Bri walked into the tack store, shivering from the cold wind that had hit her during the few steps from her truck to the door. Bri adjusted her jacket and undid in slightly to let the warm air enter as she felt small goose bumps rise on her body. Bri was not used to the weather, even if she came from Canada, cold was still not her thing at all. She’d figured she’d worn plenty, but her Birkenstocks were not keeping her toes warm even with the fuzzy socks. But the only real winter footwear she owned was a pair of mountain horse riding boots, so this has been it since she was actually leaving the barn. Her blonde curls fell out from under her winter hat and snow flakes still lay on her, melting slowly as the heat of the store attacked them one by one.
Bri headed towards the helmet section, she needed a new one for schooling. She’d been riding in her show helmet for a good week now because she’d been too lazy to buy another. But now that it was winter and she was spending less time in the cold air and more in the warmth of her house she’d had time to venture out to the town. She scanned the large selection, not really sure which one she wanted. She was showing in a GR8 Charles Owen, which she loved but she wasn’t really interested in getting that in a colour. She wore too many different colours to keep up with a helmet like that. She scanned the selection, sticking to the Charles Owens. They fit her head the best by far, and seemed to have saved her life a few too many times.
Bri picked up the AYR 8 and examined it, it was the newest Charles Owen on the market. Bri bit her lip, not sure if wanted it or if she should buy an actual schooling helmet from another brand, like Tipperary. Bri grabbed her size in the AYR 8 and carried it over to the other display as she looked into more schooling like helmets. She hummed and hawed but decided on the Charles Owen, she liked it the best. Though considering the price difference, she should like it better. Bri carried it as she went over to look at saddle pads, her addiction. She didn’t even know how many she had, but their was a lot. At one point in time she’d had a tack box for just saddle pads. But she outgrew that, so now they were just everywhere. She probably had over ten in the cab of her truck alone.
Bri wasn’t sure what she was looking for, but she felt she was looking for something. Christmas was coming up, but who did she have to buy for? Her sister? Yeah like she’d be able to find that gift in a tack shop. Her gift required shopping at that large thing called a mall, which Bri was okay with but she was well aware she’d put it off for awhile before going. Hell she put off going to the tack shop for a week and that had horse stuff in it. It sucked not having anybody to buy for, to have anybody to really spend the holiday with. Maybe she’d meet somebody, Maybe she’d find somebody to spend Christmas with. Bri just rolled her eyes at herself, yeah right. It’d been how long since her last serious relationship? Yeah she didn’t even know the answer, that was the sad part. Bri just shook her head at herself, she was starting to wonder if she’d be by herself forever. It was most likely, everybody either liked her because of her looks or wanted to use her. Nobody ever really cared for her. But whatever, she was quite fine being by herself with her horses. At least that’s what she told herself. [/blockquote]

Even though it was winter, Aiden was wearing nothing but a t-shirt that was unbuttoned and blacks pants with his boots that were caked with mud. He didn't care though because nothing was important except for his hair and getting some new tack for his horses. He also needed some racing tack for the racehorses his dad was currently training but he didn't feel the need to spend more money than he was probably going to spend on the new tack. He drove his black mustang converible down the road toward the tack shop and when he saw it, he put his blinker on and pulled into the parking lot. He got out of the car and locked it as he walked away, his open shirt blowing in the wind as he walked. He opened the tack shop door and stepped inside, looking around at all the tack that was hanging on the walls and racks. The man behind the counter nodded in Aiden's direction but he ignored him, noticing a pretty blonde girl looking at the saddle pads with a helmet in her hand. He walked over to the saddle area which was right next to the saddle pads and he began to look at the wide selection of saddles that the store carried.
He remembered that his racing saddle was too worn to ride in so he began to scan the shelves for the type of racing saddle he liked so much. He noticed an all black racing saddle with a red seat that will match the saddle pads he was about to buy perfectly. He picked it up off the rack and carried it with him as she walked over to the saddle pad section, walking up behind the blonde girl so that he stood next to her as he placed the saddle gently on the floor and began to look for a black and red racing saddle pad for his colt to wear. He found a black pad with red stitching and the whole bottom of the pad was covered with soft sheepskin so that it wouldn't irritate Aiden's colt too much.
Aiden picked up the pad and then he picked up the saddle and he moved on to halters, remembering that both of his horses needed new halters. Estrella Muerte managed to chew on hers so much that the silk didn't hold and so she chewed right through it and it was the same way with his colt. He picked up a red halter made of silk with a red and black lead rope attached and he looked over his shoulder, looking at the blonde girl that seemed to interest him. She seemed to be very interested with the saddle pads so Aiden picked up a pink halter made of silk with a pink and black lead rope attached and he left the halter area, going to pay for all of his stuff. On his way past the blonde, his shoulder brushed against hers and he noticed that he forgot to pick out an all around saddle for riding his two horses without racing them.
He went back to the saddle area and he looked at all of the saddles before chosing to go with a black square back english saddle that seemed big enough for both horse's large withers. He carried all of his stuff over to the saddle pads and he picked out a black saddle pad with pink stitching and he added it to his collection of stuff before walking by the blonde again, his shoulder brushing hers again ever so lightly. He kept walking this time and he waited in line, looking out of the corner of his eyes as she waited for her to notice him.

Bri felt a something brush her shoulder, awakening her from her deep thoughts. She smiled but didn’t look up, unsure of when somebody else had entered the store. She watched him closely out of the corner of her eye, more or less wondering how the heck he wasn’t freezing to death. Bri made a mental note of his hair before wondering away from the saddle pads, still unsure oh what one she was planning on buying. Bri headed to the boot socks, another love of her life. Literally, she was addicted to them. She scanned the racks, plenty and plenty of racks that almost made her heart melt. She grabbed three pairs before prying herself away from the beautiful things. One pair was just a plain black and red plaid, the other was white with multi coloured polka dots and the third was black with pink blobs that looked like plaint splatter on it. She rolled her eyes at herself, trying to figure out how she could be so addicted to something so stupid. Yet at least they were useful. Hell, she even wore them with her cowboy boots.
Bri was trying to do a mental check list of what else she needed, okay what else she wanted to buy. She didn’t really need anything. She found herself at the show shirts now, her feet had apparently just led her there. But nothing really caught her eye, well that wasn’t in a colour she already owned. Bri continued to wonder, not really sure of where she was going. It seemed to be a lot like her life, no real exact destination, a brief idea but never any true guidance. Lost, wanting something, but not knowing exactly what she wanted. Bri had no clue what to do with her life anymore, yes she wanted to go to law school but she was sick of school. She’d done four years of college already, why couldn’t she just become a lawyer? Easy, some dumb ass government person wanted money. But it wasn’t like she needed the money, she made over a hundred grand every time she brought in a hunter horse to train. She rarely worked outside the barn for money and had a large sum in her bank account, but it wasn’t money that bothered her. It was that she wanted that full time job now, unlike she’d ever wanted it before. She seemed to be maturing, and it was really starting to scare the living daylights out of her.
Bri found herself in the bridle section, not really remembering how the hell she got from one side of the store to the other. Bri just looked them over, her eye getting caught on a Santa Cruz one that was a medium oil and felt extremely soft. She could use a new schooling bridle for Zoey since she was riding her English more often now. Bri grabbed it, deciding to do the whole impulse buy thing. She grabbed a plain Dee ring and a new set of draw reins to go with it. She rarely used draw reins, but she would run into a horse that needed them soon enough and her old ones were practically falling apart. Then again, most of her training stuff was almost falling apart within months of use, she was slightly hard on the stuff.
Bri eyed the blanket section but didn’t allow herself to wonder over there, knowing she’d buy all new winter blankets for her horses that didn’t need them. They had enough blankets already. Bri bit her lip to avoid the section and headed back to the saddle pad section, deciding to limit herself to two saddle pads and a new half pad to show Zoey in, since she looked much better in a half pad then a full pad. Kass however suited the full pad trend very nicely, which worked out great since she was actually jumping hunter courses. Zoey was still just flatting, oh how Bri wished the mare was old enough to jump. Bri was excited for that day, if she kept her that long.
Bri picked out a black and hot pink saddle pad for Zoey and a navy blue one with white trim for Kass, figuring the mare could use a more solid coloured one for days they were schooling in front of people she wanted some respect from. As for Zoey, well her markings drew a ton of eyes anyways so she figured she might as well at a little splash of hot pink into the mixture. Bri was about to brad a mattes half pad when she felt somebody brush against her shoulder, she turned slightly to see the same boy again. Bri just smiled, shook her head and grabbed the saddle pad before following him to the cash register. She eyed the amount of pink he had on the counter and raised an eyebrow sarcastically before jokingly saying “I’m assuming you own a mare, that or I may be lead to believe you’re gay”. Bri smiled to ensure him that she was joking and had no intentions of trying to insult him- considering the amount of pink she had. “I’m Bri, by the way” she said introducing herself casually as she shoved a few items on the counter and held the rest with ease. When the blonde girl smiled at him and then followed him into the line, Aiden smiled to himself before realizing that he completely forgot the bridles and the blankets. He held up his index finger and hurried over to the bridle secon. He grabbed the hackamore bridle without the bit that looked like it would fit Estrella and then he grabbed a racing bridle for Salv before grabbing another hackamore as well as a twsisted snaffle bridle for Salv. He also took two english martingales off their hooks and then strolled over to the blanket section. He picked out a bright blue over the head blanket as well as a pink sheet for Esterlla and then a maroon over the head blanket as well as a purple sheet for Salv and he was all set.
Aiden strolled casusally back into the line, placing his new items on the counter along with his other stuff when he heard the blonde speak to him. He smirked at her joke and he turned around, facing her. "Of course I have pink! I love pink!" He squealed putting on his best gay impression. He smirked at her before continuing to speak. "I actually have a mare. Her name is Estrella Muerte and she mainly does hunter and jumping with a little bit of dressage and cross country. Do you have a mare?" Aiden asked her, looking into her eyes. He felt a tapping on his shoulder and he turned around to face the guy at the register. He paided for his stuff and then when he grabbed his bags off the table, he turned around and stepped out of Bri's way so she could pay for her items. "Nice to meet you Bri. The name's Aiden but call me whatever you want" He said, flashing her a full smile as he watched her. He wondered how his colt Salvatore's Revenge was doing at the barn all alone but Aiden was going there after so the young colt will probably be so happy when he gets to see his master. Estrella was probably relaxing in her pasture while grazing. She always did know how to relax and stay calm all the time, even when Salv was annoying the hell out of her. Aiden was about to call the barn to make sure everything was alright when he stopped himself. Why should he call the barn? They're probably having the time of their lives right now, playing with all the other horses. Salv is probably having a ball with the other horses right now while Estrella kept an eye on him while she was grazing in her pasture.

Bri gave him a weird look, though she wasn’t fully aware of it when he started talking about how much he loved pink. He didn’t look gay, but she was having some doubts now. Unsure of what to think she kind of looked at the guy behind the counter, but he was absolutely no help. What had she gotten herself into? Nothing, there was no way knowing who some crazy gay guy was could hurt her. She didn’t even know his name. She hadn’t gotten herself into anything.. yet.
His next words were literally probably the best that could have followed his sentence. Thank the lord, their was a chance that she may survive in this world. A chance anyways. Bri ran the show name through her mind, trying to place it. But it didn’t seem to fit anywhere, it just sounded different. Bri wondered if it was an Arabian mare, which may be why it had a fairly unusual hunter name. But he’d listed a bunch of things for the mare, so it could really be anything. Maybe it meant something? Maybe. Bri was quite puzzled with this name, running it through and through her brain. It just didn’t match, or maybe it did and that’s what was throwing her off? Bri wasn’t really sure. But something wasn’t right about the name, or was too right. Maybe she’d worked with the mare before? Maybe she’d seen it go around? Bri wasn’t sure, and that really bothered her.
“Two. My one mare, Kass, is a hunter through and through. As for Zoey, she’s supposed to be my western pleasure mount… but it’s much more fun to ride her English. In the end Zoey will be a hunter, at least that’s what I’ll probably list her as at the end of the season.” said Bri, kind of saddened by the idea of selling the mare. But if she kept the same horses forever not only would she loose a ton of money but she’d never stay as good of a rider, she’d become amazing at riding one horse but horrible at riding others. Bri couldn’t have that, but maybe she should. Bri wasn’t sure what to think anymore, and Kass was going to be hard to find somebody that gets along with her. But at the level she shows at everybody knows how to ride, so that shouldn’t be a problem. But deep down Bri knew she kind of wished it would be. Maybe there just wouldn’t be a market here, maybe nobody would ever make her an offer so she’d never feel the need to sell? Or maybe she should buy another horse for a project to ensure to make money off of and keep these two. But three horses? Okay she’d done more, but she didn’t want to feel like she was abandoning the others. Bri really needed to sort some stuff out, but she couldn’t until she figured her own self out. Which was getting harder as the days went on.
Bri waited for the guy behind the counter to ring in her items, not even caring what the total was. She’d stopped looking at just started handing her bank card over lately, because really she didn’t want to know. She’d gotten into the habit when her mom had always screamed at her for spending so much on horse shit, when in reality it was helping her make a minimum of fifty grand per horse every six months- let alone when she trained other peoples horses for roughly a thousand dollars a month. Here she wasn’t really doing anything, just riding her two mares. Which was odd, but she kind of liked it that way. Back home she’d gotten up at 5am, was riding by 6 and didn’t stop riding until 9 or later at night. But she’d made herself a large amount of money, which was paying for the life she had now. Meaning she didn’t have to become a waitress to pay for her expensive hobby, which was nice. Though a job might distract her from the mess that was in her head.
“Anything I want?” asked Bri with a smirk on her face, oh how interesting this could get. Bri ran through a bunch of names, but nothing really came to her mind. Though she had no intentions of letting anybody in on that. Bri could feel the hint of playfulness rise in her eyes, them sparkle in delight. It was weird, she rarely got the feeling anymore. Then again there wasn’t exactly a night life here, but for some strange reason she was okay with that. Bri wasn’t sure what the hell was going on with her brain anymore, but whatever it was she had a feeling it had something to due with the fact aht maybe, just maybe she was growing up. [/blockquote]
