he softly placed the saddle pad upon the geldings back after giving it a quick swipe with his hand. the old pinto playfully tugged at his riders pant-leg before being shooed off with a boot. the horses owner, dustin, gave disco a quick pat on the haunches before exiting his stall to retrieve a saddle and bridle. dustins spurs jingled as he walked to the tack room. once he got his geldings gear, he gracefully turned around and started walking back to his horse.
"really disco? you can't keep anythin' on longer then needed, huh?" dustin asked the horse, noting how his saddle pad was no longer on his back, but in his teeth. letting a big sigh out, dustin dropped the saddle on the ground and snatched the pad from the horse. he laid it upon the geldings back, again, then quickly lifted the saddle onto his back. disco grunted. "yeah," dustin said as he slid the saddle into place and unclipping the girth from its place, "i wouldn't have to do that if you kept it on long enough." he added, his country accent making the pinto's ears twitch.
after slipping on the horses bridle, he checked how responsive disco would be since the bridle had no chin-strap or throat-latch. even though the duo had used this bridle tons of times before, a new place always ment a less responsive horse at first. luckily, disco behaved wonderfully. so dustin happily walked the horse outside where he could hop on, then decide what to do. with a heave up, and an unhappy snort from the mount, dustin quickly gathered himself and the reins, and sat for a few moments.
"well disco, i guess we'll do some trail-riding for a bit. whatta say?" the man question his horse with a chuckle. disco just flicked his ears back as he quietly stood on the grass. dustin smirked, tapped his spurs on his ride, and the couple began heading for the trail.
· · · · · · · · · ·
happy to be out, despite the cold, the seven year old pinto gave a small, playful buck then took a couple steps at the jog, then quickly returned to a normal walk. dustin only grinned. he then thought about the trail they were walking on, the long one. no way were they going to see the sunset, but days of being here, he wanted to see it all ... or as much as he could in one trip.

Madison&Gia the morning had stared with ease, in her yoga pants and cowgirl boots her fine frame slid from her truck with ease. still slightly new to the scene she didn't doubt she would turn heads, not that she thought she was overly pretty but her small frame and hick like style was certainly unique. her stride was short, but then again so was she. as she strode down the aisle exerting confidence her long brown locks were lock and bounced freely down her back as she walked. to the tack room she routed herself, humming some country tune gently along the way. her cheeks were flushed a healthy pink and her face wore a sweet smile. entering the tack room she headed twords her row of saddles, grabbing the western saddle she slung the pad over top. the bridal she grabbed was a work bridal, currently snapped in was Gia's smooth d-ring snaffle. the mares boots and brushes were in a tote outside her stall, down the isle she almost struggled to manage the armfuls of leather she carried. dropping the pile outside the sweet mares stall she dropped a kiss on her soft muzzle. slipping into her stall she pulled off the blankets and set to work wrapping her legs with a set of black polo's.
pulling her out of the stall with the bridal on she threw the saddle pad, then saddle on with ease. the mare stood ground tied not daring to move an inch, though madison could tell the mare was more than ready to go from the look in her large hazel eyes. pulling the cinch tight the mare knew the saddle well, madison put her in the work saddle for trails and days she just bummed around. the mare actually had a nice jog when madison tried to pry it out, though her canter was far from a western pleasure horses lope madison liked to think it was pretty great for a hunter horse just goofing around.
into the sunlight they stepped, shimmering coat caught the rays of the sun. pausing for a moment madison admired the scene, the mares reins were over her neck while madison used the spare moment to stick her hair in a pony tail. checking her cinch she barely managed to pull her short 5ft3 frame up onto the mares back, though as she landed lightly she adjusted her blue sweater before grabbing the reins and asking the mare to walk on. twords the trail they wandered, the sun was bright in the sky and madison was squinting as another figuire on horseback came into sight. the mare beneath her was tense, ready to go searching for a fence. cooing to her gently madison gathered her up pushing her into a smooth walk, then a collected jog. the mare snorted and let the tension flow from her muscled frame, taking the reins in one hand the contact the mare maintained was soft. stuffing her exta hand in her sweater pocket she smiled as the caught up on the boy and his obviously western gelding. slowing her mare to a walk out of curtisoy madison let her western twang slip from her lips in a sweet greeting.
its a lovley day for a trail isn't it?

The day slowly drug on. The scenery on the trail was a sight to see, despite the fact it was fall and that most of everything was beginning to turn brown and bare. Dead leaves crinkled and crunched beneath the hooves of the gentle beast, the fog his breath formed rose quickly into the air, and his breathing calm and slow. His rider sat still as him and his companion walked down the hoof-beaten path. Dustin’s brown eyes scanned slowly over it all, taking in as much of the woods looks as he could. ”What a sight, eh?” he asked in an almost whisper. Disco’s ears rapidly flicked back, but were soon back to being forward. With a smirk, the grown-man just settled deeper into his seat. The saddle squeaked from years of use and abuse, but still managed to pull its weight, saddle pad strings stuck out from the stitching, and reins stained with sweat, with a simple small, twisted wire bit for control. The horse was more of a leg-seat command horse, but had moments where he needed more.
After a few moments of being alone, the familiar sound of another horses hoof beats rang in the mans ears, so he calmly turned back to see who was coming. It was another rider on a beautiful horse, also outfitted with western tack. He smiled as they rode up next to them. The young lady riding looked particularly comfortable. Before Dustin was able to greet her, she said something first. She must be from the country, or have some country in her from the slight accent in her voice. A small grin grew across the cowboys face before speaking. ”It sure is, ma’am. It sure is.” Dustin replied, his strong country accent flowed smoothly from his lips. ”I’m Dustin, and this is Disco.” He added as he carefully extended his hand over to her.
Disco also wanted to give a friendly ‘hello’. He nickered happily over to the women’s mare, then quickly followed up by a gentle, quick sniff and a playful lip from his whiskery muzzle. Disco was taken care of, but wasn’t the type to get clipped-up or have a bath once a week. More of ‘let him get dirty until he doesn’t look the same, get a bath, then get dirty as soon as he could.’ Dustin didn’t mind, though. So long as his horses were happy, he was happy.

Madison&Gia small frame was tall and confident in the saddle, she was at ease with her horse working beneath her quietly. the bay matched the stride of the horse next to her and kept her auds perked with interest. Madison smiled sweetly, cheeks slightly flushed as she was very conscious about the southern drawl in her words. lookin away for a moment she avoided the boys stare, madison was polite and sweet though had troubles looking strangers in the eye. she always feared being judged, judged then rejected it was only okay in the horseshow ring. though taking a deep breath almost silently she turned to face the man once more, his handsome face seemed kind as he spoke to her. nodding to show her attention she eyed the horse named disco, he looked hard working though very sweet. she handed him her soft small hand and shook his firmly, she didn't have a wimpy shake it was something her father had always inforced. the mare beneath her was kind to the gelding, her clipped tiara turned to face him and she snorted through flared nares. she spoke aloud once more sweet country vocals were bold in falls crisp air.
it's a real pleasure to meet ya Dustin, i'm Madison and this is Gia.
smiling to him she dropped her reins over the horn and stuck both hands in her sweater pockets, she shivered lightly as she realized the falls cool air was alot colder than she thought it had been. steering the mare with her short but effective legs, squirming slightly in her saddle she looked to dustin once more. smiling to him she couldn't help but feel comfortable with him, there was something about his sweet persona that she couldn't help but feel attracted too. under her the sweet mare was distracted by the gelding, her pace was a smooth walk that was easy to sit. the sound of crunching leaved beneath her shod hooves was soothing like natures music to her ears. as a breeze picked up a few leaves Gia was solid under madison, she didn't flinch at all nothing really phased the accomplished hunter. the breeze pulled out the amber color in her cheeks once more and dark wavy ponytail swayed in the wind, spur pushed her mares frame over as she tried to get to close to the other horse. madison spoke once more, her tone as sweet as ever.
i hope you don't mind us joining ya, gia seems to have taken a liking to disco.
there was soo much to think of, things in the past and what her next move would be. to say madison wasn't embarrased about things she had done would indeed be a lie, her life was far from perfect though as she rode along side dustin and his handy horse disco things seemed less life threatening. falls breeze ran a shiver down her spine and she couldn't help but smile sweetly.
occ: okay so lame again but done ;]

"And it's a pleasure to meet ya too, miss." dustin said, shaking her hand when she shook his. then he returned his hand to his side where it rested. he was sort of surprised by how strong her handshake was but, he thought nothing of it. he just gave her another friendly smile before turning his face to look forwards. he then saw gia snuffle at his gelding. dustin only chuckled and breathed deeply, slowly allowing the air to leave his lungs. he wasn't too shy about meeting new people. in fact, he enjoyed it.
madison spoke again, he turned his head to her and listened. when she finished, dustin only nodded and smiled. "i don't mind at all. i actually like it now 'cause i gots somebody to talk too." the man huffed a single laugh, then continued. "and thank you, gia, for giving little disco a friend." as he said that, he turned and leaned forwards too give the pinto a good, strong pat on his neck. the horse nodded as if he understood what the people had talked about, and he agreed. then, disco turned to return a snuffle to his new friend.
after that, he turned forward again to focus. "a little chilly, are we?' dustin asked madison, noticing her shiver and retreat her hands into her sweater. he looped his reins around his saddle's horn, so he could remove his jacket. it wasn't heavy, but it was enough to keep someone warm. once it was off and in his hands, dustin placed it delicatly on her saddle in front of her. with a reassuring smile, he adjusted the sleaves on his long-sleeve shirt, and sat. the cold breeze felt sort-of good to him. the cold did not bother him. when a few leaves fluttered up from the ground, he watched his mount's listeners as they flew towards them. both horse were obviously broke, seeing as how the movement didn't phase either of them. "good boy." dustin whispered to his horse.
finally, the group of four came to the big clearing of field. dustin easily pulled his horse to a halt. the horse immediatly obeyed and stood, almost square. his attention was more for the gallop that he knew might happen. his muscles tightening under his fuzzy pelt. dustin felt it. he gave the horse another pat followed by a scratch. finished, both horse and rider patiently waited for the other pair to come, so they could see what they wanted to do.

Madison&Gia as the mare moved rhythmically beneath her, relaxed madison drew in a deep breath and let it out. her mare seemed to mimic the motion as she snorted through flared nares. her auds didn't even perk as the leaves crunched beneath her shod hooves, madison pulled a balled fist from her pocket to run her freezing fingers through the mares pulled and detangled mane. smile played up her slightly chapped lips, she couldn't help but run her tongue over the slightly cracked lips they were driving her up the wall. peering over to the boy on his cute gelding, she smiled sweetly cheeks were flushed a shade of light ember from the wind. prying her frozen fingers from her mares mane she shoved the freezing hand back in her sweater pocket she tried her best not to shiver. clenched teeth tried their best not too chatter, dustins drawl pierced the fall air with a smooth presence. she was taken by surprise and drawn to him though played the smooth card. nodding gently she looked into his eyes, her own large hazel eyes were bright as she listened.
well gia and i both enjoy keeping good company, and we could both use a friend or two we haven't been here very long.
her tone was kind, souther drawl was certainly evident in every word she spoke. she continued to look dustin in the eye, though as she held the stare for a few moments she couldn't help but look away. admiring the stunning scene around them madison was distracted of course, the place had changed so suddenly. the signs of civilization seemed to escape as the forest grew thicker. the leaves were certainly stunning in the many shades of fall, some orange and then brilliant shades of red. dustins tone caught her again, she snapped back to reality and looked to him again. large eyes peered into him then suddenly blinked, she pulled her frozen hands from her pockets and tried to stop him. her voice hit the cool air with some force but faded as her attempts failed.
oh dustin please... you really... don't, no. oh well it actually is kinda cold. thank you.
the jacket was light but would be effective in breaking the wind, looking to dustin in his long sleeve she felt bad taking his jacket but couldn't help herself. pulling the jacket up over her shoulders she put her arms in the sleeves that were much too large but oh so warm. her hands didn't make it to the wholes in the bottom of her sleeves, she didn't bother doing it up but instead wrapped it around herself. smiling she nodded to dustin again, he really was too kind to a total stranger. she couldn't help but admire his southern upbringing, it wasn't very often that she ran into those type of guys anymore. it seemed now a days the gestures had fallen from holding the door or pulling out a chair to a honk from their truck or a whistle from a far. as the gelding next to them pulled to a halt gia did the same, the mare pushed her soft muzzle twords disco with perked auds. madison chuckled gently at her mare and grabbed the reins ready to re-act if one of the horses was stupid. eying the open field she sighed, once more she spoke souther drawl was bold in the falls crisp air like a song bird;
wow, really takes me back. just like home.
occ: done. not as good as orig but all i could come up with.

while staring off into the distance, madison spoke softly in her southern accent. dustin listened closely and agreed. the vast, open spaces reminded him of the few runs he and some of his old cow horses. the wind smacking you in the face while the horses mane flown freely in the wind. occasionally loosing a nicely broken-in hat and being forced to buy another. despite all that, she was right. it does bring back memories. once she finished, dustin spoke. returning the sound of the south in his voice. a smile grew across his face the more he thought about it. "you're right. it really does." he took another glance around before turning his gaze to madison. "you look warmer." he teased, referring to his over-sized jacket engulfing her small frame.
disco returned his new friends nuzzle with a very, feminine squeel, followed by a manly grunt and a snuffle in her mane. his ears pricked as far forward as they could, his eyes wide with happiness and some excitment. his dark eyes looking at gia with high interest, his neck and dome stretching as far as they could, disco took a small step forward. easily reaching his friend, he continued snuffling and sniffering her, being careful not to scare her. quietly chuckling, dustin pulled back on the reins a tad to remind disco not to get too excited. a sigh of relaxation, disco obeyed and returned his neck back and stood quietly. "you're too friendly for your own good." he stated to the horse, leaving back and giving his hindquarters a strong pat.
"we love us some good company, too." dustin replied to madison's quote. that's something about southerners. they always loved having friends around and enjoyed family time. and they almost always had lots of friends. or most did. "i'm sure ice would like to have another friend, once she gets settled in ... big boy too." he said, sort of too himself. he gazed down at his horse, thinking of his other horses.
looking up from his horse, dustin took another long glance around. the large area called to him as if saying, 'c'mon. you know you wanna'. dustin couldn't help himself. he flicked his gaze back to the young lady settled on her horse. "what do you say we have us a quick little gallop?" dustin asked, his eyes smiling. taking one rein in each of his hard-worked hands, he dug one of his spurs into disco's barrel. with a leap into it, the gelding easily picked up his lead then going across the ground in a smooth flow, throwing a happy and playful buck into the mix. once it was out of his system, he was perfect from there on. dustin kept at that pace until madison would catch up and run or not, only if she wanted. disco threw in a quick scream, asking for gia to come.
ooc: sorry it took sooo long. stuff was goin on at home and .. blah

Madison&Gia her mares trimmed mane was caught in the wind, black and perfect for braiding it drew a neat line in the air when blown. madison would have felt a shiver up her spine if it hadn't been for the oversized yes, but warm jacket dustin had taken off his back for her. madison was not complaining, she was starting to warm up and her frame lost some of the tenseness her shoulders relaxed and hip angle changed. her teeth ceased to be on the verge of chattering and she drew in a deep breath then let it out, she was content as she had been within the last few weeks. it seemed things were finely piecing together, fer financial situation was sorted and her house was in the process with being bought. her current residence was cute but madison really wanted a house, a house to make these parts really feel like home. whilst nothing would compare to the farm she grew up on, this would have to do for now. she lost herself in thoughts, and it was most likley obvious in her large hazel eyes as she stared into the open smiling. blinking her lashes touched her cheeks briefly before she turned her full attention to dustin, her cheeks were a light pink from the wind, eyes bright and smile sweet. she was glad he agreed with her, made her fell like they had something in commom. something in common besides the fact that yes she was wearing his coat that was HUGE on her, she chuckled at his teasing and of course took it with good humor.
thanks, this coat is a real winner. borrowed it from this guy i know, he is a real gentleman, but kinda giant. do however think i pull off the, oversized look quite well.
she flashed him a bigger smile and threw her ponytail over her shoulder, shaking her shoulder slightly she couldn't help herself. there was something about dustins smooth and kind personality that made her confident in ways she really hadn't been before with new people. gia didn't flinch as dustin made a small fuss she instead nickered to him softly and returned his touches with her auds perked. she really was an easy horse, madison had been blessed by the fancy bay hunter nothing phased miss gia she had after all been a childrens horse for some time. as dustin spoke to disco madison smiled and thought of her other horse, sailor was certainly in that friendly category as well. some days madison couldn't keep him away from other people and horses, mostly in fear of the potential damange but sailor was truely just a peoples horse he loved any attention. gia on the other hand settled for less, she wasn't overly drawn to lots of attention but didn't back away from it. she is sensitve and personable just not charismic in the way sailor seemed to be. some days madison wished sailor would take a lesson or two from gia, wait no that was most days! madisons eyes were bright as she watched dustin eye the field, she laughed quietly to herself as she could almost tell what he was thinking. when he asked she was more than ready, her tone was simply sweet but game as well.
you're on cowboy!
she watched the pair take off, gia had never really flat out galloped with madison before. who knows what the kids did with her though as she saw the other horse take off she hesitated for a moment, though madison squeezed her legs against the mares barrel and leaned forward in the saddle. letting her muscles explode the mare wasn't far from disco's tail even with the late start. gia's auds were perked attentive though to madison she hadn't grabbed the bit but was merley injoying the sudden freedom madison had allowed her. disco's call was nothing more than encouragment as madison gained on dustin it was obvious he was letting them catch up. as she drew her horse along side disco she turned to face dustin her smile was bright and her hair whipping in the wind, the tears that rolled down her cheek were obviously thanks to the winds great force.
this darn coat of yours is weighing us down!
she smiled and leaned forward slightly, eyes on the ground ahead of them she pushed gia to give her a little more. the bay mare was more than happy, her muscles bunched and contracted like clock work and she lengthened her stride with ease though madison could tell the mare kept some of her attention on disco as well, she was quite fond of the spotted gelding that was certainly evident.

Dustin & Disco, Madison & Gia
watching madison race off ahead, her small build almost a blur, dustin smirked, then extended his long arms up the geldings neck, giving him his head. now free, disco lengthened his stride also. his legs carrying both bodies as fast as they would let him. soon, he was closer to his buddy, his nose at her tail. the horse was slowly, but surely, gaining more ground on the tall, lean mare and her matching rider. his nostrils flared open as he raced his heart out, enjoying every second of it. after a bunch more strides, discos dome was around the saddle, and dustin was able to speak to madison. "yeah. i think i know the guy, too. he's nice. from the country." dustin loudly said over the beating of hooves on the cold, hard ground, and the breathing of the horses. "and you do work that jacket quite well." he added. his eyes quickly blinked, forcing the wind-made tears to fall down from his gray-ish eyes over his pinkish cheeks. thank you, mr. wind.
as they neared the end of the field, dustin slowly and gently began to pull his arms back towards his body. the reins slowly becoming taught, telling the exhausted horse to come back. carefully, dustin began applying more pressure and, taking the hint, the friendly gelding started to shorten his stride. the ground gained on the females was soon added too, and grew farther apart. he knew she was going to slow down soon. especally since disco stopped chasing her. "you win!" dustin yelled up to her. "only 'cause i let ya win!' he added, a hint of laughter in his voice.
finally, disco stopped with a ways left. his dome hung low as he breathed heavily to fill his lungs with the cool air, his auds turned sideways, and his body loose. slipping his feet out of the stirrups, dustin heaved, and threw himself off disco, landing on his feet. the pinto turned his head and eyed his owner. "good boy. you did great out there." said the cowboy, stroking the horses fuzzy face softly. the horse returned his head to face forward and look for gia. he saw her, glanced at dustin, then forward again. the man knew what the horse wanted. "okay, hold on." he stated, stepping to the cinch and unbuckling it. after pulling the saddle off, and leaving the worn-out pad on the geldings back, he took the reins and began to walk across the field, to the opposite side. taking their time to relax and catch their breaths.
at the end of the field, the man calmly led his pinto up the trail that led back towards the barn. as time slowly moved on, the air surrounding them began to grow colder. soon, he would need a jacket but, he could go without it. dustin, one by one, rotated and cracked his shoulders. instant relief. with a sigh, he took a quick look around for the females. "whoa.." dustin cooed to the tired creature. he hadn't had a work-out like since the old days, back on the farm. he only ran like that now when he was turned out. no doubt he would be a tad tired tomorrow. yet that's okay. dustin patiently awaited the catch-up of the girls so they could continue. "ya know.. this seems like the perfect time for hot coco." the spotted horse bobbed his head, as if agreeing. smiling, dustin placed the saddle at his feet. the saddle pad hadn't moved an inch. form-fitting.

Madison&Gia the wind stung her eyes, and though tears tumbled down her rose flushed cheeks. though the tears were hardly noticible over her wide laughing smile and large sparkling hazel eyes. as she peered over at dustin and disco she only laughed more, something about the cowboy made her happy. he really was a classic, small town southern man who knew his bearings and seemed to know where he stood. his self confidence was aspiring as he teased madison about the coat, she could only laugh as they pulled again slightly. her hair came loose as they seemed to fly, her mares hooved almost floated over the ground as she continued to push on. gia was in good shape, she hadn't started on her winter break yet and was in show condition. pulling away from the boys madison felt the wind in her now loose curls and urged the mare on to finish well ahead of the boys. she sorta saw herself winning, but thats because madison liked to achieve at everything she did. looking back over her shoulder she stook out her tongue to see the pair pulling up, a sigh escaped her wind dried lips as she too pulled her mare up. to a halt they came and madison settled in the saddle, the mare was prancing beneath her. she had worked hard but it seemed she was on fire ready for more, cooing to her gently she ran her small hand over the mares neck before letting it disapear into the sleeve once more. her voice was smooth and kind as she spoke to the mare,
we done good girl, now simmer down. hey there cowboy, that was mighty fine of you but I think you oare mistaken. you see gia and I are obviously faster than you and that adorable spotted pony.
looking back to disco and dustin she admired the spotted gelding and cowboy, it seemed gia felt the same. she perked her auds while nickered between deep huffed breathes, madison smiled and licked her lips they were cracked beneath her warm tongue. madison was attentive. she was smiling as she spoke to dustin in a smiling tone, the smile radiated from her slightly chapped lips too her bright hazel eyes. she let the reins fall over her horn as she stired the mare with her legs after dustin, the silence was comfortable as they headed back to the barn. madison was confident sitting in her saddle, relaxed and warm as she followed dustin who chose to walk his horse. maybe it was weird but madison didn't question, some horses didn't cool out as well with someone riding them thankfully Gia was not one of them. As they drew closer to the farm she spotted dustin who had somehow walked ahead of them, he was apparently taller than madison had thought. chuckling to herself as they caught up she caught what dustin was saying and smiled sweetly, madison pushed her long hair out of her face before talking her tone was sweet and still joking with him.
your right, its certainly getting cold out you want your jacket back?
she popped off gia with ease, though the drop was longer that madison had anticipated. a wave of pain shot through her ankles to her knee's she gasped out loud and her sleeved hand shot to her mouth. she was colder than she had thought, there was a grimace of pain as the shooting continued up her legs though her good natured smile took over as the pain faded, taking a small step to her mares head she dropped a kiss on her nose and looking to the guys, her mare seemed to copy madison and she smiled again. looking up to the barn she lead the mare twords her stall, once she got into the barn the wind seemed to stop and she unzipped dustins jacket. pulling her mares saddle off she left the bridal on and grabbed for a cooler, pulling it over her mares back she looked for dustin. pulling her arms out of his coat slowley she held it out for him, it was colder without but she would get used to it forcing herself not to shiver she leaned back against gia for a second her smile was bright as she spoke.
hey, heres your jacket. thanks again dustin!

placing the saddle on the ground, dustin removed his pintos bridle, laying it across the saddles seat. with the bridle removed, disco opened his maw and gave a big yawn. then, he stepped forward, peered his dome over the wall, and squeeled for his new friend, gia. his ears pricked as he waited for her response. a large hand patted the horses barrel before the man grabbed the blanket, and gently slid it on his body. when it was on, dustin then buckled the buckles, then pulled the velco straps under his belly, and across his back. giving his a final pat, dustin left his stall, quietly shutting the door behind him. finally, dustin lifted the tack off the floor, and started heading towards the tack room. however, he paused in his tracks to hear a short scream of pain. he quickly turned to see madison walking slower then usual. before, he could ask if she was okay, she was safely inside the barn, taking care of her horse. before dustin could put his tack away, madi was offering him his jacket back. he only shook his head. "no thank ya. i'll be okay for a while longer. 'sides, you need it more then i do. and your most certainly welcome." he said with a smile before walking off to the saddle room. he heaved his tack onto his empty rack, then rapidly removed his spurs and placed them over the saddles horn. finally, he left the room.
"and yeah. your horse may be faster then my 'sweet little pony'." dustin said, quoting his fingers with a hint of joke in his voice. "but mine is smaller, and older, and has had no reason for a gallop like that. 'cept ta run for fun." he added, cracking his knuckles. the pop they made relieved his fingers a bit. next, he turned to his other two horses: ice and big boy. both creatures watched and patiently waited for anything. a small crooked grin formed on his lips as he stepped toward ice, the yearling filly. her brown body fuzzy with hair, with a white spot on her side. ice's icey eyes looked towards her owner as he placed a blanket upon her delicate frame. a low growl-like noise escaped her body, followed by a deep sigh. "your bored, ain'tcha?" he asked the filly. no movement or noise.
outside, a light and friendly flurry of snow began to fall. little white specks hit the ground, then like magic- disappeared. hopefully, not too much would stick. as he left the girls box, he turned to madison. "you wanna get some hot coco when we're done here? my treat." he offered, snatching big boy's blanket of the hook and unfolding it. while he waited for her answer, he slid his blanket on to. it was the same kind as the other two, just a heavyweight one instead. the stallion playfully nudged dustin with his head. the man only looked at him. "you can go out tomarrow. promise." he told the horse, pushing his head away from his body. after exiting the stall, dustin gave a swift scratch on the arm, then begun digging in his pocket for his truck keys. they hid deep in his back pocket. once he got them, he fiddled with them until he got the one he needed. now, all he had to do was wait for his friends answer. ooc: not amazing.. but somethin.

Madison&Gia The mare was solid behind her, like a rock she didn’t move as Madison leaned more weight into her. Gia did nicker in response to Disco and Madison could only chuckle, the jacket was still held out to the kind cowboy though it was heavy enough that the now chilled muscles in her arm had started to cramp. She shook her head but didn’t say anything as Dustin so kind and gentlemen-like refused to take his coat. Sighing to herself she slipped it back over her shoulders but didn’t put her arms through the holes, she needed her hands to do a few things before she could enjoy total warmth again. Pulling herself from Gia’s warm body she carefully slipped the mares bridle from her fine head, taking extra care with the bit she dropped it on the tack trunk by her saddle. Replacing the bridle with a leather name plated halter Madison threw the lead over Gia’s neck and got to work on grooming her. Peeling the cooler back she was happy to see the small saddle sweat mark was basically dry, and her sides were moving in a normal cadenced breath after breath. Running her brush over the saddle area she made sure the coat lay flat and silken before she put the mare’s first blanket on, it had a bell band and neck cover. Leaving the mare ground tied in that blanket she quickly headed over to the tack room, small stride took long steps as she struggled but managed her tack. Looking to Dustin and his perfect tack she glared in a joke for a moment, then pushed her arms through the holes of the over sized jacked and let her southern voice fill the air.
You are far too kind; you must be close to freezing I will hurry up so we can get out of this cold.
Striding back to the mare her steps were longer and her hips swayed as short legs tried to accommodate her sudden rush, Gia didn’t even flinch as Madison quickly pulled off her leg wraps and bell boots. The mare’s second waterproofed blanket was pulled over top the first. Smirking as the well schooled mare didn’t flinch the only exception was when her frame shook gently in a call to disco, the spotted gentleman had certainly won little miss Gia’s heart. Dustin spoke and Madison heard the hint of a joke right away and a smile lit up her facials, her whole smooth face seemed to explode with a bright smile. It was a habit, a hard one to break as she chuckled softly then felt herself blush. Dustin was right on one degree, but she felt bad in gloating over such a victory so her hazel eyes were now set in a challenge, though her rose lips were wearing a smirk. Southern drawl was smooth in the farms warmer air and she crossed her small arms in the oversized jacket and took a step towards Dustin brow arched and smirk clean.
Simmer down there cowboy, I didn’t mean to insult your noble steed. Even if he is aged he is a mighty fine mount, Gia certainly seems to think so at least. As matter of fact she is quite smitten with him, and for good reason of course.
Madison turned on her heel and set to work getting her mare bedded down; opening the stall door she shook her head lightly and let the mare loose. Disappearing for a moment she returned with a wheel barrel full of shavings and proceeded to dump half in the bay mare’s large stall. The other half went to her stallion whom didn’t as much as flinch from his snooze when Madison opened his door, he was still wiped from his lunge last night and that was certainly a good thing. Returning the wheel barrel to its rightful place she intruded on Gia once more to drop a kiss on her nose and feed the mare a carrot before she emerged from the stall totally done. Wiping her hands on the thighs of her dark washed jeans Madi smiled at herself, running those same hands through her currently loose curled hair she was attentive to Dustin once more as he spoke this time in question. His proposition was exactly what she needed, even under his warm coat her frame shivered, it was a cold that had rocked her to the bone and wasn’t exactly about to go away on its own it would certainly take some convincing for the thing to go. Looking to him she smiled once more and let her southern voice once more,
Thanks Dustin, I will take you up on that offer some hot coco is just what I felt like. Where were you thinking about going?
occ: done!

dustin happily and patiently waited for madison to finish with her chores. the cold had started to make chill-bumps form on his exposed areas, but he only ingored it, watching the lady work. she took her time, making sure her beloved mare was well-blanketed. he only tossed a heavy coat on his horse and let him go. the other got more than one, simply thats what they're used too. besides, disco was a fluffball with legs, and whiskers, he was happy with one on or not. anyway. instead of doing nothing, dustin headed over towards gia's stall, leaning on the door while madison continued on with her work. before he could ask, she had already gathered her tack and departed off to the tack room after blanketing the horse. he smiled. "need any other help?" he offered, taking a quick glance around. he somehow felt like she had a handle on things, and his help wasn't needed. yet like the gentleman he is, he offered anyway. "take your time. if i get cold enough, i'll snuggle up with your horse." dustin stated, joking of course, about the number of blankets her mare wore.
"you look like your wearin' a dress." dustin gently teased his friend. the coat draped down over her form, with a lot of extra room. he chuckled quietly to himself watching her hurry. dustin stopped leaning on the mares door, and walked over to his yearlings box. she was against the far, back wall minding her own business, staring at a flake of leftover breakfast in the corner. slipping the truck key back into his pocket, he clicked for her attention. once again, madison spoke. only this time, she came up to him. dustin looked down, and his eyes met hers.madi's speaking for themselves. "it's okay. and thanks. he is a good horse." a smile formed on his lips. "i think he's fallen head over hooves for her, by the way he speaks to her." he added, still smiling. as he spoke, ice made her way over to the couple and rested her head over the door, listening in. reaching his hand up, dustin easily rubbed his fingers in small circles on her ears. a long sigh was her reply.
finishing up with her duties, madison had accepted his offer for a hot drink. when she asked where they might go, he hadn't decided on a place. "it don't matter to me. where do you want to go?" dustin asked her. he thought for a moment before adding on. "if you want, we can go to the diner to grab a bite to eat, if your hungry. lord knows i'm gettin' there." he addded with a quick laugh. he wasn't starving enough to eat a horse, but he had three if he did. (its a bad joke xD).plus, it would give the two a chance to warm-up and continue talking. about what, who knows. "one more thing. you want to drive, or should I?" was his final question, for now. dustin stopped stroking his filly and stood straight. his body sort of towering over madison and his horse. you would never think that a filly like that, would be tall enough to be a good horse for him. she would be, her breeding had all big dams and sires.

Madison&Gia
ha ha cowboy, miss gia is a pampered princess who doesn't grow a winter coat. really snuggle with a horse? is that the best you can do?
the play in her tone was evident, she winked at him and considered giving him a punch in the arm though didn't want to take it too far. instead she stood there outside her mares stall, peeking back in on the bay mare she was content to see gia relaxing in her fresh shavings. moving her focus to dustin madisons smile was genuine and sweet, her cheeks were flushed a slight rose shade of pink not only from the cold. she squirmed slightly beneath dustins huge dress like coat, her chilled frame really did look small under it. aware of her small height in comparison to dustin she stretched her shoulders back and looked up to him. she watched him walk away, though wasn't worried about where he was headed. she couldn’t help but follow him, her strides were much smaller and it took her a few moments longer to get to the stall dustin was now standing by. his comment about the dress coat was brushed off with a chuckle, she didn't bother biting back as she was instead distracted by the young filly. she was adorable, and apparently friendly as she moved towards the pair with certain confidence. madison chucked softly, the words escaping her slightly dried lips before she could stop them.
well isn't she something. adorable actually, about a year old right?
sweet southern drawl was almost a whisper as she watched the filly have her face massaged, then listened to dustin as he spoke. she didn't even notice his accent or anything. she wasn't intimidated by what he said or how he spoke, there was something he projected that made madison feel quite comfortable, or maybe madison was finally getting good at meeting people. the geldings vocals were certainly meant for gia, and as the mare didn't stir but whinnied back madison rolled her eyes. this wasn't the first time her mare had fallen for another horse, she seemed to make bonds with the most interesting characters. though madison wasn't complaining this time it had led her to an awfully cute cowboy. running her hand through her long curled locks she just chuckled before speaking in a louder tone this time.
oh miss gia, she is always in love with someone.
Madisons eyes lite up as she looked up to dustin, her smile was sweet and she thought about where they should go. she didn’t know the town very well at all, in fact she hadn’t seen much more than the road to the barn and the park around her place. Shivering slightly she was more than ready to get a drink and maybe something to eat, leaning back on the filly’s stall she took some of the weight off her small chilled feet. The spurs on her boots jingled slightly as she shifted her weight, then she listened silently while dustin spoke. His words almost seemed to read her mind, it really was interesting how stuff like that worked. While some food seemed like a great idea she really had no clue as to where they should go. looking up to him she spoke her words were simple and the truth as she usually spoke.
The diner sounds perfect, i am getting pretty hungry. If you don’t mind driving that would be great, I really don’t know where i am going in this town yet.
occ: shit i thought i had posted this reply! sorry.

he laughed to himself. "no.. it's not. i can do waaay better. your horse is just probably the warmest thing in this barn" dustin said with a playful hint in his voice. a small smile grew across his face when she winked at him, then he winked back. the two were hitting it off really well. he gave another chuckle, watching madison and the new style of 'dress' wear. as he stood as his fillys stall, the women was a little farther behind, but soon caught up. she made a sweet comment about the baby, which made he smile. "yes ma'am. your 'bout on the spot. thinkin' she'll be a great beginner horse for my little sister, though she's gonna be a big girl. the horse, not my sister." dustin teased about the young mare. he gave her a final pat, then let her go on about her business. ice sniffed at the stranger, madison, before stepping back and turning away.
listening to gia and disco talk, it seemed like those two reflected the two people. both hit it off great from the start, both outgoing and caring, and most importantly, very friendly. dustin quickly returned his attention to his surroundings, then madison. he breathed heavily and smiled as he watched the girls reaction to her mare's noises. when madison spoke louder, she was probably trying to make sure her beloved gia could hear, even though she wouldn't understand. dustin only smiled bigger. he didn't know what to say to that, so he kept quiet. his eyes looked at all the horses. admiring each one almost, but swiftly returning his attention again. "i'm sure she has her standards. most people do." dustin stated, his country tone embracing each one like a hug.
"no problem." dustin said, meaning he was a showfer for the night. he didn't mind it, though. she didn't know her way around, and he knew of the few, important places. with a smile, dustin's manly hands offered her the way first. after all, ladies first. his vehicle sat outside, waiting. "and i know the feelin'. i'm ready for a burger or somethin'." he joked. he probably shouldn't since he has a few cows at home, but those were pets, not food. with key in hand, dustin turned to one of his horses. "i'll come back and feed ya your dinner later. so don't worry." he gave big boy a pat on his forehead, then turned back around. "ready when you are, miss." dustin spoke, his accent deep yet smooth.
