Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range They had been planning to go on this trip for weeks. Planned, packed and...well...planned some more. But today was the day that they would actualy pick up their bags and go. The day that- hopefuly, everything would be paid off. They were headed to the state of Wyoming from here in Pinewood VA, to attend a benifit rodeo held to raise money for someone that had gotten hurt, and the 'They' that I'm talking about would be none other than Miranda Dugger and Collin Silvin.
Collin almost surely would not be going to this rodeo if it weren't for Miranda. Her family lived around where they were headed to and he was pretty much just tagging along as you'd put it. He was bringing his eight year old mare Scuro Ballerina and a middle aged QH gelding by the name of Bow and Arrow up with them, though only the gelding would be doing anything competitive. The horse wasn't owned by Collin though, rather he was one of Collin's many trainee horses. They were going so that Arrow could get a taste of what a real rodeo was like so that once he went home to his owners, he'd of had some experience under him. Scuro was merely going along because she and her rider were going to be in a competiton less than a week after coming back from Wyoming, and if Collin didn't bring her along they wouldn't have enough time to prepare and learn their test. Collin planned on working her while up there even though they wouldn't be gone for long atall.
They were taking Miranda's new truck and her ten horse trailer, or atleast thats how it had been from how Collin understood it. He would of offered to take his own truck instead but he knew that the old tin can wouldn't make it. His truck was atleast 14 years old and had more miles on it than anything he'd ever seen. While it had been black when it was first made, the years of wear and tear made it more of a smokey grey color with dents in the sides from variouse incidents. He didn't want to push his luck and try to make the truck do such a long trip when the old thing was doing good to even be starting still. Miranda's truck, on the otherhand- was almost brand new and had been bought earlier on in the week after a car crash completely totaled her first truck. There was a much better chance that her truck could withstand the miles than his; especialy pulling a trailer as large as hers.
Collin owned two other horses besides Scuro and the bay Quarterhorse that he was training, although he would not be taking them. He probably would of brought his cremello Andalusian along if the three year old had more experience it trailers, and if he had not been still recovering from an injury three and a half weeks ago. He was almost completely better and was barely even limping anymore, but the stress of being in a trailer for almost twenty four hours with only a few breaks to stretch his young, fragile legs- it just didn't sound like a good idea. The colt was expensive, not to mention that he was pretty much Collin's whole future- and gambling that seemed stupid. The horse would remain here in Virginia and would be taken care of Miranda's friend Soncee untill Collin got back. Maybe later on after they'd practiced trailering a bit more, he was older, and his legs were completely sound- they'd try taking him somewhere more than fifteen minutes away.
The fourth horse was realy not a horse atall; but a miniature pony. At less than 11 hands heigh he was one of, if not the smallest horse in Pinewood's barns. The tiny gelding was not going to be brought along purely because of lack of space, and there was no need for him to come along. Collin had called a favor on one of his friends who was going to take care of him for the time being. He was just slightly worried that the little equine would become depressed, but hopefuly he wouldn't because he would not be leaving his familiar surroundings. It had taken months and months to get the small animal to trust him and regain his feisty spirit that came with most ponies after his first owner had died, and Collin didn't want to lose that. He wasn't sure that if it he, he would be able to re-gain it for a third time. It would be too much on the aging pony.
It was early in the morning still, probably about 6:30 in the morning by his guessings although he couldn't be completely sure. There had been a big storm in the middle of the night and his power had gone out. His clock that sat on the bed-side table in the room he was in was still flashing red 12:00 on it, even though it was obviously morning. Collin had everything needed packed into a fairly small duffle bag, except his boots and hat that were laying on top of it since he'd be using them. So far while staying in America he hadn't been out of Virginia, although he had gotten as far as the boarders a few times. He prospect of finaly going somewhere else and seeing new landscape excited him. To him Virginia was a very beautiful place, full of things he'd never dreamed of seeing while in his small town on the far outskirts of London. He couldn't wait to see the rest of the country. Miranda said that it was beautiful, and he hoped she was right.
At the stables his tack and brushes were arranged neatly in his tackbox- freshly cleaned out and ready to go. All that he needed to do was wrap Arrow and Scuro's legs, then maybe their tails. He wasn't sure which horses Miranda was bringing to Wyoming but he figured she was atleast bringing Streak, her young western all-rounder, and possibly her older stallion Sonny- a large black quarterhorse cutting horse. She would probably bring along one or two more considering that she had such a large herd to pick from. She had the most horses he'd ever seen a single person own- with a whole pasture full of bays, paints, greys, and just about every other color imaginable in the equine world, as well as many different breeds. He didn't know how she was able to take such great care of all of them herself, but she did.
He yawned slightly and stretched his arms a bit as he stood in the bedroom. He hoped that the roads would be alright and not too washed out after the rain. It was dangerouse enough to drive a truck with a loaded ten horse trailer alone, let alone on a slippery or uneven road. The day was supposed to be warm so the roads would probably dry up if they were indeed still wet, but there was still a chance. Glancing out at the window he smiled as he saw the sun shining through it. It's rays weren't the strongest things because of clouds still overshadowing it, but they were enough to suit him. He grabbed his bag to bring out the living room, whistling under his breath. Hopefuly things would go well.
Lenth -- 1281 Comments -- I didn't know if 1. Miranda was at his house 2. when they planned to leave, or 3. where to realy start, so its not realy good but... xD its a thread. For anyone reading this other than Miranda; this is a sequel to New Start :][/blockquote]

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Miranda had most of her stuff packed up that night and in the truck, unless she was using it in the morning. She had a total of two bags. But she was a girl and girls always packed a little more than then the guys. It was just a girl thing. She had been at Collin’s house that night. Her truck and trailer pulled up on the side of the road by his house. There wasn’t a lot of traffic so it was safe to do so. She got up a little after he did and yawned. She sat up in the bed and noticed he was gone. She looked at the clock that was flashing. She stood up and took a quick shower and just let her hair dry curly and got dressed and ready to go and packed a small back with stuff she used this morning and took it out to the truck. She came back in and made up some cereal because she didn’t feel like making a mess of the kitchen. She ate rather quickly. Then looked around, trying to find Collin.
She found him back in the bedroom where he stretched his arms out. She walked up to him and put her arms around his neck and kissed his lips gently. ‘Morning. You ready for a long drive?” She asks him. She would probably do a lot of the driving since she knew where she was going. She checked her phone and saw it was around 6:15. She smiled. “We need to be leaving in about an hour.” She told him and smiled. “Go get something to eat.” She told him and patted his stomach. She let go of him and went to the kitchen. She leaned against the counter thinking on what to bring with them for food and munchies. As she did, she texted her friends from Wyoming and told them she was coming home for a couple days. They were all really excited. She asked a few of her friends how the weather was and said it was rainy, but during the days it was nice and warm. It usually just rained in the evening. She smiled glad of it.
She looked at Collin. “Do you need horses to train when the owner gets Arrow?” She asks him. She was sure he did. And now would be the time to tell him about what her dad told her he would let him do that way he had a day to think about it. She put her phone in her pocket to talk to him, then made him cereal that way he wouldn’t ruin in, like he always said he would. ‘My dad has like eight two year olds that need some breaking. He told me he would let us bring four of them down if you want to take them and train them for him. He would pay you whatever you charge. “ She told him. She watched for his reaction, wondering what he would do. She was sure that her dad would like him. Her mom was if-y, but she would just have to get over herself because Miranda loved Collin if she liked it or not.
She packed sandwiches in a cooler along with some drinks for the ride to Wyoming, that way they didn’t have to waste money on food on the way there. She put it in the truck and was glad that this last week, she hadn’t got hurt. It was always a nice thing not to get hurt. And she was sure Collin was just as grateful. “Honey, I’m going to the stables, so hop in or meet me there.“ She told him and patted the hair on his head. She drove to the stables with the trailer, that way they could load up horses into her rather big trailer She pulled up within minutes and parked and got out. She walked into the barn. She found Streak and Sonny in their stalls, wanting to go. She put Casper in the pasture and brought with her three horses, all older horses that she was bringing back so her dad could sell them for her. She decided she had too many horses. She took them and tied them up to the trailer and then brought Streak and Sonny out. She tied them on the opposite side and brushed all five of them down.
Traveling always felt better when you were clean, so horses must feel the same way. She got them all cleaned up. She combed through their manes and tails. She braided their tails and then made sure the bedding in the trailer wasn’t nasty and it wasn’t it smelled new. She smiled and then put hay in all the feeders for the horses to munch on. Then she filled up the water tank in the tack room so they could water the horses on the way. She made sure all her tack was still in the trailer and then made sure she had extra halters and lead ropes. She checked her tires and then made sure the spare tires were still in good condition and aired up, and made sure she still had jacks and what not to change them if she had to. She hoped she wouldn’t have to worry about it though.
She looked around and then popped the hood on her truck and checked the oil. It was still full and ready to go. She checked the windshield wiper fluid and it was still full. Then she checked the coolant part and it was full. The truck was nearly bran-new so it was doing good. She got gas last night so it was filled up. She made sure she had everything on her list once more and then remembered they needed to bring a few hay bales with them just in case. She brought three over and then looked at the top of the trailer where they needed to go. She would have to have Collin help her with carrying them up there. She wasn’t strong enough. She wrinkled her nose and walked into the barn to find Collin.
She figured he would be in the barn somewhere. So she looked around and she found Scuro in her stall. She smiled to her. “Morning Scuro. “ She says and held out a small treat for her. “You ready for a long drive?” She asks her and patted her neck gently. She texted Soncee to remind her that she needed to take care of Cloud. Soncee had come over yesterday to see what Collin wanted done with Cloud and Game. She was working right now but she was responsible and would get them worked with like Collin wanted. Miranda texted her to let her know they were leaving soon and to not forget about her and Collin’s horses. Soncee texted back saying she wouldn’t do that for the life of her. Miranda smiled and rubbed Scuro’s nose. “Good girl.” She told her. She called her parents house and left a message saying that they were on their way soon and they would call them when they stopped to get gas.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range
Even if he had more than just a small choice of clothing to pack up and bring with him; he probably wouldn't of brought much more than he already was. He didn't need anything more than the change of clothes per day and simple things like a toothbrush like your average female did. He'd always been the sort to pack as lightly as possible. Even on the trip from England to his new home here in America; he hadn't brought more than a normal visit anywhere. Truthfuly, he'd probably brought along more things for his animals than he had for himself. He was used to not living in very much comfort, and those five pairs of clothes that he owned and his boots had been about as much as he had brought. He'd come to this strange country with barely anything; but he liked it that way. He'd started fresh. Literaly.
Miranda's truck had been parked on the rode beside his house the night before, already hooked up to the large trailer and ready to go. Miranda; as she had very often for the past few weeks, had spent the night at his house so he wouldn't have to wait for her or vice versa. Her things were mainly all in the truck and pretty much all they had left to do was load up the horses and their tack then hit the road. Simple enough. Collin stretched his arms out just before Miranda came into the room and walked up to him, linking her arms around his neck. He bent his head a bit to look straight at her and smiled a bit before she kissed him. ‘Morning. You ready for a long drive?” Nodding, Collin rested his chin lightly on top of her head for a moment. “We need to be leaving in about an hour.” Around seven. He wasn't exactly sure how far away Wyoming was; but from what he'd seen when looking at the map of America- it was pretty far off. He knew that they wouldn't even reach the state boarder untill the next day or so, maybe if they both drove in shifts so that they didn't stop,in a little less time than that; but not much.
“Go get something to eat.” Miranda said, patting his stomache lightly. Collin gave her a sulky face, knowing that he'd be held to doing exactly that even if he were to complain that he wasn't hungry. Before she had begun coming to his house often and more often than not staying the night- he'd never realy ea ten consistant meals. One day he'd skip breakfast, the next he'd skip dinner. Other days he might even just forget all-togather to eat atall untill very late at night. Now though, she had him eating most meals and he wouldn't be suprised if he had gained a bit of weight. He'd been on the thinner side for the greater amount of his life so it wouldn't hurt him to gain a bit. He wasn't too worried about it.
She left the room and after a minute or two Collin followed. Today he was wearing jeans that had most definately seen better days, with rips at the ends and in the knees but comfortable, and a grey t-shirt. He didn't realy care too much what he looked like today because they would just be driving. When he got into the kitchen, Miranda was leaning against the counter texting on her phone, something that seemed to be one of her favorite pass-times. When she saw that he was also in the room she looked up at him. ". “Do you need horses to train when the owner gets Arrow?” Collin nodded slowly before speaking. "Yeah. I was hoping that if Arrow does alright that someone might want me to train a horse or two for them. If not though theres always the competition with Scuro." Scuro was a breed all in herself. She'd never failed to atleast try her hardest in a test, even if she didn't win.
Miranda handed him a bowl of cereal that he took and held in one hand, stirring absently with the sthingy with the other hand. ‘My dad has like eight two year olds that need some breaking. He told me he would let us bring four of them down if you want to take them and train them for him. He would pay you whatever you charge. “ Collin looked up at her then and smiled at the thought of a whole group of young, frisky colts and fillies galloping around a pasture, just like Cloud. He couldn't imagine having enough horses to be able to just up and send four or so off just for things like breaking. It must be something. "Well I'm not so sure about four, since showing season is getting underway again and I don't realy want to be at the barns 24/7, but I could look at one or two to bring back and train." He didn't even have Cloud fully broke yet; and since the colt's injury had set him back, Collin would probably have to almost completely start over the gentling to saddle process. "Thanks."
She packed some sandwiches and drinks in a cooler quickly so they wouldn't have to use any extra money. “Honey, I’m going to the stables, so hop in or meet me there.“ She said, patting his head like a mother would to her child. Collin nodded and went to grab his bag by the door before sliding his feet into his boots and setting his hat firmly on his head. Locking the door after him, he followed her out to the truck and set his bags in. They drove to the stables and Collin jumped out just as they stopped, almost knocking his hat off in the process. Farrow came bounding out of the stable as fast as his old legs would carry him, leaping on Collin enthusiasticly. Collin patted the old canine's head and smiled slightly, but that smile soon turned into a frown. "I never thought about what to do with Farrow while we're gone. He's used to spending his nights alone but not all day, and I can't take him to a dog boarding shelter because he'd most likely get too still to move. The only reason he's still moving now is because he's got all this space."

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Miranda didn’t quite know how to back light. Where she was a girl, she liked to do her hair and what not. Then she had to back every clothes just in case that time of the month came and had to pack stuff for that. Then she had toothbrushes, hair brushes, and a razor. Then her being a girl, she did have to have certain pants with certain kinds of shirts and what not, and certain boots for certain shirts. She could be a girl at times.. She just didn’t wear make-up. When she moved to Pinewood, the whole back of her truck was loaded up and even the tack room and living space of the trailer was filled up. Yes, she didn’t pack light.
She had found him in the bedroom and wrapped her arms around his neck and told him they needed to leave soon. He bent his head down a little to look at her. She smiled to him. He rested his chin on the top of her head gently and she gave him a small hug. Yes, Wyoming was far away. It was a good 24 hour drive or more. And it would take both of them to drive there. If they had to, they could stop at a truck stop and tie the horses up at the trailer and they could sleep in the living quarters of the trailer. It had a bed and what not in there. She was sure they might need to stop for a couple hours to sleep.. And let the horses take a break from standing in the trailer and going over bumps and what not and stand on still ground and rest.
Miranda told him to go get some breakfast. He gave her a sulky face. She looked at him and smiled. She knew he wouldn’t complain because he was going to eat whether he liked it or not. Miranda knew that he hadn’t eaten much before she came around because his house was usually empty of food. Or he ate it all then had nothing to eat. But either way he didn’t eat much. He told her once before that he didn’t eat every meal. Miranda was a big fan of eating. And that was probably why she was a little chunkier than he was. But a little chunk on Collin wouldn’t hurt him one ounce. He was too skinny. He needed some meat on his bones.
Miranda wore some hip hugger jeans, that had holes in the knees and were frayed at the bottom where they covered her boots. Her shirt was a tight low cut shirt.. Something that she just pulled out. Her hair was pulled up so it was out of her face. She was leaning against the counter, texting like always. She noticed Collin came into the kitchen and she asked him about if he needed some horses to train. "Yeah. I was hoping that if Arrow does alright that someone might want me to train a horse or two for them. If not though theres always the competition with Scuro." was his reply. She smiled to him and kept on going with the subject about her dad having some colts.
She was glad that he took the bowl of cereal. She would hand feed him if she had to. Breakfast was the most important, especially when they both were going to be driving. "Well I'm not so sure about four, since showing season is getting underway again and I don't really want to be at the barns 24/7, but I could look at one or two to bring back and train." He told her. She nodded in agreement with that. That was understandable. Her dad would surely let him bring down two of his choice. “Ok, sounds good. I understand that completely.” She told him and packed up a cooler for the trip. “Thanks.” He told her. She looked at him and grinned. “You’re welcome.” She told him.
"I never thought about what to do with Farrow while we're gone. He's used to spending his nights alone but not all day, and I can't take him to a dog boarding shelter because he'd most likely get too still to move. The only reason he's still moving now is because he's got all this space." He told her when he noticed that Farrow was here. She looked at the dog and smiled a little. The dog would have a blast in Wyoming. He could even come along on the trail rides with them. “Give him a quick bathe and we can bring him along. He won’t be any trouble at the ranch, unless you think he will. If not, Soncee could watch him too. I’m sure she would anyway.” She told him.
They got to the barn when he brought in his bag into the truck. She parked and got her horses ready. Traveling always felt better when you were clean, so horses must feel the same way. She got them all cleaned up. She combed through their manes and tails. She braided their tails and then made sure the bedding in the trailer wasn’t nasty and it wasn’t it smelled new. Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range It would of been realy good if they'd be able to drive non stop, just switching back and forth so that the other could sleep and getting there quickly; but because Collin had absolutely no idea where he was going or even what the American highways were like; it wasn't a good idea for him to be driving without direction from Mirand for more than maybe an hour. He'd probably be perfectly fine as long as he was told where to go; but other than that there was a large chance that he'd get lost since this would be his first time out of state; or even out on a trip longer than an hour or two for that matter, since he'd come to America. All of this was new to him and while busy roads were stressful for anyone, they'd be even worse for him. He'd grown up with miles of land between him and the london traffic, and the worst he'd seen was a few cars infront of and behind him. Not bumper to bumper traffic for miles on end.
Miranda hugged him when he rested his chin on top of her head for a moment before telling him that he needed to go eat. He gave her a sulky face but didn't complain since he knew it wouldn't do too much good and would just waste time. After she left to go into the kitchen he followed her, taking the bowl of cereal that she handed him he took the sthingy and stirred it around silently; not realy hungry, before eating about half of it. Looking up he watched Miranda pack things into a small cooler. She was wearing jeans that hugged her hips. They- as his did- had holes in them and were a bit frayed. Her shirt was cut fairly low and unlike some of the t-shirts she normaly wore; it was more body fitting instead of loose. Although she hadn't realy thought much about what she'd worn- Collin thought that she looked nice. Not that he'd realy say that being that he thought saying so sounded just a little...sappy.
When he came into the kitchen, Miranda looked up from her texting and he flashed a quick smile at her. Soon she brought up the subject of his training horses, and asked him whether or not he needed another horse to train once Arrow was taken back to his home to serve as a children's barrel racer. Collin told her that he did indeed need another horse, explaining that he was hoping to win over a few people and train their horses after the competitions coming up. He was slightly suprised when she said that her dad had agreed to let him break some yearlings for him, but pleased at the same time. Here was someone that had never once met him that was willing to go by words and trust that Collin was a good trainer. Ofcourse that could all change; but hopefuly he and Miranda's father would get along.
Answering truthfuly, Collin knew that he wouldn't be able to gentle four yearlings at once and do it well- so he thanked Miranda for thinking of him and asking her dad, then told her that he'd probably only be able to work with one or two. He already had his hands full with Cloud and Scuro; and the more he took on the less work each animal would get. Although extra money would be nice- it would be wrong for him to stretch his care as further than its limits and not give each the attention and exercise they deserved. “Ok, sounds good. I understand that completely.” He was glad that she did understand, and didn't take any offense in it. "Your welcome".
They left for the stables not long afterwards with the trailer in tow, and once they got out Collin's large tan and grey wolfhound came out to greet them enthusiasticaly. He lived here in the barns not only to be a companion and watchdog for the horses; but also because after Collin had left England his father had made him either take the dog with him or take him to the pound, and his trailer was just too small for a large dog like him to be in. Anyways- Collin was here more than he was at home so it just made sense. Farrow loved it out here and usualy slept in Scuro's stall. When he reached down to pat the canine's head though, Collin remembered something. He wouldn't be here to feed and watch Farrow. The dog couldn't go to a shelter while he was gone because he hadn't been vaccinated this year, was too big and most shelters wouldn't take dog's his size, and being old- if he were cooped up all of the time he would get realy stiff. Collin explained this to Miranda and she quickly came up with a solution. “Give him a quick bathe and we can bring him along. He won’t be any trouble at the ranch, unless you think he will. If not, Soncee could watch him too. I’m sure she would anyway
Collin nodded thoughtfuly, working his way through Farrow's tangled fur. "He's perfectly used to sheep, cattle, other dogs, horses, you name it so I think he'd be ok. Might get a bit antsy in the truck but he's big enough to ride with the horses if theres room. If not he could sit in the back of the truck." Farrow tilted his head to look adoringly at Collin, his tounge hanging out as he panted. Glancing down at the dog Collin sighed. "Guess I'll go do the evil deed of bathing him now then. With that he left to get a rope to tie Farrow with, and some soap. When he came back with the rope in one hand; he walked up to the dog then slipped the rope around Farrow before the dog could comprehend what was happening.
Bathing Farrow was not a fun job. When Collin had finaly suceeded in bathing and combing out the dogs fur, trimming his hair so that he didn't look so mangy and drying him off, he was probably almost as wet as the wolfhound was. He clapped his hands togather when he was finished- patted Farrow who was pitifuly whining at him, then took a small halter that he'd taken from Game's stash and slipped it onto Farrow since he didnt have a collar. "There you go sir. You can't go romp anymore though because I know you'll just roll, Same as the horses. " Farrow whined again and laid down on the cement; head in paws. Collin next went to check on Cloud who was looking much more like his old self. Just yesterday he'd let the colt out into the roundpen with a boot on and close supervision. The young animal had loved it and Collin had told Soncee that she was welcome to let Cloud out of his stall and into the roundpen if she watched him, just incase she didn't feel like walking him. He re-bandaged Cloud's leg, the bandage being thin and less supportive than the one first used; then gave the colt a flake of hay. "I'll see you when I get back Friend." The colt just looked cooly at him and turned to munch on the hay. he didn't understand.
Next Collin went to Scuro's stall where Miranda was standing and waved to her before coming up to her and kissing her cheek lightly. "Do you need help with anything?" He asked, grabbing Scuro's halter and lead rope. He entered the stall and haltered her; lead her out and tied her in the aisle so that he could brush her off and wrap her legs for the journey. He couldn't risk her kicking or getting kicked and injuring herself. He already had his tack organized so after he wrapped Arrow and Scuro's legs he'd be ready to go.

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Miranda had a feeling that they would just have to stop on the way and take a nap or something. Unless it was just a long straight down the road. Which there was parts on the way that were 4 hours on the same road. But still, that was a long drive, it would take two days. And the horses needed to have their break from standing in the bouncy trailer and sit and rest. You didn’t want to stress them out too much. And not to mention the traffic. Collin probably had never driven a huge 10 horse trailer that had living quarters and a walk in tack room. The trailer was really long. And he hadn’t driven one in the traffic, she was sure of it. So she would probably end up driving most of the way.
They talked about Collin taking a few of her father’s two year olds to start for him. And they both agreed that four was to many while Collin was showing Scuro and still breaking Cloud. They would have to start over after Cloud has been laid off for so long. Collin seemed really excited about bringing back a few horses for him to train. And she was sure him and her father would get along just fine. Her dad was a nice guy, he knew how to get along with just about everyone. He was a nice guy.. that’s all she could say. Yes, her father had his moments when she was a child, but other than that he was a nice guy around people he really didn’t know. So Collin shouldn’t have an ounce of troubles negotiating with the man about training horses.
Miranda understood that the dog couldn’t be left at a shelter.. The dog was old and needed running time. All dogs did. And you couldn’t leave him here without some supervision. So she told him to give him a quick bathe, get him cleaned up and they could take him with them. "He's perfectly used to sheep, cattle, other dogs, horses, you name it so I think he'd be ok. Might get a bit antsy in the truck but he's big enough to ride with the horses if there’s room. If not he could sit in the back of the truck." He told her. Miranda chuckled at the part with sticking him in the back with the horses. The horses had dividers and they had a mat bolted onto the bottoms of the dividers so if one kicked they wouldn’t kick the other horse beside them. So it made it safer. They could put him in the very back but that wasn’t a nice thing to do with a dog. “Well, let’s just try him in the back seat, and if that don’t work we can stick him in the bed of the truck.” She told him. "Guess I'll go do the evil deed of bathing him now then. He said and took the dog to go give him a bath.
Miranda came back in the barn for some help with the hay. She met Collin at Scuro’s stall. . "Do you need help with anything?" He asks. She smiled and nodded. ” Actually yes. If you can, could you help me put hay bales on top of the trailer where there is a rack for them?” She asks and watched him go into Scuro’s stall to wrap up her legs. That was a good idea for the horse. She was probably older and needed the extra protection. “I will just meet you out to the trailer.” She told him. She turned and walked out to the trailer and made sure that all the hay bags in the trailer had hay in them for the horses to munch on. And the windows were down so they could get some air. She looked around and yawned and stepped out and got a drink of water from a nearby hose by the barn.
She came back and checked her phone. She texted back a few people that had texted her and looked around. She decided to let Collin put Scuro and Arrow in the front of the trailer that way if anything happened they wouldn’t be in the back where they could fall out of the trailer. But she doubted that would happen. But just in case, and in the front it was less bumpy, well that’s what people said anyway. She would put her horses along the back end of the trailer.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range One thing that Collin had always had trouble with when it came to training another person's horse, was making a price and sticking to it. He was never sure how much money was too much and how much was too little. Every horse trained differently from the next. A few horses were completely willing to comply with what you want them to do, and had naturaly want-to-please attitudes like Arrow did. They were usualy easy to break and have completely gentled within a few weeks. Ofcourse it did depend alot on how much they had been handled before coming to Collin. You couldn't start trying to ride a horse that didn't even have the simple ground manners. He'd had a few colts and fillies that had lived in a pasture all of their lives and wouldn't even allow him to touch them, then there had been a few who had been so well mannered and well trained that it had hardly taken any effort to train them. Some horses- opposite of the ones like Arrow, took months and months to train- and even then alot of the were still labeled green and ready only for experienced riders. Collin often let the owner of the horse or horses that he was training decide on the price that they would pay. The price also varied greatly depending on what kind of shelter the owner wanted provided. The price was much lower when their horse was just put into the pasture all of the time, but if they had a future show horse or expensive animal they often wanted the colt or filly put into a stall- and because Collin had to pay boarding he charged more for that. When he trained a horse the animal was fed, cleaned and shod according to the way its owner wanted, so pretty much there were alot of options. Also any specialty training such as teaching the horse a certain sport or disipline affected the cost too. Thats probably how he'd do it this time. Let the owner pick the price as long as it was reasonable.
Taking Farrow along with them on the trip to Wyoming wasn't the most genius and foolproof plans that Collin had ever had. The dog would still have to sit still in the truck for a long time as they got to Miranda's ranch. Ofcourse, he'd get out more often than if he were at a shelter- and he'd be with people and animals that he knew, but there was still the chance that he would still get stiff. There wasn't much else of a choice though, so they would just have to hope for the best. As Collin finished clean Farrow up, he straightened up and surveyed the tan dog. Although not perfect; the dog looked far better than before. Instead of his hair laying in stringy clumps on his back, it now evenly laid smoothly down. His fur was still slick from the water and was a few shades lighter now that he was clean. Instead of a dark grey and tan he was smokey colored and a light beige mix.Quickly he took out a small pair of scissors and clipped the hair hanging over Farrow's head, making it better to see the dog's brown eyes. Then finaly, he was done. "Good boy." Farrow let out a sad little whine as Collin slipped Game's leather halter over him and buckled it snugly on. Luckily the dog and Game were very close to the same size. Soon Collin had the dog tied up where he wouldn't get himself dirty again by a thin leadrope, and was striding over to where Scuro and Miranda was.
Scuro's head was over the stall door, staring brightly towards Collin as he approached the stall. She could feel the excitement in the air and knew that something was coming up, even if not exactly what it was. When he came up and stroked her cheek lightly the mare whickered low in her throat, her brown eyes quizzical but excited. "Hello Beauty" Collin smiled, patting the mare's nose then turning to Miranda with the same smile on his face. "And other Beauty." He added before grabbing a halter and leadrope. Entering the stall he was easily able to halter the mare and lead her out. Scuro danced on her toes, ready for anything as Collin led her to a ring beside her stall and tied her to it. As he began to wrap her legs with thick red bandaging he asked Miranda if she needed help with anything . ” Actually yes. If you can, could you help me put hay bales on top of the trailer where there is a rack for them?” He nodded in answer, smoothing out one of the leg wraps with his fingers. "Sure. Let me just finish up with Scuro and I'll come out to do them." he agreed, standing up to his full height and surveying the four identicle bandages. “I will just meet you out to the trailer.” He nodded wordlessly. Scuro was in no way an elder horse at only eight years, but he'd always made it a point to wrap her legs well just incase she got banged around or kicked by another horse on the long trip. A horse- no matter how well he normaly acted, could never be trusted when on a long paitence testing drive like this one and he'd rather be safe than sorry. Scuro who had been standing stock still all this while, bend her head around to gaze lovingly at her owner. Collin patted her glossy neck before quickly wrapping her tail a bit and running over her back with a small brush, and checking her hooves for dirt. Once done he fed the mare a broken piece of carrot. "I'll be back for you." He promised, before walking out to help Miranda.
Miranda was standing out by the trailer texting when he came out into the sunshine, and he walked over to her quickly and smiled his greeting. Looking around to find the hay bales that she was talking about, he soon saw them. Going over to them he picked one up and glanced up to where they should go- on top of the trailer. After a moment he shrugged and tossed one up, followed by the rest of the bales. When he was done he had hay dust in his face so he sneezed. "Escuse me." He said, shaking his head to clear away the dust a bit. "Do you have a rope or anything to secure them with?" He asked then, glancing over at Miranda. After a moment he left to go back into the barn and get Arrow ready.
It didn't take long to halter Arrow, brush him off and wrap his legs. The gelding as always was a perfect gentleman even though he was obviously excited by the break in the routine. His ears were pricked and he made soft purring sounds in the direction that Scuro was, his eyes livid. Collin smiled at the gelding. He hadn't seen the horse look so lively in a while. Soon both Arrow and Scuro were completely ready for the journey and Collin had untied both gelding and mare. "Ready you guys?" he asked, smiling as Scuro pranced excitedly when they neared the trailer. Arrow was much calmer; but his stride definately had an extra bounce in it. Once they were close to the trailer he tied both horses two feet apart from eachother and looked over at Miranda. "Now what?"

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Now that that Farrow, the dog, had been bathed and trimmed up for the ride. Miranda had gotten horses caught and brushed for the road trip. They were all tied up the trailer outside, ready to go. She came back in and met Collin at Scuro’s stall. She was watching the mare when Collin came. “Hello Beauty.” He told the mare. Miranda smiled a little then Collin added, “And other beauty.” Miranda blushed and looked at the horse. She hadn’t blushed in a long time. She didn’t know why that made her do so though. It was weird but she could get use to it. At least Collin was nice to her, and cared about her more than any other man she had been with. Collin led the mare out of her stall and tied her up and started to wrap her legs. Miranda asked him if he could help her get some bales on the trailer. "Sure. Let me just finish up with Scuro and I'll come out to do them." He told her. She smiled and told him to meet her at the trailer. She went out and she was texting, waiting for Collin to come out.
Miranda was by the truck texting, she liked to text. It was an easy way of conversation without spending hours blabbering on the phone. She showed him wear the bales were and the little rack thing on top of the trailer to put them. That was one good thing about men, they were strong and could throw and carry bales like they were nothing. Miranda was strong, but not that strong. She couldn’t throw them that high. Collin sneezed from the dust. “Excuse me.” He says and she smiled. ‘Bless you.” She says and stepped over to him and dusted him off a little bit. "Do you have a rope or anything to secure them with?" He asks her. She nodded. She went to the truck, and in the tool box she brought out a tow rope. She brought it to him. “There you go.” She told him and smiled and looked up at to where the bales were.
Collin came out with both Scuro and Arrow. He tied them up a few feet from each other so they didn’t hurt each other if they decided to kick. But she doubted they would. "Now what?" He asked her. She smiled. “Let’s load Scuro and Arrow first. That way they have less chance of getting pushed out. But I doubt that would happen anyway. But I hear its less bumpy in the front. She told him and opened the back of the trailer. “Then I will load up Streak and Sonny, and the other three horses I’m bringing so my dad can sell them or use them.” She told him.
Once the horses were loaded and secured safely in the trailer. She looked at the tired to make sure with the weight they didn’t look flat. They didn’t so she checked the truck’s tires as well. They were still good. She looked at Collin. “Have your tack and stuff?” She asks. She shut and locked the door to the living quarters and looked in the tack room, not seeing anything of Collin’s in there. So she kept it open and walked around the front of the truck and got in the drivers seat. She turned the truck on and turned on the air conditioning so it wasn’t suffocating in there when they went to leave.
She yawned and checked her phone, no texts. That was a bummer. She of course wouldn’t text to much while driving. At least not in big traffic that is. Once Collin’s stuff was in the trailer she looked around for the dog. “Come here Farrow.” She told him and helped him in her truck in the back seat, where there was a big old quilt covering the seat so he wouldn’t get the seat hairy. She smiled. “Good boy.” She told him and rubbed his head. She shut the door and then she got in the drivers seat and closed her door. She turned down the air conditioning because it was just a bit chilly. She fiddled with the radio, waiting for Collin to get in.
Once he was in she put her seat belt on and she pulled out of the parking lot and started down the road. “Do we have everything?” She asks him. She didn’t think she was forgetting anything. She pulled up onto the interstate. The traffic wasn’t bad since everyone was at work by this time so it was easy driving. Miranda really hated the trip to Wyoming but it was worth when you got there. She looked to Collin than back at the road. “I’m thinking we will have to stop somewhere tonight and sleep in the living quarters. I’m sure you aren’t comfortable driving a big rig like this, in traffic.” She told him and smiled a little. It took a long time to get use to. She remembered how she was nervous when she started driving big trailers.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range Before when Collin had finished cleaning up Farrow and was headed towards Scuro's stall- he saw that Miranda was standing there apparently talking to the mare. Scuro was listening politely even though she obviously had no idea what the girl was saying, with her ears pricked and her head slung over the door to look at Miranda. When the mare saw Collin though she whickered lightly and bobbed her head, welcoming him to join them. He came up to her and patted her lightly- greeting her with a 'hello beauty.' Then though, he turned to Miranda and with a bit of a smile evident on his face he added, 'and beauty.' Miranda suprisingly blushed when he said that, making him smile wider. In the weeks that he'd known her he'd never seen her blush before. Before he grabbed a halter for Scuro he leaned over and kissed Miranda's cheek, then dissapeared into the stall to bring Scuro out.
Once Collin got outside into the sunshine, and walked over to where Miranda was leaning against the trailer texting away on her phone as usual, ten minutes or so had passed. Miranda's horses were tied to the trailer, brushed and ready to go. Sonny, Streak, and three other horses that Collin didn't recognize were lined up and waiting. Collin strided towards Miranda and stopped infront of her to see what she needed. When she showed him the bales of hay stacked up that needed to be put ontop of the trailer, he didn't waste and time in going over to them and picking one up by the twine wrapped around it. Glancing up at the top of the trailer he measured the distance he needed to throw it briefly, then with a quick toss the bale was sitting on the trailer- balancing just barely. He'd need to secure that before they set off on their journey. He did the same thing for the rest of the bales and when he was done, he was covered in hay dust and pieces that had come loose. Some of the dust got in his face and he sneezed, shaking his head a bit to rid of any other floating particles. Good thing he wasn't allergic to hay like a few people in england that he knew were. He'd have a terrible time.
‘Bless you.” Miranda said when he sneezed. He smiled slightly at her. "Thanks." Looking up at the trailer once again he asked Miranda if she had anything to tie the bales onto the trailer with. She dissapeared and soon was back with what looked like a tow rope.“There you go.” she said, holding it out. "Works for me" He grinned, taking the rope. Now how to get it secured onto the bales... the trailer was tall and didn't exactly look easy to climp. Soon he just settled with tying one end of the rope on one side then throwing the rope to the other side and securing it that way. It wasn't fool proof and if they were to hit something the bales would most likely slide off- but it worked well enough if they were careful. Collin brushed his hands togather to get rid of any remaining hay dust then went back into the dimly lit barn to collect Scuro and Arrow.
Scuro had known for a while that something was up, and when he entered the barn again she greeted him with a very enthusiastic whinny. Collin covered his ears and grinned at the mare before untying her and patting her glossy neck. "Time to go now, lovely." The mare bobbed her head happily and willingly pranced beside him as they went down the aisle a bit to collect Arrow. Obviously Scuro's excitement was contagiouse too, because once Arrow saw them coming towards him he gave a strange gutteral whicker towards them. When Collin untied him and began to lead the two out to the trailer Collin noticed that even though the horse wasn't dancing on his toes like Scuro was, the bay gelding was stepping gamely beside them with a lively look on his face. Collin tied the two horses a few feet away from eachother with enough slack to graze a bit before turning to Miranda to see if there was anything else that needed done.
“Let’s load Scuro and Arrow first. That way they have less chance of getting pushed out. But I doubt that would happen anyway. But I hear its less bumpy in the front. She said, opening the trailer to start loading the horses. “Then I will load up Streak and Sonny, and the other three horses I’m bringing so my dad can sell them or use them.” So thats why the other three horses were going with them. Miranda was downsizing her herd a bit. Ofcourse, the space taken today would still be full when they came back if all went well and Collin brought back some yearlings. He nodded agreeably when Miranda finished talking. "Ok." he answered. . “Have your tack and stuff?” Collin shook his head and pointed to where he had a medium sized tack-trunk sitting by the barn door. "I'll go get it." Already his personal things were in the truck so this would be the last of the things to load, not counting the horses. He picked it up, staggering a bit for a moment before he got good footing, then went over and put it into the trailer along with Miranda's tack. He then went over to Scuro and untied her once again- leading her over to the trailer. They had worked many times on loading so now the mare was perfectly fine with stepping in, and she didn't make a bit of a fuss as she was tied to a ring and left with a pat on the shoulder.
Arrow was a little more difficult. All of the chaos as they prepared and Scuro's excitement had made the quarterhorse a bit jumpy, and as they neared the trailer he balked- looking worriedly at Collin. "its alright big guy. Nothing to be afraid of." The horse snorted noisily and stood there considering the large box for a moment, then he finaly followed Collin. He took his first wary step onto the ramp, shivering at the clinking sound his hooves made but then following along obediently. He relaxed a little bit when he saw Scuro calmly munching on some hay and dropped his head to inspect the straw on the floor. Once Miranda's horses were loaded and they shut the trailer, Collin did hear the gelding let out a grunt of annoyance in being closed up, but other than that the horse was quiet.
Collin then jogged over to where he'd left Farrow, unclipping the leadshank just as Miranda called him “Come here Farrow.” The dog woofed lightly and sprang into action, barreling towards Miranda with his pink tounge hanging out. His fur was mostly dry by now and as he hopped into the back of the truck and settled onto the quilt laid out for him, he wagged his tail. Miranda patted his head before closing the door and getting into the drivers seat. Collin got over there a moment later and also got in as Miranda fiddled around with the radio a bit. “Do we have everything?” He nodded as he buckled the seat-belt. "I think so." Miranda pulled the truck and trailer out onto the road, not speaking for a few minutes. “I’m thinking we will have to stop somewhere tonight and sleep in the living quarters. I’m sure you aren’t comfortable driving a big rig like this, in traffic.” That was true. "Yeah. I can drive some when we're on the straight shot roads though, if you want to take a break." He offered, glancing out the window. Farrow had fallen asleep even in the few minutes they'd been in the truck so he wasn't a problem for now. Everything was good.

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Miranda wasn’t much for blushing, but Collin had seemed to do a good job the moment he said what he did. She smiled to him. He kissed her cheek and left to get Scuro ready. "Thanks." He told her when she said ‘bless you’ from when he sneezed from the dust in the hay. She helped dust him off a little bit and smiled. That was one thing she hated about horses, the hay was dusty and got you dirty in a hurry. And sometimes it made you itch, especially when it got down your shirt and sat in your bra. She hated that. And when it got in her hair and wouldn’t come out because she couldn’t see it but could feel it in her hair. "Works for me" He told her when she gave him a tow rope type thing to secure the bales. She liked to just watch the man work. He thought threw things.. It was amazing.
He loaded up Scuro with ease, and Arrow had a bit of trouble but soon was in. He was content on standing in there munching on hay next to Scuro. Collin had closed the divider so he would have less chance of getting kicked. She smiled when Collin got out. ‘Arrow did pretty good for not being experience with trailers.” She told him then loaded up Sonny. Sonny going in like it was nothing. Then she loaded up Streak, Streak hesitated a bit but got in and started munching on his hay. She smiled then loaded up the other three horses. They were a little harder to get in, but after a few tugs they got in and were ready to go.
Soon all the horses were ready, the hay was up in the hay rack at the top of the trailer, everything was fine and dandy, ready to go. She got Farrow loaded up in the back seat of the truck. Farrow seemed to be doing just fine so far. She asked Collin if he had all his stuff, and he didn’t He went back into the barn and grabbed his tack box and put it in the tack room of the trailer. She smiled glad she reminded him about it. She got in and buckled up and fiddled with the radio then started to drive, getting on the interstate. Yeah. I can drive some when we're on the straight shot roads though, if you want to take a break." He told her. She smiled. ‘Ok, sounds like a plan.” She told him and watched the road as they got into traffic.
It was kind of a quiet ride through the day. They stopped to get gas once, and ate some snacks she packed so they would save a bit on money. She then pulled up at a place where you went on trail rides so they could unload the horses legally and walk them around a little bit. Then loaded back up and headed down the road for some more time. She wasn’t tired until it started to get dark. She drove a few hours then pulled up at a truck stop and fueled up for the second time. She went in to pay and asked if it was ok if they kept the horses tied up to her trailer over night, because some places didn’t like you to. They told her they didn’t mind and she pulled the trailer up in the back where they were alone and unloaded the horses and gave each one some hay in their own hay bags. Miranda was prepared for just about anything.
She yawned then went to the cooler and got a bottle of water and some chips and munched on them. She then went into the camper part of the trailer and sat on the bed and yawned. She laid back and rubbed her face. She yawned again then got up and grabbed herself some PJ’s and changed in the tack room so she had her privacy. She didn’t think Collin had seen her actually change her clothes before so she wasn’t going to let him now. It would probably scare him. She came back into the camper part and finished her water and ate some more chips. She looked at Collin. Then wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips. ‘I love you.” She told him and smiled. She needed to be held tonight.. Going all day with the man of your dreams sitting two feet from you was like torture when you could be held in his arms. To her it was like that anyway. So now, it was time for them to just relax in each others arms.
“Go change and come lay down with me.” She told him and kissed his cheek then let go of him so he could go change. She then crawled up into the bed and under the covers and got comfortable. It took her a few minutes to get comfortable. She rolled around a little bit but just couldn’t get quite comfortable. She was getting rather angry over it too. She then knew when Collin came up to sleep with her she would get comfortable like she had many times before, so she laid on her back and waited for him. She closed her eyes and thought about Collin and her parents. Would they get along? She sure hoped so. Would he pop the question after he got permission from her parents? Oh, she didn’t know. That was a bit over the top. She couldn’t see Collin doing that, not now. Heck, they had only been together for about three weeks. Unless he felt a real urge that he wanted to marry her. But she wouldn’t know until it happened. But she didn’t think he would actually do so.
Her thoughts drifted off to the rodeo coming up. She smiled, it was going to be so much fun. She was so excited. She was excited for herself and Streak, along with Collin and Arrow. Tomorrow they would have a day to practice a little bit. Then the next day was their day to shine. She couldn’t wait. She also couldn’t wait for Collin to train the two year olds that her dad offered him to train. She hoped everything would work out and be just fine and dandy. Btu she was sure it would turn out that way.. With some bumps along the way.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range Collin hadn't been completely sure of what to expect of Arrow when he tried to load the bay gelding into the trailer. He didn't realy expect the equine to threaten to kick or bite, or do anything like that because the horse had such an agreeable temperment and a calm disposition. He more expected the whole 'I'm so tough and you can't make me' act from a colt or filly Cloud's age, new to loading. Thats what he expected the horses he'd be bringing back to act like. But then again- Arrow had obviously not had much experience with loading either, as with everything else. When the gelding had first arrived here in Pinewood he hadn't even known how to properly act when being led by a human. Thankfuly he was a fast and easy learner so he'd picked up what to do quickly and was able to do it like a pro mere days later- but you never know. So just incase- he held the leadrope firmly to keep from losing the horse if he did indeed try to get away.
The horse ended up being perfectly fine with loading once he'd figured out what was expected and what he was going into, and was loaded fairly quickly. Ofcourse- Scuro had done perfectly fine and even seemed excited to get into the large trailer since for so many years she had been loaded countless times. The only difference this time was that the space she was given was a bit larger and she would be sharing her quarters with other horses. Just incase though, Collin closed the partion between his two horses to prevent and kicking or bumping. He left the two horses munching hay contentedly, not paying any mind as he slipped away to finish with getting his stuff togather.
Miranda smiled at him when he appeared out of the trailer, commenting on Arrow's willingness to obey what he was asked to do. ‘Arrow did pretty good for not being experience with trailers.” Collin nodded and grinned back at her. "He did. I wasn't sure how he'd act but other than hesitating a bit- he acted like he's done it all of his life." he agreed, standing back to watch as Miranda led first Sonny, then Streak into the trailer. Sonny walked in like the gentle horse he seemed to be, and although Streak hesitated a bit like Arrow had, he did great for such a young and high spirited horse. Miranda's other three horses were a little less willing to get into the trailer- but after a bit of coaxing and pulling they all complied and soon the trailer was shut, ready to go.
Collin once again offered to drive some if she wanted him to on the longer stretches of road, and she agreed readily. ‘Ok, sounds like a plan.” she said. Then they were off. With the horses, tack, hay, and clothes packed they were finaly ready to set out on their journey- and the next half day passed slowly but surely, driving over the miles and miles of road, passing everything from large traffic and bridges to cows chewing dry grass on the sides of the roads. For a while Collin was content to stare out the window and watch things go by, but soon he got bored and he spent a good while just sort of doing this and that- tracing the brim of his hat that was now in his lap, watching Farrow, or gazing at Miranda.
Farrow did fairly well for the first three or four hours, but then he got restless. He took turns pacing the back seat and staring out the window- his tail thumping not realy out of bliss but out of nothing else to do. Once when he tried jumping forwards to be with Miranda and Collin, Collin had to turn around and push him down- patting and scratching his head till he fell asleep again. He did alright though- considering. Sometime after mid-day Miranda stopped the truck to let the horses stretch their legs- and the moment the truck stopped Farrow let out a bark and jumped up- viberating excitedly. "Hold on there, you old flea-bag. I'll let you out" Collin laughed, clipping the leadrope he'd been using as a leash onto the dog's halter before getting out. When Farrow was finaly let out he practicaly pulled Collin over making a bee-line towards a tree to uh..take care of his business. After a minute Collin tied him to the tree and went over to unload his horses and let them move around a bit. They didn't stay long but it was enough time to let both horses get the kinks out of their legs and graze for a minute- then they had to be put back in the trailer. Both horses were reculent to get in but they didn't try to stop, they just pinned their ears a bit.
Farrow though, was a different story. The dog growled and pulled backwards as Collin tried to coax him into the truck again. "Come on then Farrow. Please?" The dog sat down and barked sharply, his eyes wide. Finaly Collin had to resort to throwing a piece of food into the truck to get him in, but it worked and once again they were on their way. They didn't stop again except for gas untill Miranda got tired sometime after the sun had set. And then it was stopping for the rest of the night at a truck stop. Miranda checked to make sure it was ok to park the trailer and unload the horses, and it was. Soon all of the horses were fed and tied up outside of the trailer- each equipped with hay. Collin filled a water bucket and offered water to each horse, refilling a few times before he was done. Arrow didn't drink much but Collin knew it was just because he was stressed, so he spent a little while stroking the horse to relax him. He unwrapped both horse's legs to air out then went into the living area of the trailer.
Miranda was just leaving to the tackroom to change so he waved at her before she dissapeared, then grabbed a bottle of water from the cooler. The space they had to 'live' in tonight wasn't big but its wasn't incredibly cramped. Miranda appeared a few minutes later wearing pyjamas. She grabbed her own water bottle, drinking the rest of it as well as eating a few chips. Collin hadn't eaten a whole lot today but he still wasn't hungry so he didn't go get something. Miranda came up to him a few minutes later, putting her arms around his neck and kissing him lightly. ‘I love you.” Collin kissed her back and smiled at her- putting his around around her middle, just watching her. "Love you too." he answered. “Go change and come lay down with me.” she said after a moment, kissing his cheek and pulling away. Collin nodded wordlessly before slipping off to change.
He returned a bit later- having decided to quickly check the horses again too. They had all been fine and their leadropes firmly tied to the trailer. Miranda was laying down on the bed, but she wasn't asleep. She'd been waiting. "Sorry." He whispered, laying down beside her. "I went to check the horses realy quick." She'd probably figured that though. It didn't take much to know how much he loved his horses, and that was probably the first thing she assumed. He rolled over on his side so that he was facing her, then reaching over he pulled her a little closer to him and wrapped his arms around her. "Night."

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb.
"He did. I wasn't sure how he'd act but other than hesitating a bit- he acted like he's done it all of his life." She smiled and nodded to him. “Some horses act like they have, and some don’t. It just really depends on the horse. But Arrow is a really good horse so he was pretty willing to do anything.” She says and smiled a bit more. Finally all the horses were loaded up after having to coax and tug on a few of the horses, but all went well and all were in now. So it was off they go down the road to get to where they needed to be.
While Collin was bored in the passenger seat watching the scenery pass by, Miranda was, well driving. You couldn’t really gaze at things while driving so she kept her eyes pretty much planted on the road so they could be as safe as possible. Now Farrow did really well for not being a traveling dog. So she didn’t get angry with the dog. "Hold on there, you old flea-bag. I'll let you out" Collin said when they came to a stop to stretch all the horses legs, and hers too. She was feeling a little stiff. She giggled at Collin’s words and watched the dog. The dog made her laugh. She walked the horses around and let them graze and get some water. Then they were loaded up again to hit the road. Well that’s what they thought. "Come on then Farrow. Please?" He told the dog when he didn’t want to get back into the truck. Miranda laughed, the dog had personality. “Come one Farrow, when we get where we need to be, you can run all you want for a day or so.” She told him. Collin threw some food in the back seat and the dog jumped in to get it. Miranda smiled and hopped in as well.
When the horses were tied up at the truck stop, Collin had watered all the horses. She brushed hers down really good to get them relaxed, especially the younger horses that she was taking back. Sonny was as calm as a old horse should be. He had been to so many shows that he got use to staying nights at truck stops. Streak was well mannered and he studied everything but he didn’t seem to get himself stressed out. So that was good. She looked at Scuro, she was pretty calm, but she was probably a little use to it. Arrow though was having a little bit of trouble. Collin spent some time petting him and Miranda smiled, loving that this man had so much care and love for the horse.
Miranda got changed in the tack room and then came back out in pajamas to be comfortable. She grabbed some water and drank it, and a few chips to munch on. She wasn’t extremely hungry but she needed a little bit of food so she could drive in the morning. “Love you too.” he told her when she said she loved him and wrapped her arms around his neck. She kissed him and he kissed her back with his arms around her middle. Soon she ordered him to go get changed and come lay down with her. Without a word he did so.
She had been laying down while he was gone to change. She seemed to not be able to get comfortable. But she knew that would change when Collin came in. She was always comfortable around him. He came in and climbed into bed beside her. “Sorry…I went to check the horses really quick." He told her in a whisper. She lifted her hand and stroked his cheek with her fingers. “It’s ok. Thanks for checking on them.” She told him and reached up and kissed him again. He rolled so he was facing her and he reached his arm over her and pulled her closer to him. She smiled to him and came closer and buried her face into his chest. ‘Night.” He told her. “Night.” She told him in a muffled voice. She closed her eyes, and soon she was dead asleep there in his arms.
Miranda slept really good that night. Better then she thought she would have. She woke up and looked at Collin. She kissed his cheek gently and got up. She quickly changed right there in front of the bed, figuring he wouldn’t mind because hell.. They had been sleeping together for a few weeks now. He better get use to it. She nudged his foot a little from the end of the bed. ‘I’m going to go into the truck stop to get us a little bit of breakfast. I will be right back.” She told him and walked out the truck stop and went in and bought biscuits with sausage and eggs. She came back and walked into the living quarters and set his down on a small table. “Here is yours.” She told him and smiles. She sat down on a chair and started to eat hers, enjoying the food.
After she ate she went out and put hay in the horses hay bags inside the trailer so they could eat while they were driving. She lunged Sonny a little bit in some nearby grass and tied him up, then lunged Streak. She walked the other three horses around, knowing they didn’t know much about lunging. She brushed them once again so they were ready to go. She waited for Collin to come out for his horses and fix them up so they could head out. As she waited she pulled her phone out and texted a few friends. Then called her mom to tell her that they were going to be there in about 6 hours. She got off the phone and walked back into the living quarters of the trailer and made the bed really fast and put away some of the food. Then went to Farrow and gave him some dog food and a bit of water before they would head out, that way the dog could eat while Collin was getting his horses ready.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range “Some horses act like they have, and some don’t. It just really depends on the horse. But Arrow is a really good horse so he was pretty willing to do anything.” That was true. Right from the start Collin had known that Arrow was a one of a kind type of horse. It wasn't easy to find a horse as gentle but dependable and obedient as Arrow all in one. Usualy the best you could find was some old nag who was gentle but broken down, or an obedient but un-beginner friendly horse. Arrow- although needing alot of work to be the perfect horse, did have the potential to be both though. He was forgiving of mess ups and willing to do almost anything if he understood it. He absoultely loved pleasing his rider or care-taker... if he could get past his stumblings he'd be any little kid's dream horse- even if he didn't win every barrel racing competition. Collin just hoped that the horse would be taken into a deserving home. He deserved that much.
The drive was long but it seemed to have gone well. The horses were silent for most of the ride, content to stand quietly in their own places- either dozing or chewing on pieces of hay. Every now and then Collin would hear a stamp as one horse got restless or some rustling to show that it had shifted its weight- but he thought that they were all doing very well considering how long his drive was. The three horses Miranda had brought along to take to her parent's ranch had seemed if not young- inexperienced with all of this, so he had expected some kicking or even squeals as they got irritated with eachother being so close. But having the socialization with other horses and knowing eachother well from the pasture seemed to have done them good because he barely heard a thing from them. Go figure.
Scuro and Arrow had both been very willing to get out of the trailer as Collin had expected. Scuro had trotted down the ramp as if on parade- her ears pricked and head up high as if she were royalty. Collin had walked and trotted her around to get the kinks out of her legs for a few minutes before tying her to the trailer and letting her graze while he did the same thing with Arrow. The gelding walked quietly beside Collin as they circled around some but Collin could tell how much energy he had pent up by the way his stride was jaunty and his eyes were bright with curiosoty. Once he calmed down a bit though and his shoulders loosened up, Collin halted him- patted his neck - and tied him up near Scuro to pick at the grass untill Miranda was ready to go. Farrow didn't realy want to get back into the truck ofcourse. “Come one Farrow, when we get where we need to be, you can run all you want for a day or so.” Ofcourse, their words did no good and Collin had to resort to bribing the dog. Once they had bribed Farrow into the truck though, they were ready to go again.
When they stopped for the last time at the truck stop, Collin helped unload all of the horses, tie them up to the trailer, then offer each one some water. Miranda gave them each some hay for their dinners in their hay bags but while most of them dug in, Arrow just sort of picked at his. He'd been realy nervouse when he'd come off of the trailer for the second time and his neck was slightly damp with sweat. Collin spent a while just talking to the horse and trying to calm him down. Soon Arrow was settled enough to thingy a hoof and doze off- so Collin unbandaged his legs and left to go check Scuro. The mare was perfectly fine- and had already eaten half of her hay. Collin offered her a bit more water then unbandaged her legs also. Scuro nickered when he patted her neck, then he left.
After he and Miranda had both changed clothes, Collin laid down beside her in the bed. She was still awake waiting for him so he quickly apoligized and told her why he'd taken so long. Miranda reached over and ran her hand over his cheek. “It’s ok. Thanks for checking on them.” she answered, kissing him. He smiled at her, rolling over so that he was completely facing her. She moved towards him so that she was closer to him and buried her face in his chest. Smiling, he told her goodnight, and she echoed him with a muffled "night" He reached up to stroke her hair silently, doing so untill she fell asleep.
Miranda had fallen asleep quickly the night before, tired from all of the driving, but she still beat Collin in waking up. She kissed his cheek lightly, waking him up halfway. He opened his eyes a bit and blinked, smiling slightly as she got up out of the bed. He was just about to also get up when he noticed that instead of going into the tackroom like she had the night before, Miranda was changing into her day clothes in here. He watched for a second before turning his head a bit to stare at the wall, not sure if she thought he was still asleep or if she meant for him to see. Either way she didn't realy seem to care because when she saw that he was awake she spoke. ‘I’m going to go into the truck stop to get us a little bit of breakfast. I will be right back.” He nodded and sat up, shaking his head to get his hair out of his eyes.
While she was gone Collin changed into a beige shirt and black jeans, then combed his hair out. Miranda came back a minute later with biscuits with sausage and eggs on them. Collin went over to her and smiled slightly. She sat down, putting his breakfast on the small table. “Here is yours.” she said. "Thanks" he answered, picking it up and eating it. After that he followed Miranda outside of the trailer and as she lunged both Sonny and Streak, Collin trotted Scuro then Arrow around a bit. "How old are those three you're bringing along for your dad?" he asked curiously, stopping Arrow after trotting a few laps. Farrow was eating his dog food in gulps and soon they'd be on their way yet again.

Doesn‘t matter what is on the other side.. What matters is the climb. Not only did Arrow deserve a nice loving home so he can do the things he loves and that he is good at, all horses did. Every horse deserved to go to a nice home that would treat him well, ride them, and take great care of them. Even sometimes the wild horses that really couldn’t be tamed needed a home to go to so they could be wild and be free like their spirits deep down. Miranda believed strongly in that. Her dad had got some mustangs, and some of them are just not meant to be tamed, so often they put them in the wild, even though they didn’t come from the wild. Some horses were just born to be untamed. And each horse needed a certain home to keep him happy.
Mirnada’s horses that were younger that she was taking with her may not be experienced but they had enough work done on them that they had manners. They had excellent ground manners and being tied up and what not. It’s just she hadn’t gotten enough time to ride them and do what she needed to with them. And that was why they were going back to either be sold, or rode at the ranch where her dad had hired people to ride some of the horses. That way they could either be sold to good homes, or be rode on the ranch to be work horses. Either way, but they needed to be doing something besides eating grass and costing money.
They had stopped at a truck stop and unloaded the horses and walked them around to get kinks worked out of their bodies and tied them up and fed and watered each horse. They spent the night in the camper part of the trailer and Miranda had gotten comfortable when Collin finally came in. She fell asleep and was the first one up, which was weird but she seemed to be getting up faster than Collin now days. She had gotten up and was changing in front of him. She was getting more and more comfortable around Collin. She had nothing to hide from him, and sooner or later they were going to see each other nude. They had been sleeping together for the last 3 weeks or so.. So hey it was like they were already married. Except they haven’t had sex, and she was glad of it. She wanted to take her time this time.
She went out and went into the truck stop to get some food. She came back and gave Collin his breakfast then brushed her horses and walked the three around for a few minutes and lunged Streak and Sonny in the grassy area again. She had loaded up their hay bags in the trailer with their breakfast. “How old are those three you're bringing along for your dad?" He asks her. She smiled and looked at them. “Well, this bay one here is four, green broke. Haven’t had the time to ride him so I’m brining him back for the hired men to ride him on the ranch and maybe get him sold. This palomino is six. She has had a lot of riding time on her from when she was at the ranch about 6 months ago, but haven’t rode her since a couple months ago. So I’m taking her back too because she is a wicked ranch horse and would make a good mommy. Then the sorrel one is like eight or nine. He is really broke, but just don’t have time to ride him and he could be rode and tuned up a little bit and sold easily to a little kid.” She told him and smiled. The horses were young.. And some more experience than others.
As Farrow was eating his food, in gulps. She decided to load up Streak and Sonny first this time and she tied them up and shut the divider then waited for Collin to get his horses in. She wouldn’t put his horses at the end. Once his horses were in and ready to go she loaded up her three other horses and shut the door. She made sure it was secure, again checked all the tires and shut and locked the tack room, and living quarters door. She then hopped inside the truck and turned it on. She ran her fingers through her hair. “God, I look like a mess.” She told Collin when he got in and she brushed through her hair with her brush as she looked in the mirror on the sun visor. She let go of the parking brake and put it in drive, then started driving down the road. The road was not heavy with traffic this early in the morning. They drove for a few hours. She stopped for gas once but kept going, not wanting to keep stopping until they got there.
After about 6 hours, they arrived at her house. She pulled up in the long driveway. She parked the truck next to the barn and got out and unloaded her three horses and put them in pens outside the barn that way they could get proper food and care after the long drive. Then she waited for Collin to unload his horses. She unloaded Streak and Sonny. ‘Follow me, I will show you where we can put these guys.” She told him and walked into the barn, where she was sure all the horses were comfortable since at Pinewood they were in stalls. She pointed to a few open stalls for Collin’s horses. “There you go.” She told him and then lead Streak into another open one and let him go and shut and locked his door then put Sonny in another clean stall. She shut and locked his door as well, and gave them both a flake of hay to munch on. She also threw Scuro and Arrow some hay to munch on and checked to make sure the eclectic waters were working in the stalls, and they were.
Then she looked up when she was hanging up the halters on the hangers next to their stalls and saw her parents. She smiled and ran up to them and hugged them both. “ I miss you guys so much. “ She told them and then looked back to Collin. “Mom.. Dad.. This is Collin. My boyfriend.” She told them and her mom walked up to him and hugged him. “ You can call me Michelle” She told him. Miranda’s dad walked up and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you. I’m Dave. I will have to talk to you a little later about those horses.” He said and smiled a little. “Right now, I have to go check some cows, so get comfortable and I will be back for dinner.” He told them and hugged Miranda again, kissed her mom then went out the barn and got on his horse that was already saddled and rode off. Michelle smiled. “I’m going to go in and make dinner. Miranda you know where you guys will be sleeping so go take a quick nap or something. Go rest.” She told her and kissed Miranda’s forehead. Miranda smiled. “Ok, mom.” She says and her mom walked off back into the house. Miranda looked to Collin. “Let’s go grab our bags and go in the house.” She told him and yawned. She took his hand and walked to the truck and let Farrow out and grabbed her two bags she had. Soon enough a blue heeler dog came over and sniffed at Farrow. “Beaver, go show Farrow around. Go play.” She told the dog. Beaver barked and started running off. “Go Farrow.” She told him and laughed. She walked up to the house with her bags and went inside. She passed the kitchen and upstairs to her room. She set her bags down and looked to Collin. “This was my room.. This is where we will be sleeping.” she told him and shut the door behind him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. “I love you.” She told him. She always thought she never said that enough, because she really did love him.
Her phone vibrated and she took it out and it was Soncee. She smiled and texted Soncee back. She turned her phone off and set it on her old dresser. “Soncee said that Cloud was really well mannered and she had no problems with him or the other horses.” She said and kissed him again, more passionately this time. She couldn’t help it, she couldn’t believe Collin was here with her. They were going to have a blast together. She was excited.. And hoped that him and her parents would get along. She was sure they all would though because so far, so good. Not it should just stay that way.

Collin Like a painted wild mustang Flyin' out across the open range Every horse needed a home that could suit their needs. Whether they were already broken-down saddlehorses that had walked in circles all of their lives, or if they were agressive and free-spirited young colts or fillies. They all deserved having someone that could manage their needs and care for them dispite whatever problems they might have. Some of them were so leg-tired that they just needed to be put to pasture and given the attention that they so well deserved, some were able to be slowly built up to what they used to be with good food and rest. Other horses were completely different, needing constant exercize daily to keep their energy levels down. That was half of the problem of all of 'agressive' and 'stubborn' horses. They just needed more to do and less time to think of ways to get into trouble. Then there were the horses like Arrow. The ones that would work their hearts out for you if you asked them to. It was often those horses that got the worse treatment realy, because no one ever realy thought about them needing anything special. They often were tossed to the beginners and the ignorant people, being brushed off and treated like a mechanical robot. Collin hoped that the gelding's owners weren't like that. Arrow was too sweet of a horse to fall into that sort of life.
They had only stopped two or three times the day before, most of the times merely getting more gas, and had made good timing. Their last stop had been at a truckstop, where they had been able to unload the horses for the night and let them relax. They themselves had spent the night in the living compartment of the trailer, which is where they had just emerged from moments ago after eating breakfast. They were both now preparing the horses for the last leg of their journey, feeding and excersizing them. Miranda was lunging both Sonny and streak to get a bit of their energy out, and Collin had just finished handwalking and trotting Arrow around a little bit. The gelding still seemed a little nervouse and unsure so he didn't want to stress the horse out and make him do much. When he untied Scuro though, it was obviouse that she was quite a bit more hyped up than Arrow had been as she danced around on her toes. "Steady lass" Collin murmered, turning her in a figure eight a few times before halting her to look at Miranda's other three horses tied up and eating. After a moment he asked her about them, and she answered.
He is really broke, but just don’t have time to ride him and he could be rode and tuned up a little bit and sold easily to a little kid.” Collin nodded, still gazing at the three. He couldn't imagine having so many horses that he couldn't ride certain ones for months at a time. It sounded crazy to him, but atleast he could safely assume that he was never going to have that problem. Just then, Scuro let out a whinny- greeting Sonny as if she hadn't seen him in a million years. her ears tipped forwards as far as they could go and she nodded excitedly. Collin laughed and murmered a few words in french to her, patting her neck lightly and turning her again. "I think she just remembered him from the trail rides. Either that or she's sweet on him." Scuro snorted as if he were crazy, and he just shook his head.
He led the mare around for a few minutes longer- then lunged her for a short time. Once that was done he wrapped both Scuro's and Arrow's legs, then led them into the trailer so that Miranda could put her horses in. Arrow didn't protest much this time and although Scuro let out an almost human sigh, she also walked calmly into the trailer. Farrow had just finished his breakfast and was sitting tied up to the trailer still- thumping his tail. “God, I look like a mess.” Miranda said once her horses were also loaded and they were in the truck. Collin looked over to her, studying her for a second, then shook his head. "You still look pretty to me." he said, smiling at her before leaning over to kiss her cheek. Miranda grabbed a hair brush and brushed through her hair quickly before starting the truck and pulling out of the lot. "...Although your hair did look like you spent the night in the trailer..." He teased, moving away a bit just incase she decided to slap him.
They only stopped once for gas after that, driving for a good six hours or so. Slowly though, the dead looking trees and grass gave away to greener things- and looking out the window became intresting again. Collin smiled to himself as he watched the scenery go by, only looking back every now and then to check on Farrow who had gotten into the truck rather willingly earlier on. The dog was fine though, laying on his side on the blanket. And then, finaly, the cement turned to gravel and they made their way towards the large ranch ahead. Once they got up there Miranda parked by a barn and went to unload the three horses, Sonny and Streak. She put the three into a pen, then turned to Collin as he got out. ‘Follow me, I will show you where we can put these guys.” He nodded and went quickly into the trailer. "We're here now, guys." He called so that the horses knew he was in the trailer. Arrow looked up at him and snorted softly- ready to get out. Collin untied him first and led him out, amazed that the gelding was so calm. The horse paused at the end of the ramp- sniffed the air, the continued down. "Good boy." Collin said, tying the gelding up so he could get Scuro.
The mare looked like she was about to explode with eagerness. When she saw him coming for him she whickered and danced around, her eyes bright. He smiled and untied her rope- then turning her towards the trailer ramp he led her forwards. She practicaly cantered in place once they got down the ramp, tossing her head up and letting out a shrill whinny to let everyone know she was here. Collin shook his head at her and halted her. "Ho, beauty. Calm down you drama queen." The mare snorted loudly but then walked semi-quietly beside him as he collected Arrow and followed Miranda into the barns. Once they got in, Miranda pointed at two empty stalls for his horses then led hers into two others. Collin put Arrow into his stall first, slipping his halter off and offering him a treat. The gelding ate it and went to explore his stall- nosing around. Next was scuro. The mare settled in practicaly in seconds, going straight over to the water and taking big gulps from the automatic waterer. As if she knew exactly where everything was. Collin smiled and closed her stall. The mare had moved around so much in her life that she was perfectly at home anywhere there were other horses, hay, and him.
When he came out of the stall, He saw Miranda racing over to a couple who had just come into the barn. She hugged one of them and when Collin saw her face, she was beaming. He decided that they were most likely her parents. He watched from a distance for a moment as they all greeted eachother, then when he heard his name he ventured forwards a bit. “Mom.. Dad.. This is Collin. My boyfriend.” the woman, Miranda's mother- came up to him straight-away and hugged him as if she'd always known him. You can call me Michelle” She told him. Collin smiled at her, glad that so far her parents didn't show any hostility towards him. "Yes ma'am." He answered, clearing his throat and looking down a bit, not exactly sure whether or not to try and hide his accent like he normaly did around strangers or take a chance and hope that they, like Miranda, didn't realy mind it. When he was speaking rushedly or without covering his accent he knew that often it was hard to understand him- so he went with trying to sound...well...normal.
Next Miranda's father came up to him, offering his hand. Collin shook it quickly. “Nice to meet you. I’m Dave. I will have to talk to you a little later about those horses.” He said and smiled a little. Collin nodded to show that he was listening. "Good to meet you too, sir." he answered before Miranda's dad spoke again. “Right now, I have to go check some cows, so get comfortable and I will be back for dinner.” With that he strode over to a saddled horse, mounted, and rode out of the barn. “I’m going to go in and make dinner. Miranda you know where you guys will be sleeping so go take a quick nap or something. Go rest.” Mrs. Duggar said, kissing Miranda's forehead and leaving also. “Let’s go grab our bags and go in the house.” Miranda said, walking out of the barn back towards the trailer and truck. Collin followed her, watching as Miranda let Farrow out of the truck. The dog bolted out and ran to Collin, his tail wagging excitedly but trying to control himself. Soon another dog came over and sniffed Farrow. “Beaver, go show Farrow around. Go play.” Miranda told the dog. Beaver barked and started running off. “Go Farrow.” Farrow looked up at Collin, whining softly- his way of begging to go. Colling motioned for him to go and with a yip the dog bounded away with his newfound friend. Collin laughed. "You'd never think he was almost 15 years old."
They grabbed their bags and went into the house, where Miranda led him to her room. “This was my room.. This is where we will be sleeping.” Collin glanced around and nodded. "..Your parents don't mind?" he asked, referring to the fact that they'd both be sleeping in the same room. He had figured that they wouldn't like that, and it suprised him that it seemed like thats what they'd planned in the first place. Miranda closed the door once he got in and put her arms around his neck, kissing him. "I love you." she said. Collin smiled against her lips, kissing her back. "I love you too" he murmered.
A moment later Miranda's phone buzzed and Collin made a pouty face before letting her so so that she could check her phone. She did and after typing out an answer she told him who it was “Soncee said that Cloud was really well mannered and she had no problems with him or the other horses.” That fact was good, that Soncee wasn't having any trouble with rambunctious Cloud. "Good." Collin said, "I'm glad she was able to watch him." he added. If she hadn't, he wouldn't of been able to go with Miranda, and he wouldn't of been here now. Miranda kissed him again, this time more passionately. Collin kissed her back just as passionately- hugging her to himself after a minute and rest his chin on her hed. "You should probably rest a bit now. You just drove a couple thousand miles in two days." He said, kissing the top of her head before letting her go.
