(Ummmmm.....sure I'm not sure how we'll work it out to where they get to that point, but I'm sure we'll figure it out.) Anthony noticed Alex coming towards them, and stopped King, who was listening intently to the sound of her approach. At her apology, Anthony smiled, she didn't need to apologize, it wasn't like she could have done anything to stop him. He was a big horse, and could probably just about get his way no matter who was handling him. Besides, it wasn't the first time he'd been bitten by a horse. After all, he was a jockey and worked with some of the most high strung horses in the world. And it wasn't the first time King had had a little panic attack. He was a blind racehorse, he was almost always freaking out about something. "Don't worry about it." He said in reply, "No damage done." Okay, so he had been bitten, but heck, he'd been bitten enough times that it was just sort of like an annoying fly when it happened now. He wasn't at all concerned about it. He understood crazy horses just fine, and he wasn't about to get upset over something that was completely out of the control of any human being. "You still coming down to the track?" He asked, wondering if she was going to come and watch King work as she had expressed desire to do earlier. He just hoped that King would shape up once they got out there, otherwise he might end up looking like an idiot. Even though he was blind, King still had a powerful presence on the track...even if no one else was usually around and there were no other horses to race. Perhaps it was the fact that he was blind and could still run quite well that so enthralled people. Who knew? Whatever it was, it just might win him a place in a real race someday in the future.

ooc; haha yeah i guess we'll just cross that bridge when we come to it lol
Alex smirked at Anthony's understanding but she still felt horrible for what loco did to him. "You sure your ok?" She to see if there was anything she could do because it was her fault that Loco bit him and she was going to be held responsible. She looked at his arm and saw the blood stains. She grimmaced in reaction to seeing it.
He mind flashed to the sight of her madened horse lashing out in rage at poor anothony. She felt horrible but knew that that was in the past and she couldn't change what happened no matter how much she wanted to. So she would just have to let it go. She appreciated him being so understand and she knew he knew what it was like having a nuttso horse.
A wide smile spread over her face when he asked if she was still coming. A sigh of relief came out of her as she nodded. "If you'll still let me" She coudn't wait to see the wonderful animal at work. She missed racing so much and it thrilled her just being around king. She looked over her should as Loco stared out after her. But quickly dismissed him and turned back to Anthony. It was nice having a race-rat around here with her.

Was he sure he was okay? Basically. Although, if he hadn't been he probably still would have said he was fine...he had after all, been riding racehorse while injured and refused any doctors' aid. Call him crazy, though it was probably more along the lines of pride. Every guy had it, and there wasn't a single one out there who particularly enjoyed letting the world know how much pain they were in. He was no exception. This time though, he really wasn't in much pain. Sure, there had been a lot of blood, but what would you expect from someone who just got a horse's teeth embedded in their arm?
I'm completely certain of it. He said with a smile. It was rather amusing really. The guy refuses to admit pain, and the girl doesn't stop worrying about him being in pain. I suppose it fits together almost like a puzzle. One does the getting in pain and not worrying, the other does the not getting in pain and worrying. If that made any sense at all.
If he would still let her? Of course he would let her. And even if he didn't, he didn't own the place, and he didn't own her either. Which, of course, meant that he couldn't tell her what she could and couldn't do with any authority at all. Of course I'll 'let' you. He said with a smile and a slight laugh, I'm not a Nazi dictator you know. Anthony tightened his grip on the reins as he felt the muscles in King's neck bunch and grow tense. He was going to have another moment in a few minutes here. It was quite predictable really...for Anthony anyway. For most people, they couldn't tell a difference, but he knew the horse well enough to know just exactly when he would blow up.

Alex smiled slightly but she knew even if he was hurt he still wouldn't tell her that he was because he was just like every guy she knew. Way to proud to admit being injured. but she would rather it be that way then them whining all the time. "Ok if you say so" She let a sly smile come over her. She was actually tempted to tap his shoulder just to be a brat but she didn't she wasn't sure she was that comfortable around him. Though she was getting there.
She glanced passed Anthony to King he was such a gorgeous horse she couldn't help but smile when she looked at him. But she knew how hard it was to handle him. She looked back at Anthony when he said of course she could still come. She let her sweet melodious laugh hit the air when he joked that he wasn't a Nazi. She flashed a full grin along with her small laugh. "Really you could have fooled me" She joked back. She watched him look over at King and noticed the horse had tenced a little but remained calm. She knew Anthony could handle him. And didn't feel that she was in any danger. Even though she very well might be.

Anthony smiled as she consented to what he said. I just did, didn't I? He said. Yes, he intentionally took everything literally...and he knew it. It drove some people crazy, but he could get away with it because of his Spanish accent. It was great. People always just thought he was getting things confused in the Spanish-English translation in his head but really, he knew exactly what they meant and really just did it to see the reaction. Some people who hated immigrants would get frustrated and try to explain it and just make things worse for themselves, while others would just laugh and just roll with it. Most people, however, failed to catch that he was completely not serious and that he had just been talking to them for the past ten minutes without once getting things messed up. It really was quite amusing.
I get that a lot actually. He said, still not serious at all. I'm guessing its probably the striking resemblance to Hitler, but its entirely possible that it could be the anti-semantic propaganda I put up everywhere I go. People also generally got confused when he said things like that. They all took him way to literally. And the best part was, he didn't really care. He was actually quite entertained by the sudden hatred and disgust people felt when he said things like that...until they noticed that he was on the verge of laughing hysterically at their gullibility. Oh the joys of being a native Spanish speaker with English as a second language.
As the blind racehorse caught on to the light and airy mood about them, the powerful muscles in his neck and legs slowly relaxed and became smooth again. That was one good thing about King. He'd learned to read Anthony's emotions to know what was going on around him instead of seeing what was around him. In a way, it made things easier. If Anthony was calm, then King was usually calm...and he wasn't really the sort of person to get upset over things very easily.

She smiled and shook her head slightly. Guys they were all so macho. It was funny really how no guy would admit to being hurt even when they really were. But she wasn't going to keep on with it so she dropped it and moved on. She wasn't one for seriousness unless it came to her work and then there was no fooling around but with horses and guys and friends she would rather just have fun and laugh. Which wasn't easy when your job called on you every night and day. As much as she tried to keep from anwering it during the day she had to because it wouldn't stop ringing and she would find herself with about 50 missed calls later that evening. But today she was happy to admit to having no one call her all day. It was suprising and almost scary.
She laughed a little and flashed him a full grin. "Yeah i'm pretty sure its the resemblence to Hitler are you sure your not related in some way?" She asked teasingly. She was finding herself more and more comfortable around him. He seemed to loosen her up. Expecially after the incedent with Loco. It was nice considering Anthony was pretty much the only person she knew around here due to being busy with Loco and work and the house and such.
She watched King relax from the corner of her eye and her eyes brightened she loved horses and people who were good with them. It amazed her that Anthony was taking the time to help King along. Most people she knew besides herself and maybe a select few would have already given up on him. She turned to face Anthony and a bright smile spread over her face. "Shall we head out?" She gestured toward the barn entrance. She wasn't trying to be pushy or anything she just knew it was getting late and that she might actually be holding them back.

So he'd finally found someone who actually got it had he? Well if that wasn't a welcome change, he didn't know what was. Sure, he liked to see people's reactions to the things he said, but it got a little old having everyone either hate you or think you're a pathetic loser who can't translate English properly. He didn't really mind if that much, but still, it was nice to have someone who actually got it...who actually understood.
He caught on to King's relaxation, and let his grip on the reins loosen, the leather strips becoming slack against the horse's neck. He lifted his hand to the thoroughbred's neck, letting it run over his smooth coat. King certainly was majestic animal, it was just unfortunate that the big horse had to go blind. He could have been the next big racing star, but it was ended so abruptly. It seemed like the world was determined to ruin every good racing horse to set foot on the track, and King had been one of the unfortunate ones to step in the way of the world.
He laughed slightly as she went along with the joke. He was glad that someone here was as into racing as he was. Up until now, he'd been the only one who seemed even vaguely interested in the sport. Most people here were into the high class jumping and other english events. Those sports were fine with him, he had nothing against them, he just wasn't really into the pristine beauty of the sport. He was more of a high speed, high intensity battle to become the best of the best. Racing was the only sport out there that could possibly satisfy that passion.
Of course. He said, stepping to the side to allow her to come along side him. Most people would have ridden up to the track since you had to go on a trail to get there, but Anthony knew better than that. Racehorses were so finely built that they were quite fragile. If King spooked out on that trail, he could easily break something, and he wasn't willing to risk that. How'd you get to be so into racing? he asked, finally deciding to ask the question that had been on his mind. It didn't seem like many girls were all that into racing these days, but Alex was quite different from most girls.

ooc; wrong account i know
She moved beside him as they begain the walk to the track. Which she totally understood why they were walking you'd have to be nuts to ride either of their horses to the track. At least in this stage of their training. They just weren't ready. She looked over to King he was gorgeous. It was a shame about him going blind. But things happened especially with how hard the horses were pushed in the racing business.
She was glad that they were heading to the track it had been a few months now since she had seen even a practice track. it made her heart pound at just the thought of racing. But she contained her excitment and remained calm cool and collected. It was just thrilling for her she loved the speed the adrenaline and everything about it. It captivated her.
A big smile spread over her face when he asked her how she got into racing. It was simple really but for it it was so much more. She took a deep breath. "Well... Its sorta a family business. My parents are breeders and racers. So its in my blood i guess." She laughed a little at the end then looked down at the dirt. Her family was.... Amazing but knew nothing about handling money hence why she was in charge of that.

Anthony kept his hand firmly on the reins, though his grip was relaxed. Everything he sensed and saw was translated through him to King, so he had to stay in contact with the horse at all times. If he didn't, King would get all freaked out since he had no idea what was around him, and panic. He'd learned that lesson the hard way. Thank goodness it had been later in the day, and no one had been around to see the horse in his impressive fit of panic. Not that it really mattered, everyone had already seen his crazy antics by now, and most of them knew to stay a good ways away from the animal when his only handler wasn't around.
Racing had certainly not been a part of Anthony's life right from the start. He'd had a horse, yes, but the thing was a beast of an animal that didn't really do much. It wasn't until he was 15 and his old horse died that he discovered the racing world. Being that he was unusually short for a guy, trainers had taken instant interest in him, even at a young age. He started out as an exercise rider, and when he turned 16 got his first mount. At 18, he moved up to the states, and started a professional career in racing, much to his family's dislike. He didn't really care though...what else was he supposed to do? With this height, he was perfect for the job.
Seems like that's pretty common these days. He replied. It wasn't a bad thing really, it was just that so few people were interested in horse racing anymore that unless they were born into it they didn't really take an interest in it. Or else they're just naturally shorter than the rest of the world and can't find anything else to do in their spare time. That last part was certainly referring to himself. Most of the jockeys he knew had come into the racing world the same way he had, and most of them had moved up from Mexico too.

Alex quickly thought about home with the thought of racing. She couldn't help but miss it but not nearly as much as she would miss this place if she left. Home didn't hold anymore opportunities. Though she would still be able to help with financial things. But right now she wanted to get herself started in racing. She wanted to train and ride and push herself into the sport without the pressure from her family. She loved the business but wanted to do it on her own. With out the boost from her parents.
She had found Loco on her own and would train him on her own too. It was taking a little more effort then expeected but she didn't have any doubts that it was possible. She loved the horse but sometimes he could be such a pain and difficult to handle. it made her laugh but sometimes she wondered if she could handle him. It wasn't the mind part she was afraid of though he was extremely smart. She was more worried that one day he would over power her too much. She shook those thoughts away and returned them to Anthony and King.
She agreed with him with a nod. it was pretty commen that way. but she had loved the sport and she was pretty sure she would even if she wasn't born into it. She let a small almost inaudible laugh escape her mouth when he spoke the last part. She wasn't making fun or anything she just found it funny. "Are you refering to yourself?" She smiled as she teased him a bit. But in a friendly way. She didn't at all mean to affend him. It was funny actually she already felt like she had known him for a long time and that they were good friends. So she was really comfortable around him now. She held a smile as they walked up the trail to the track.

Anthony looked towards Alex as she asked her question, a quizzical look on his face. You seen anyone else around here's as short as I am? He asked as his response, the questioning look replaced with a smile. Some people got offended when their height was commented on, but he couldn't care less. He actually enjoyed being shorter than the rest of the male world, it only meant that he could race thoroughbreds, which was his greatest passion. If he'd been any taller than he was, he'd never get to set foot in the stirrup on a racing saddle, which would be torture for him.
His whole life he'd been the short one, and it hadn't ever bothered him. He had two older siblings, one brother and one sister. His brother was 6'1" and had always been big into basketball. His sister was 5'10" and was huge into volleyball. That left him, at 5'4" and into horse racing. His whole family was big into athletics, and they were almost all tall, except for him. He'd taken so much grief for bing almost a foot shorter than his brother that he was basically immune to it all. He could actually see that it could be rather entertaining...especially when people were first informed that the two of them were brothers. That reaction was even better than the ones when they thought Anthony was getting confused with his English.

Not knowing how to react she kept staring at the ground but then from the corner of her eye she saw him smile. She looked up and smiled letting a small laugh escape. She shook her head and scowled at him. But in a friendly kinda joking way. "Oh sure way to make me feel all bad." She spoke and her joking scowl quickly turned to a grin. She almost shoved his shoulder like she would her brother or something but right before she was going to she remembered his injuries and King's tendancy to spook. So she decided not to risk harm on either of them.
She turned to face the trail. She didn't even know exactly how to get there she had seen a map but never really been there herself. So she would just have to follow his lead. It was weird because all her life she was involved in business and such stuff and now being here she found she had to complete different sides. One who could be dead serious and sue someone without a second thought just for sending her the wrong paper. ANd then this sweet gentle horse owner who was always smiling and laughing. But who could also be stern with horses. She loved this side of her. It was so nice to just let everything go.
All her life she had been to busy and serious to actually be serious about any boys even though she did date several. But in the end she either got bored or they left her because hs ewas far to by the book so to speak. But here she felt so loose. Though she knew she would pay for this leasure time. But she was finding herself at ease with Anthony like they had known each other for a long time and had been good friends. She really didn't have any friends any more just business executives and partners and such.
She wasn't sure why but she super excited. She guessed it was because she was about to see one of the worlds 8 wonders (or at least in her book) race across the earths cover. It never ceased to amaze her. She just hoped her and Loco would be out there one day. If there was anything she loved that was being on top of a possibly dangerous animal racing at deadly speeds. It was thrilling to see but exhilirating to actually do.

Anthony smiled and laughed at her response. Girls can get away with being short. He said light heartedly Short guys usually get the crap beat outta them. Of course, that was coming from experience. His brother had always taken advantage of his...vertical challenge...although, Anthony was probably stronger than him now...though still almost a foot shorter. He'd come to accept it when he'd stopped growing pretty much in 8th grade and his brother just kept getting taller and taller...the worst part though was when his sister passed him up for height. Hadn't that just about been the most embarrassing thing in the world?
It wasn't long before Anthony, King, and Alex stepped out into the open and the old track lay spread out before them. It was really a breath taking sight. The track held such an eerie and forgotten air but it was also mysterious and held the memory of many great racehorse pounding over its surface. The moment King's hooves touched the soft dirt of the track, a burst of adrenaline shot through him, and he started dancing around on his toes excitedly. Knowing that he probably wouldn't be able to get up on King if he got too much more excited, he hoisted himself up onto the tall horse's back, which to someone who wasn't used to being so short and riding such a big horse, would appear to be quite a feat. Though for him it was perfectly normal.
Wish me luck. He said, fastening the riding helmet beneath his chin. That thing had saved him many a time, and he never rode on the track without it. He turned King in towards the inside rail, holding him to a walk for a furlong, then a trot for the same distance. He then gave him enough rein for an easy canter for about half the track. When he reached the post that was to start the real workout, his focus fell completely on the horse, and he almost forgot that Alex was there watching. His hands moved up on King's neck, giving him the full rein. With impressive gusto, King dug into the earth and took off with a burst of acceleration. Within about five strides he had reached a full gallop. The entire time, his ears were pinned back, and head stretched out, listening for any verbal command that might come from Anthony. They reached the turn, and Anthony gave him a tap on the shoulder to switch leads. As he did so, his speed increased and he charged down what would have been the back stretch.
Just after passing by Alex, a huge raven came flying through the trees screeching angrily at the two humans and the horse. Most horses wouldn't have minded the raven, but because King couldn't see, his hearing was greatly intensified, and it sounded to him like the raven was right on top of him and he hadn't expected that. A surprised whinny escaped him, and he leapt to the side, his muscular shoulder hitting the rail, and crashing through it, the wood shattering against him. In Anthony's mind, this was all too familiar. Just after the finish, crashing through the rail...it was like reliving a nightmare.
The huge horse plummeted towards the ground, dragging his rider with him. King's left side hit the ground, and he rolled over, Anthony hitting the ground and feeling the terrible weight of King's body on top of his. Then it all went black. Yes, the nightmare was being relived again.
He and Doubt had just crossed the finish line the victors. The black colt next to them swerved towards them and collided with the little gray's hip sending him out of control through the rail. The horse came down on top of him, and pain ripped through him, but he didn't pass out. No, he was fully conscious. He could see the blood already beginning to seep through the white pants of his racing silks on his lower left leg. He could hardly breathe, and he had thought he heard a few ribs snap under the horse's weight. He couldn't move his right arm, and it looked like it was broken just above the wrist. EMT's surrounded him and instantly started doing whatever they did. He felt like he was going to be completely encompassed in the terrible darkness that was surrounding him, but forced it down at the voice of the girl he had loved. She brought him back...she had saved him. He'd walked away from there, refusing the doctor's help.
That girl was all he had needed. She was gone now though, killed in a car accident. Who would be there to save him this time? The darkness had already closed around him this time though, he didn't actually feel the pain, he couldn't see the blood, he hadn't heard the crack. It was all just dark and silent, he was without feeling in his body. Who would save him now?

Alex turned to him and smiled. "Well i'm not tall so you don't have to worry about that." Alex was very small standing at a permenent 5'2 She didn't like being this short but hey it worked to her advantage in the business she chose. It was perfect. She had gotten he jockey liscence a while back but only raced once. it was amazing and she wished she could do it again. but unfortunately she didn't ever race again after going to collage. But she knew once she got Loco back on track they would work perfect together.
Her jaw dropped as they turned the bend to see the magnificant clearing where the track lay. It was gorgeous. So serene and untouched. That is it seemed untouched she knew it wasn't true by the fresh hoof prints in the dirt. Not recent but in the last couple of days. She took it all in before continuing down to the track rail. She walked onto the track and took a deep breathe it was good to be back on one of these.
She turned to Anthony and smiled as he jumped on and fastened his helmet. "Good luck" She said. She walked back to the rail and closed the gate. She walked further down but kept her eye on King and Anthony the whole time. Chills ran up her spine as she saw the big strong horse book it down the track. She stoped and leaned up against the rail. Breathing faster and faster. A huge full grin over her mouth and her eyes wide in excitment. She couldn't believe his speed. He was almost to her and seemed as if he was just getting faster.
But then as he past her a raven flew out above them from the trees. And it all went down from there she saw King jump to the side. Her heart stopped. And as if in slow motion the horse and Anthony went rolling across the inside. Her eyes widened in fear. And she jumped over the rail racing across the track. She slide on the ground like a baseball player reaching home. And stopped next to Anthony's side. Her heart now racing in panic. She looked around with wild eyes.
Before she knew what she was doing she was one her feet dialing 911. She knew Anthony hated the Doctors but he couldn't ignore it this time. She walked slowly around to kings head. He seemed alright except the splinters in his shoulder. The lady picked up and Alex calming told her what had happened. After that she calmly reached down and helped King up as he was struggling to get up. She tried to keep him calm so he didn't worsen his condition. She held a nice and easy grip trying to remember what anthny would do. She let go of the horse figuring he wouldn't go anywhere.
She nelt down beside Anthony and un buckled his helmet she knew it was better to keep it on him just incase he had any head truama. She slid her hand around his neck onto his cheek. Anthony wake up. Please you have wake up. Me and King need you. Please Please wake up! Her voice was strained and she was in full panick. Which never happened to Alex. She was always calm cool and collected. But this was different. She looked over his body and the worse part seemed to be his leg which was the first thing crushed by Kings weight. Of course she couldn't tell about his ribs and she wasn't going to touch him and cause him more pain then he probably already was. She looked down at him worried and thats when the paramedic and the vet showed up. After that she had spaced pretty much everything.
She remembered getting into the ambulance with Anthony and them driving down the road to the hospital. All the while she held his hand. She did it almost ubconsciously but also just for her own sake. She was scared to let his hand go afraid that if she did he would fade away. They got to the hospital and she spaced again as everyone raced around. She felt so helpless. They took him into surgery and told her she couldn't be in there. So she had someone who she couldn't remember who. Drive her down to the vet clinic to see King. They had gotten all of the splinters out and he was doing much better. Of course they had to drug him so he would stay calm because he was blind. She went to his stall and whispered to him talking to him trying to reasure him that it was all ok.
She stayed there for about an hour and then got a call from the doctors saying he was out of surgery. She somehow got back to the hospital and raced through the halls to his room. Stopping in the doorway as she saw him. She sighed heavily relieved that the doctors where able to piece him back together so to speak. She slowely walked over to his bed side and smiled. But couldn't get any words to come out of her mouth.
ooc; sorry if i power played too much i kinda exploded on this post. Let me know if you want me to make anything different

Feeling was slowly, ever so slowly coming back to him, but as it did, it began registering with his brain that something was terribly wrong. His lungs refused to expand, his chest refused to rise and fall in the methodical rhythm that it usually did. He couldn't move. He tried to tell himself to open his eyes, but his body refused to obey. He tried to tell himself to get up, to walk away, but again, he couldn't move. After this realization of immobility, came the pain. Pain seered through him in never ending waves, and there was nothing he could do about it. This helplessness, this powerless feeling was worse than almost anything he'd ever experienced in his life.
At first King attempted to stand, but was unable to. Panic was taking him over. He couldn't see, he didn't know what he had hit, he didn't know where Anthony had gone, and he was in pain. Despite his blindness, his eyes were wide with fear. That was when he felt a hand on the reins. It wasn't Anthony, he could tell, but it was someone...all he needed was someone who could be his eyes for him. He slowly calmed, though it was obvious he was still quite afraid. What had happened to Anthony? Where was his human? With her encouragement, he got back up onto his feet, favoring his right front let a little. He stood with his legs spread apart slightly in fear. No, he wouldn't be going anywhere.
Anthony felt someone unfasten the helmet strap and then felt a slender yet strong arm slide under his neck. Who was it? He couldn't remember what was happening. All he knew was that he was in pain on the ground. Was he back at the Santa Anita with the first race? Had he just won it? He couldn't think, where was he? He heard a voice, but couldn't distinguish words. Tristanne? Something didn't seem right. Something about this whole thing was just wrong. He shouldn't be here. He wanted so badly to ask what was happening, but no words would form on his lips.
Next thing he knew, EMT's were surrounding him, calling for an oxygen mask. We're losing him! someone shouted. Who were they losing? He was so confused. He felt the oxygen mask cover his mouth and then nothing. It was all gone again. He didn't hear, he didn't feel. He was completely unaware that he had been moved, he didn't know Alex was there beside him holding his hand. He didn't know he was going into surgery. Of course, had he known any of this, he would have strongly protested. He hated doctors, he didn't want them touching him, he didn't want them stabbing things into his body, and he certainly didn't want them injecting him with their drugs.
In all of his years up in the States, he had never been to a doctor, ever. They didn't have his medical records, the knew nothing about him. They were completely unaware of the genetic drug dependency that had been passed on to him from his parents, they didn't know what damage they were doing as they injected him with with morphine, they had no idea that they could possibly be killing him, and no signs of it would show until later when he was off the morphine. They didn't know. They couldn't know. He had told no one up here about this problem, and it was very possibly going to be his demise.
King had very adamantly protested the doctors coming anywhere near him. He had been poked and prodded and whatever else they could do when he went blind, and he hated them passionately, much like Anthony did. When they finally got him sedated, he went down a little too quickly, and they'd had to call everyone in to support him and keep him from tipping over. When Alex came to see him, he stood miserably in the stall, his normally proud head drooped low. The fight was currently gone out of him. He needed his human. Alex's presence was a little comfort to him. He had heard her voice before, been touched by her, and she had been there with Charlie. She had to be okay. He lifted his head slowly as she approached him, a hoarse whicker rumbling from his throat.
Anthony's mind slowly came back into functioning again. He started to think, to come out of the black nightmare. His chest began to rise and fall on its own accord. The pain came back to him. With the pain though, his mind was jolted suddenly back into reality. His eyes opened to the glaring lights of the hospital. Surprisingly, the first thought that came to his mind was You have got to be kidding me. Strange first thought wouldn't you think? Not for him. Being in the hospital meant he had already been doped up on morphine, and the dependency was begun. As things came into focus, he could see someone by the bed smiling down at him. Who was she? He racked his brain for her name, but it wasn't coming to him. He knew he knew her. He had to, otherwise she wouldn't be here. Oh God, he hated all this. He knew it had something to do with a horse coming down on him, but what had happened? He remembered the Santa Anita, but he'd walked away from there, he knew he had. So what had happened this time?
A faint smile, all he could manage, appeared on his face. Though you would never know it, he was more laughing at himself inwardly. I probably sound like a complete idiot, He said horasely, but would you mind explaining how I ended up here? He was hoping that maybe if he could remember what happened he would remember who she was. She had to be someone important to him, she was there beside him, only someone who he cared for and who cared for him in return would be there.
