It was the year of 1907. Things were perfect for the two stallions, Calico, a tobiano chestnut paint, and Admiral, a black fresian. Both had promised each other to be life-long friends, but little did either of them know, the fate that lie ahead. All the did know was that they wanted to be with other equines, in a herd, where they could possibly find love. And they did.
It was two years later, however, in 1909 that they stumbled upon a herd in mid-winter, cold and hungry, they were offered a place in a herd by a kind stallion named, Dellion. A dark bay mustang. He had about 30 or so herd members, not including his lead mare, Elmira, a perlino thoroughbred mix. And amoungst the numbers of horses, only two caught the attention of the new comwer stallions. A black and white pinto mare named Checkers, and a dapple gray mare named Stormy. Stormy fell for Admiral, and Checkers for Calico.
Both stallions bragged about their loves, both secretely thinking that their lover was better than the others'. Soon, they were getting more mares, and overtime, it became a think of lust for power and numbers. Slowly, their insides were being eat out by power to overrule the other. In that unfortunate summer of 1912, their friendship ended forever.
The fought, for dominace over each other. But, the leads did not understand their reasons. Why were they betraying each other like this? But, both females remained loyal to their leader, though they were saddened by the outcome everything had taken. And in the midst of their fighting, the mares had a plan themselves, to leave the stallions until this was over, but they could never do that, and not because they loved them so, but because something more unfortunate was to happen.
Winning the battle was Calico. He then decided it was time to kill Dellion and Elmira for ultimate power. And he did. When he took over, Admiral sought out his vengence. Many times did he try to take Calico's mares, but was forcibly driven away. And when the night of the mare's departure came, it came for one, but not the other.
As Calico slept, and his mare started to leave, Admiral planned his strategy. At first, he acted if he wanted to apologize to Calico, but as he walked with Checkers, he inched closer and closer to his plan for her. As soon as they exited the lands, he killed her brutally. When Calico found her body the next day, his anger turned to rage, and rage into a hateful passion of bloodlust. He wanted this stallion so pay with his very life! But no, Calico had other plans.
Only, he was braver. Before Admiral's small herd, in broad daylight, he stood with Stormy. He spoke about betrayal, and his new motto. A love for a love. Smoky realized what he ment instantly, and with one blow, the fragile mare was dead. Admiral came back to Calico standing over his lover. At first, Admiral could not move as he looked upon the limp body of his lover.
Calico approached, and after a few minutes, they were in an engaging combat. It was then that fate's tables turned on both stallions. In the fight, Calico had the upper hand... at first. Then, Admiral got the upper hand of the fight. Calico began to fall from a high cliff, only there was no ocean below. Only jagged rocks. He begged and pleaded with Admiral to save his life and he dangled over the cliff. He even apologize, but it was no use. Admiral kicked the stallion and then turned to watch him fall. A gruesome death it was. But it was one that Admiral had long anticipated.
Now, they say the lands are cursed by the ghost of Calico, who still seeks revenge on Admiral even 99 years later. No one trust anyone. They are afraid to feel pain, meet death, or even be betrayed by those they call lovers and friends. Now, their lives are a game of....
