MADISON&&SAILOR
the routine she had fallen into was certainly working for her, the lack of work or school had made her days quite leisurly. she started with a morning jog, keeping in shape wasn't always easy when your stomach always seemed to have extra room. she then proceeded to head to the farm, falls chilly air was certainly draining her. after working two horses she was usually ready to crash, though forced herself to shower and un-pack a little bit more of her shit. the house she had slowly moved into was looking more and more complete, she even had pictures on her wall. all the pictures with the exception of one involved horses. looking around her house every monring she thought the same thing, it really wasn't right that she was living so comfortably. she really needed to stop dipping into her education fund and get a job to pay for all this shit. its really not that easy to get a decent job with the lack of a highschool education, and she didn't want to spread that small bit of info around the town before she knew anyone. as she headed out the door everymorning she would eye the calender and count the days, the amount of days she had been there and the fact that she had met just one person.
the truck crunched down the gravel driveway as she headed into the barns driveway, her thermos mug was in her hands as she sipped back her warm coffee the smile on her face was genuine. puttting the truck into park she headed through the barn, stopping in the tack room on the way she grabbed her saddle and bridal. stopping outside her stallions stall she dropped the tack and opened his door. pulling the stunning grey stud from his stall she noted his mood, he seemed rather docile though his mouth was busy as usual. he pulled at the hood of her deep purple sweater she swated at him, sticking him in the cross-ties so he was forced to be still she got to work on brushing and tacking the beast. polo wraps were done up on all four legs, she added a pair of bell boots to his front feet in fear of him ripping a shoe. she put the thick western pad on his back then waited for him to squirm away from her before adding her sheepskin half pad and old pessoa work saddle. she took a step back and tightened his cinch, the gelding was all pissy like usual madison just chuckled.
the arena was filled with bright jumps, some colored naturally like a hunter course while others represented the jumpers ring. the stallion was quite full of himself as he pranced about behind her, to the center they wanderd as madison pulled down her short stirrups humming to herself as she did. she tightened her girth and chucked the reins over his head, she dodged a few bites inbetween. she threw her small 5ft3 figuire up onto his looming 16.3hh frame, landing lightly she gathered her reins and stuffed her feet in the sturrips. she pulled the elastic off her wrist and pulled her hair onto the top of her head in a high pony tail, long brown curls fell down her back. picking up her reins she gathered the stallion in, adding a small amount of spurr to his side they were off at a smooth trot. his stride was ground covering as she cooed to him gently they passed a few jumps she knew he would be more than interested in looking at.
easy grumpy pants, lets just get to work for once.

ooc;; ick i apologize, its long but not my best work at all. I'm so tired.. and its only 5pm. yikes
Bri drove down the road, a mental check list running through her head as she drove her pickup towards the stables. She was wearing the majority of her riding gear, minus her helmet and gloves. She had her breeches on, though covered with a pair of sweat pants since when she’d tossed them on earlier her legs had been cold and a black jacket that had “RSVEC” on it, she loved the jacket and the barn so she figured people could suck it up if they didn’t like it. It’s not like the barn was anywhere near, it was in a completely different country. Her feet were in a pair of old UGG boots because she’d seemed to be in a constant chill today. She wasn’t sure why, it wasn’t that bad out. Then again she’d never been normal and she had a feeling she never would be.
Bri pulled into the driveway and debated on her mount, it was either Kass or Zoey. Zoey would allow her to just ride and think, but Kass meant she could actually jump. She couldn’t wait till Zoey was older so she could start jumping her. Though the fact that she jumped alone was frowned upon in the western pleasure world, let alone she had plans of showing her bred to the nines western pleasure mare in the hunter ring- if she kept her that long. With a sigh she grabbed Kass’ leather halter and slipped it onto her head, leading her into the cross-ties.
Bri took one last look at the mare, doing a double check on her tacking up job. Her grooming job had be pathetic, but thankfully the mare stayed clean for the most part. She really didn’t feel like spending any time at all on the looks of her horse, she just wanted to come out and ride today. Though there was a very little chance of that, Bri had a horrible habit of getting side tracked when she was untacking. She tended to let her mind wander just a little too much and then would have to figure out where she’d left off. Especially if she rode at night especially, because by then she was pretty much a walking zombie looking for a pillow to lay her head on. Bri finally slipped the reins over the mare’s head and led her towards the jumping ring, figuring she’d school some height today and do more equitation type courses. Which was her excuse for schooling her hunter over a jumper course pretty much, it was just more fun that way. But when it came to shows she found hunter so much better, mainly because it was more competitive on her old circuit. Plus hunters sold for more money, unless you started getting into high level jumpers. She had done that once but found it was more work and you had to pay more upfront.
Bri looked into the ring, another girl was riding what looked to be about a 16.2hh horse, though that was an estimate. She rode nicely, no obvious points wrong about her. Bri looked at Kass as the mare whinnied towards a stallion that was being led by some groom. Bri just shook her head and lead the mare towards the mounting block, preparing herself to spend the next while just concentrating on Kass and Kass alone- or getting bucked off a few times, whatever she ended up choosing. Bri took the reins in one hand and mounted in a quick and swift motion. She looked at the girl riding, smiled and said “Hey I’m Bri” [/blockquote]

MADISON&&SAILOR
letting the stallion stretch his neck out to start she continued to push him into his cadenced trot, as he stretched down his back muscles were released and a snort escaped his flared nares. she felt him reach his stride out into bigger swinging steps and posted softly to each one, her hands were holding the reins at the buckle as he continued to almost drag his nose on the ground. madison was attentive to things around the ring, she kept her eye out for other horses or riders, as sailor was more than known for his spooks she wasn't interested in eating dirt. madison sat deep for a moment and pushed the lightly dappled stud into a lope, he continued down the rail at a smooth but collected three beat. he was consistent with his head, still loving the fact that he was being allowed to stretch. madison had worked with the stallion for years now, and he was quite good at working off her seat so as she sat deep and drew in a breath he collected himself under her even more. the smile she wore was bright as they passed through the diagonal, a flying change was asked for at x and sailor swapped with ease and precision. he snorted once more and madison pushed him to a halt in the corner, backing him up a few good steps she collected her reins just in time to see the other girl and her mare wander in.
pushing him forward to a walk she fiddled with her inside rein to break the stallion off it and push him to her outside balance rein. when she felt him lock in she softened her hands and drove him forward to the bit. the self carriage he had was exceptional lately, he was being like butter in her hands. though as the stallion eyed the mare madison with good reason poked him with her spur, instead of focusing on the mare sailor flicked an aud back to madison who clucked him on into a trot. as he strode down the rail his ground covering stride was smooth and comfortable, he found a good working pace and they were off. she helped him through the corners though for the most part just sat there and looked pretty. her eq had been her main focus lately, and the work was paying off. her shoulders were pulled back, lower leg solid as usual. her hands were held high enough though slightly spread as she was just warming the horse up and would be working on opening him up laterally. for once in her life she was even looking up as the stallion was soft between her hand and leg. as she was moving the horse on and off the rail in a leg yield she heard the girls voice ring out, madison was smooth in her reply and didn't even miss a beat.
it's a pleasure to meet ya, i'm madison.
oh how she sounded like a hick, her cheeks flushed but she didn't say anything. just chuckling at herself, she wasn't exactly trying to fit in so why would she be ashamed? her horse was wearing a melange of tack, his bridal was a work bridal with clips, his saddle pad was a thin western one with a half pad on top. at least she was working him in a hunt saddle, some days she made him pack around the western saddle. her jeans were clean, and dark wash they did cover her cowgirl boots but her western spurs stuck out, all plated with silver she had won them on her western futurity horse. her belt buckle was another winning, the sweater she wore was just something from home though to top off the unusual look madison wasn't wearing a helmet. her long hair was up in a pony tail, and at least she had given up wearing her cowgirl hat. now as she was thinking about all this sailor had planned something for her, something to test the short but apparently talented rider. as they went passed an exceptionally bright looking jumper fence he balked, then when her spurs hit his side he let out a large buck before taking off. chuckling out loud madison sat the buck and was already ahead of the stallion, she pulled him up in the corner to make sure she hadn't taken anyone or anything out. she spoke again, this time she was speaking to sailor.
well yee haw you dork, i didn't know you still had that in ya.
knowing it had been her own fault madison didn't bother getting after the stud too much, squeezing with her legs she pushed him into his smooth working canter and once he was soft in her hand she released him into a lower hunter frame, she was eying a few of the fences and thinking a small course through but kept her mind mainly on the stallion and what was happening around her. she didn't want to cause another scene or take out the only other rider in the huge arena. speaking of her madison looked up from her horse and looked around the arena, searching for Bri and her horse.
ooc: so lame, but i wanted to finish it before i wrote my english essay

Bri pushed the mare into a walk, letting her go at a forward beat as she held the reins at the buckle. The big mare walked, almost flinging her feet out as she looked at the stallion across the arena. Bri just rolled her eyes at the mare and dug the small spurs into her sides, making the mare focus. Kass tossed her head and snorted in discuss, wanting no part of the fact she couldn’t be distracted. Bri laughed as the mare pouted, but Bri wasn’t allowed to check out boys well riding neither was she. Bri bit her lip in order to keep herself from laughing hysterically at the mare as she tossed her head and pinned her ears at the stupidest of things, like a leaf falling from a tree. Whoever said horses didn’t have personality, never watched this mare get told what to do.
Bri let her eyes drift over the pasture, eyeing up the large amount of horses that were worth thousands and thousands of dollars. Most of them were flashy, whether they be paints or white socks it was rare to see a plain bay amongst the large groups that grazed happily. They looked so content with just being with their friends. Bri though about her friends, she missed her old friends. And as for new ones? Well Maddie was the second person she’d met so far. Bri just hoped that everything fell together, the friendships and well the more then just friendships. Bri was 21 and used to dating, it was weird having extra time and not having anybody to spend it with. No boy chasing her, no guy calling her to wish her goodnight. Just being alone, all by herself. That was something she missed, she missed knowing she was loved.
Bri felt the mare give a slight buck and just raised an eyebrow at the mare, who snorted in complaint. “You have more attitude then me as a teenager” said Bri rolling her eyes as she pushed her thoughts to the side and asked the mare for a long flowing trot. Kass half assed the trot at first, but after a soft click of the spurs into her sides she returned to her normal trot- a long, flowing stride with a natural headset. Bri couldn’t get over how much the mare reacted to the rider, and how pissy she got when she lost any attention at all.
“What do you show him in?” asked Bri as she brought Kass into a canter, the mare happily springing forward into her natural striding. Kass seemed to dance for the stallion, making almost every move perfect. Kass was a show off, that was for sure. Bri collected her reins up softly and asked for a slightly nicer frame and a small inside bend. Kass flicked her ears in annoyance but listened, to Bri’s amazement. Usually the mare would put up a fight when riding with other horses, feeling the need to be the boss. Bri had worked a lot on that habit, and the mare had learned quickly what a pair of western spurs and stronger bit can do. That was within the first week of Kass coming there though, now she behaved in a much more orderly manner for the most part.
Bri headed the mare towards a small cross rail, holding the mare back and waiting for the fence to come to her. Kass chomped at the bit and pulled through Bri’s hands, but soon gave in when she realized Bri wasn’t going to give up. Bri closed her hip angle and moved her hands slightly as the mare over jumped the cross rail by a good foot and a half. Bri just shook her head and went over it again, this time the mare was much more calm and relaxed. Kass never had a nice warm up fence, she always look like some psycho horse that had never jumped in her life before. But after that she settled in nicely and looked like almost the perfect hunter. And Bri loved that.

MADISON&&SAILOR
she spotted the pair as the mare kicked out a little madison could only smile as she related the incident to hers, except sailor had really but forth an effort in his buck. she bumped the stallion with her right rein and pushed him forward with her western spur, the initial reaction was to pin his ears though a snort followed and he released the tension in his poll. the stallion continued to cover the ground with his simple working canter, she stirred him through the diagonal avoiding the other pair she asked him for a lead change just before they went into the corner. the change was fluid and correct, his dressage training was certainly coming in handy on the hunter course latley. he had gained so much elegence and finesse in his flatwork that his marks went up all over the map, the dressage was really good for the stallion kept his mind busy. she sat deep and he came back to a walk after they had made one turn around the ring. his first set was done, and as she looked up in time to see Bri and her mare soar over a fence. the mare was cute, she seemed to have good form even when overjumping. She had heard Bri talk to her before but didn't want to interupt, she waited for her to finish the fence before letting her western drawl hit the air.
sailor and i are hunter junkies, its really what he is best at, but we have started dressage and dabbled in jumpers. some days i even make him pack around my western saddle.
she blushed slightly thinking about their times in the hunter ring, the gelding was pretty much automatic now. he loved the hunter ring and usually saw no reason to mis-behave, he was straight forward to the fence and jumped with extreme scope and form every time. even when madison f'ed shit up he saved her by soaring over 3ft6 oxers like they were cross poles. she looked to bri then looked passed her and eyed a 2ft6 vertical, it was a simple bright blue. sitting deep in her pockets she kissed to the gelding who took his canter from the stand still, he stayed soft and didn't push through she was again impressed by how soft he was being in his simple D-ring. the approach to the fence was text book, madison saw the distance as soon as they were on their way. she was siting pretty, slightly perched in her saddle in true hunter form she couldn't help herself. as soon as they hit the spot sailor rocked back and thrust himself over the fence, with perked auds he didn't even tried though kept his form. madison's eq was certainly improved, her two point was almost perfect she overjumped slightly a habbit when you rarely jumped under 3ft. the pair landed softly and madison eyed another fence, this one was larger probably closer to 3ft the stallion didn't blink and took it with ease just as pretty as the first one, if not nicer. the stallions knee's were extra square, he landed and dropped his head throwing a small buck madison just laughed. he was feeling good, he obviously enjoyed the jumping for his buck was out of joy not trying to make madi eat it. pulling him up after a circle she looked over to bri and spoke again, her smile was sweet the tone she spoke in had good intentions.
what are your plans for her? she's pretty fancy!
ooc: ick, took a break from calc.

ooc; i kinda just tossed this together.. my muse sucks at the moment, i apologize.
Bri nodded at her comment and said “He looks like a hunter, he’s got perfect movement.”. Bri smiled and pressed the mare on with her leg, circling around random jumps to keep her mind busy. She watched Madison and Sailor go around, watching the horse closely. She could see the dressage training n him, it was just enough to make him look good but she could see just a hint of dressage in his movement. If she wanted a top hunter, she’d have to keep it at only a little bit. Then again that was just Bri’s opinion, but to her they were two very different variations of the sport. To her everything was different, the frame, the way the horse moved. She wasn’t a big believer in multi purpose horses when it came to that. Though her western pleasure mare also showed hunter flat classes- but the mare moved like a hunter horse when you pushed her forward. It was still a contradiction to all her thoughts, but she loved Zoey and enjoyed showing her at every chance she got.
Bri headed the mare towards a small vertical, about 2’6”. Bri could feel Kass rushed towards the jump, planning on taking a long sport. Bri sat up and held the mare back, using a lot of arm and upper body strength. Kass struggled with the idea of being told what to do and made what should have been and easy approach look kind of sloppy and force Bri to get slightly left behind. Bri just shook her head at the mare, who wasn’t phased by it at all. Bri turned her towards another vertical, roughly the same height. She wasn’t used to jumping this low, but she needed to warm the mare up and cross rails were just becoming like nails on a chalkboard to her- horrible. This time the mare listened better, realising that Bri was going over the fence with her and it worked a bit better when they went at the same time. The approach was fairly standard, and the sport fairly normal. Bri got a tiny bit left behind, but she always did. She’d spent weeks of just trotting fences to be able to get that down and she rarely jumped anything much lower then 3’ so they seemed very awkward to ride to.
Bri heard the girl ask her something, but waited a second as she pushed the mare into the bridle for a few steps before slowing to a walk to let the mare settle a tad bit. Plus it allowed her some time for conversation. “Definitely hunters for this girl. Probably either 3’6” or 3’9”, I don’t know what the divisions are around here. And obviously I’ll do some equitation with her. That is if you guys have that stuff here.. I’m from Canada” said Bri with a smile, biting her lip slightly. It was hard to realize that everybody here thought she had an accent, that she sounded different. She’d never had that problem, and it made her wonder what people thought of it. Did she sound down right weird? Was it cute? Was it cool? Or was it horrible all together? Hopefully it was something good.
Bri put the mare back to work, nudging gently with the small nubs she called spurs. For Kass anyways, she had bigger ones but those tended to stay on her cowboy boots and not her tall leather ones. Kass picked up a canter without hesitation and waited, almost patiently, for Bri to point her at the next fence. Bri headed to a slightly bigger one this time, probably three feet. Bri just sat up and was happy to feel the mare come back to her without a problem- as she always did when the jumps got higher. She still jumped with ease but she knew she had to listen more when there was height. Which was why Bri had only showed her below three feet once. That was her first ever hunter show. Kass found her take off sport almost effortlessly, since she was actually listening, and the pair took the fence with ease neither of them flinching at the added height. It was rare for either of them to notice height, it was just how they rolled. But Kass loved height, and Bri just loved to ride. Neither of them had a huge fear factor, they just had a lot of heart. MADISON&&SAILOR
the grey stallions pateience for standing still was certainly getting better, as they stood in the center and watched the other pair for a moment madison noticed the way the two worked together. watching the mare take the smaller fences the way she did madison didn't doubt they were used to bigger fences. she picked up her stallion and kissed to him gently, his transition from the halt to the canter was getting almost perfect. the dressage training she used on sailor was to finish the picture, they didn't go around the hunter course looking like a dressage horse. all the dressage did for the sometimes luggy and bored stallion was help rock him back and listen to his mother a little bit better, he had a habbit of doing things his way. the dressage had also helped with the sometimes sticky horses changes, watching the other girls and her mare madison took sailor down the rial. she eyed a line, wasn't certain of the striding but it looked to be close to 4 or 5 strides. the first fence was a simple brown vertical, nothing fancy but for some reason the stallion thought something of it. his auds were perked and he jumped into the line slightly big, landing further away then he should off the distance too the next fence would be slightly off. uncertain for just a second weather to chip of take off early madison pushed the stallion forward with a strong leg. the take-off wasn't as bad as madison thought it was and sailor didn't struggle with the fence at all. upon landing she sat deep and switched his lead before going through the corner onto a 3ft6 vertical. sailor was looking again, though respecting the height a little more he didn't back off or rush into it, instead he took the fence properly. madison how ever managed to overjump again, she looked like a wild jumper on a smooth hunter. chuckling as she landed she was impressed with sailor and halted once more.
thanks, we have worked alot on strengthening his canter the dressage has really helped with that.
standing still she let sailor drop his head, he snorted and released the muscles in his back once more when he reached for the ground with his slightly flared nares. madison thought back to the summers show season, the stallion had been on fire twords the end they had been overall champions on more than one occasion. they won their division's and took home overall highest point winners, she was very proud of how well sailor was showing. her thoughts went to the bay mare sitting in a stall waiting her turn patiently, gia had done exceptionally well also. madison and her had been reserve champion in their division and the bomb proof mare had won her youth division with the girl who leased her as well. madison was thinking silently to herself, reminising about the memories they shared. hearing bri speak again madison looked up and thought for a moment, Bri's voice was certainly different from hers though madison never made a big deal of them since hers wasn't exactly hard to ignore.
i certainly see her doing well in those classes, you are a brave soul i would never survive in the eq. ring! i have shown up in canada a few times, don't remeber it to be too different.
ooc: done but crummy!

“I can tell, he is very balanced and in control. What height do you plan on showing him, he’s got great scope” asked Bri as she took her turn standing in the center, watching the two. Kass danced slightly underneath her, hating the fact attention was no longer on herself. Bri ignored it for a little bit but finally raised her one rein slightly but quickly. Kass swung her head in protest but stood still, knowing that Bri meant business. Bri was actually kind of surprised that Kass listened, usually she’d spin in circles in protest first. But she was maturing, thank god. The mare had only been hers for a few months, and the first month had been spent mostly getting the mare to go around a course without being a spazz head. Bri had never met a mare the could flip a switch so fast, it wasn’t till probably mid way through the second month that Bri relieved it was her causing the problem. Her mind wandered too much when she was just schooling small stuff, she’d watch other people as she jumping around, no care in the world. Kass cared.
Bri saw a girl lead a horse with a cooler on back to the barn, it read some sort of show circuit name on it and the rest Bri couldn’t make out. Bri felt a frown come upon her face, she’d never been able to have her horse wear a cooler like that, not of their own. She’d won plenty of coolers, but after show season she always seemed to sell her horses. Bri for once just felt the need to keep a horse for a few show seasons, enjoy the horse and not just sell it. But that was the best reward, knowing you’d made the horse come that far. Maybe she’d keep Zoey, turn her into a hunter after she got a few years of flat work and showing on the flat under her belt. Just enjoy helping a young horse grow up. But could Bri do that? Could she keep a horse even if an offer came up? Probably not. Lots of people had commitment issues, Bri had them not only with people but with horses. Maybe she should start out small, like a dog. Yeah, maybe she should get a dog. Bri shook her head at herself, she’d figure it out later. Right now she needed to ride
Madison couldn’t have spoke at a better time, it was a great and easy distraction from the thoughts her mind had dug up, which were not something she really felt like dealing with at the moment. ”Well that’s good to hear, I’m actually kind of nervous to show here. I’m used to knowing the judges, knowing which ones like what and knowing which competitors will do literally anything to win. Here I’m just nothing, know nothing. It’s almost like a lesson kid entering the show world for the first time. I don’t want to embarrass myself.” said Bri, biting her lip as she realised how much personal information had just spilled out of her lips. She always did that though, always had weird moments with certain people where she’d say more then she needed to. She didn’t know why, but she sure didn’t enjoy it.
Bri pushed the mare into a trot before picking up her canter and heading towards a fence, it was probably three feet. Nothing to big to start with. Kass arched her neck slightly, almost like a jumper. Bri hated the habit and wiggled her reins slightly to get the mare to frame normally before pushing her to stride out a little more to get to the right spot. The mare left the ground without effort, as usual. Bri looked as the mare almost hung in the air over the fence. The pair landed and did a rollback to a 3’6” oxer, it was definitely a jumper jump with it’s funky colours and huge width. Kass’ ears twitched a bit before perking up and extending her stride slightly in excitement for the large fence. Bri held her back with her hands but drove her with her legs, making sure her seat was out of the saddle. Bri’s old coach on the A’s, Tim, had schooled her to death on approaching fences. She was pretty sure she approached fences in her sleep. She closed her hip angle slightly as Kass jumped the fence with a slight bit of effort. Bri loved the feeling of the mare coming up underneath her and becoming one in the air. Bri then pushed the mare to a 3’9” hunter fence. The mare went to back off but with a little leg support from Bri she went on effortlessly, clearing it with ease. After the fence Bri made the mare halt, which through Kass off a touch as she looked around wondering what the hell was up with this. Bri just laughed and patted the mare on the neck before letting her walk back to the center on a slightly loose rein. “So why don’t you like Equitation classes?” asked Bri out of curiosity as she made the mare stand patiently in the middle. MADISON&&SAILOR
as the stallion grew more impatient madison sighed, her lips were chapped from the cold breeze. her fingers grasped the reins and she shortened the stallions ability to stretch. picking him up slowly she added spur before collecting him in the face anymore. sitting deep she felt him rock back on his haunches as they walked off. she let the reins slip through her fingers and the stallion let his head fall into a lower frame, his gait was flatter than it had been whilst he was rounded up. a snort passed through his flared nares and foam dripped from his mouth as he chewed at the bit gently. the cue for him to canter was almost invisible as madison did her best to sit up and square her shoulders. taking a lighter seat she eyed a few fences, the first vertical was 3ft6 and the grey stallion took it with ease. madison took a deep breath at take off and forced herself to stay with sailor instead of jumping out of the tack. as they landed sailor chucked his head and made a grab at the bit, the next fence was a good six strides away but he was tired of waiting. chuckling to herself madison gave him a sharp half halt and sat deep for a stride till he checked back in. they came to the fence a little fast, the 3ft9 oxer was bigger than he had anticipated. a slight scramble at the base regardless of madisons effort to help out was actually compensated for in his form over the fence. he was not perfect though still managed to get his knee's up and but in a good bascule for show while madison clung to the saddle chuckling to herself. for good measure she landed him and circled back around the to take the line again, having both learned from the mistakes the second line was much better. landing she pulled him to a halt for good measure and waited till he was still, giving him his head she patted his neck gently and let him head back to the center out of bri's way. snorting contently the stallion seemed to know he was done and thingyed a hind leg as he stood still in the breeze. bri seemed to know what she was talking about, and madison appreciated how she was picking at the stallions many talents.
thanks he just keeps getting better and better with age, he wasn't always this good. umm we will probably float around 3ft9.
her eyes floated to the surroundings about her, the scene was certainly picture quality. the leaves were changing and breeze slight, the horses were relaxed in the center of a jump filled arena. a smile hit her lips and stayed as sailor turned his neck to nibble at her boot. kicking at his nose the stallion shook his head and barred his teeth before looked straight on again, obviously peeved by madisons "unfair" play. shaking her head madison smirked and dropped a hand to play with his pulled mane. her hazel eyes wandered over the scene to land on bri's mare, she really was going to be something madison didn't doubt that and from what she had seen bri knew the mare quite well and was doing a pretty good job with her. madison was spoiled as she had used trainers to put the first miles on her show horses, then finish them up for her. she did a lot of the work herself but was rarely on her own, she always had helpful eyes. that was until now, now it was just her and her horses trying to do their own thing and stay on their feet. thus far it wasn't that much of an epic fail. bri's words snapped her back to reality and madison smiled politely nodding slightly as she thought the words through for a moment.
tell me about being nervous why don't yah! I know just how yah feel! this is gunna be my first time on my own without a coach and I really don't want to go crying back having made a huge mistake. I know we can do it, its just nerve racking to think this is really it!
her eyes were large at bri for a moment, madison was glad she wasn't the only one who was nervous about this whole show season in a new place ordeal. she thought back to how much bri had just gotten out of her, slightly embarrassed she had cracked so easily she didn't even really take notice to the fact that the other girl had started the personal gut spill. she watched the pair over the fences and was again told that bri knew her stuff, it seemed so effortless and perfectly planned a well schooled rider and horse full of blossoming potential usually caught madison's eye and bri and the mare were almost making her stare. though as they walked over madison looked away for a brief moment, hoping she hadn't come off as a total stalker. her smile was genuine as she heard bri speak she blushed slightly, her western twang filled the air.
I used to be great at the eq. but I lost some finesse working with younger less broke horse and am sort of a mediocre eq rider. I don't want to be wastin course time and my horses jump on a class we will always be fourth or fifth in, I would rather focus what he is good at. My other mare excels in the eq ring. She had a junior rider last year and they did really well. If I don't have a junior on her this year I might give it a shot at a few shows to see how bad I have really gotten at it.
madison was a pretty enough rider, but she just couldn't seem to find that finesse other riders found it was apparent in most of her pictures as she was always up to something it was never quite right. her days in the equitation ring were over, she wasn't going to be a class filler especially not with those fancy show rates all added in. Gia however excelled in the EQ ring and was a solid mare who knew the job well, if madison wanted to give it a go just for shits and giggles she would use Gia as she wouldn't have to worry so much about the mare. Madison eyed the barn and considered heading back, her stallion was done and she didn't want him catching a chill. Looking to Bri she smiled sweetly before speaking once more.
Hey I gotta grab him a cooler before I walk him out, you want one too or are you not quite done?
ooc: okay so ima dirty rotten liar, sorry! its done though, i blame christmas for getting in the way!

ooc; yeah its hectic im all done though- thankgod. just have to wrap presents that other people want me to wrap haha. i ahve NO life atm.. i miss school
Bri watched the stallion go, he was lovely. If it wasn’t for the fact she’d never be able to keep a mare long enough to have a foal, let alone keep the foal, she’d consider breeding to him. But foals weren’t her thing, she could afford to buy the expensive horses nowadays, so she didn’t need to wait for them to grow up because she could afford one already on the ground and started. Bri was more likely to buy a three or four year old then anything else, the odd seven year old that just needed some good show experience. Bri had a horrible habit of just bringing something home one day, but it was what she did for a living and a good deal was well, more money in her pocket in the end. All they had to do was vet. It was fun, but kind of annoying when you had to try and get points half way through the show year but she’d done it before, a few too many times. Bri needed to find another horse that just needed somebody to make it go around the ring, probably a jumper this time around. She needed another money maker, since Zoey wasn’t going to sell for more then twenty thousand, since she was too young to start over fences. She only stood to make about fifteen grand off the mare, before taking away board and other bills, so she was actually thinking about maybe keeping her. The mare was lovely and incredible, but she wasn’t sure if she could do it. If she could keep her for more then a show season, as she hadn’t done that in a long time. Bri bit her lip, she’d prefer to just do some training work around this barn but she hadn’t seen any training positions posted anywhere. Maybe she’d talk to the owners about it, but it seemed mainly a boarding and lesson barn. But you never know.. She’d probably end up doing both. But what did it matter? It’s not like she’d ever had a life anyways, and even when she dated it was rare for it to be anything too steady. But it was always her own fault, she had slight commitment issues. Bri heard her talk and lifted her head from staring at the mare’s mane, which is where she seemed to look when she was in deep thought. Bri was actually kind of amazed the mare was standing, maybe both of them were actually growing up? The words kind of hit Bri’s heart, he wasn’t always this good. [ “How long have you had him?” asked Bri, pushing Kass into a walk figuring she should get a few more jumps in before calling it a day.
Bri was walking the mare around in a circle as Madison spoke about being nervous, letting the mare have her muscles warm up a bit and the fact Bri really wanted to hear what she had to say. “Yeah, it’s weird not having a coach at shows. It used to throw me off a ton when I’d have to show without one, I used to just take a friend who rode and have them stand in the ring- Hard part is you have to make sure it’s not somebody showing as an amateur. But my one friend was showing western at the time but rode hunters on the side, so it worked out really good for me. It’s going to be interesting, but I get so focused I’m just going to imagine a coach in the center for now. I’m not big on taking lessons unless I’ve see the person ride a few times- It screws me up if they don’t ride like I do, which is hard to find because well I ride like a hunter with a twist of jumper. Very versatile way to ride, but a pain in the ass to find somebody who does the same.” said Bri, her mind wandering with her words. She had a horrible habit of talking to much, but at least she’d kicked her habit of saying ‘like’ all the time. Weird thing was she wasn’t a preppy girl that was the stereotype for the word, she just couldn’t keep up with her own mouth- which was very sad.
Bri pushed the mare into a canter and decided to do the same line she’d saw Madison due out of the corner of her eye. It had rode at a six the second time, if she had counted right. It looked like a six, but it may be a slight hold for Kass. She covered ground easily, too easily sometimes. Bri pushed the mare but held with her hands as she turned towards the fence. About two strides out she saw the spot but knew she was going to chip in bad or leave long, really long. Bri sat and drove, a horrible habit she had back from when she started riding. It had become her comfort level, sitting. Which was weird, because she was ten times more secure in her two point. Kass’ ears twitched not used to the habit, as Bri had almost demolished it. Kass stretched out in response though slightly confused and took a decent spot. The fence wasn’t the prettiest that’s for sure, but the mare had the scope for it no problem and took it with ease. Bri knew as soon as she landed she’d judged the line wrong and pushed Kass into her normal stride and a slight touch more extension to make up for a little lost ground. She could hear her coaches voice ‘ugly in, pretty out Bri. Sit up and ride.”. Bri smiled at the thought of her coach as she listened to the invisible voice. Kass took a nice spot to the oxer and they cleared it with ease and probably six inches to spare since Kass had some spring in her step. Bri turned her towards another oxer, probably four feet tall and a large width. It looked like it’d been set for a higher height judging by the width but the poles had been knocked down. Kass perked her ears and Bri sat up, already seeing that it was going to be a fairly standard approach. As Kass landed after the oxer Bri cantered a circle before walking her, just making her think slightly. “You could do it, it’s just getting used to going slower then jumper but making tighter turns and keeping the horse balanced. I had a jumper coach and a hunter coach before that worked together with me, it worked nicely. If you ever want to show it, I recommend that. Having multiple coaches. But it’s hard to find one good coach, let alone two.” said Bri as she walked the mare on a loose rein, debating whether or not to head to the barn. When Madison spoke up Bri smiled and nodded, leading the way back to the barn. She wasn’t sure where Kass’ cooler was, but she had a few dozen hanging around.

MADISON&&SAILOR
She was patient for a few moments, as was the stallion standing and waiting. His manners were good but this was certainly pushing it. He was done and he knew he was done so sailor now resented standing still for too long. to keep an eye on the mare and Bri as they seemed to wrap things up she had to circle the gelding every now and again. Madison thought back to the stallion’s early beginnings, he had a few nasty habits and had managed to make Madison eat dirt a time or two. Sailor had grown so much, his problem as a younger colt was the fact that he remained so distracted, it wasn’t mares that made him misbehave but sheer activity. If there was too much going on the colt got spooky, or overly playful with the horses around him. Though his tricks were sort of dirty and un-expected they were generally good natured if that makes any sense at all. He would buck in playfulness, or slid to a stop at a fence in fear. He used to give all the right signs approaching a scary fence, then check out at the last possible second and change his mind. The dirty trick had even managed to make Madison’s trainer take a spill at one show, though sailor was actually scared of every fence he stopped at it wasn’t unwillingness to go forward or disobedience but lack of miles and exposure. When they worked on it at home he was soon pretty bombproof and was otherwise a simple horse. He always had an easy gait, he didn’t struggle with balance or staying straight though some days he was a little stiff it was always minor with the colt. Bri spoke out again and Madison did some quick math in her head, the answer amazed even herself he was one of the horses she had owned for the longest.
Just about seven years now I guess, oh how time flies. And your mare, how long you had her?
Madison assumed Bri had owned the mare for a while; they really looked like quite the team even if they had a few oh shit moments who didn’t? And they seemed to always hold it together and better themselves. Her hand ran over the stallion’s muscular neck and she smirked as he turned his head to chew at the toe of her cowgirl boot, tsking at him she shook her foot gently. She knew he was coming to his limit for standing, and didn’t really blame him the only time they stood this long was at shows. Madison usually had a string of horses to work and wasn’t used to just having the two, she had the most time on her hands she had in a while and quite frankly didn’t know what to do with it some days. She really had to get on finding herself a job, she had applied at the stables but heard no reply hopefully they were just being slow. Bri seemed to talk easily now and Madison enjoyed the conversation, she often found herself nodding and smiling thinking almost the exact same thing. Mentioning coaches made Madison shake her head, she always seemed to find herself a shitty one before she could find someone worth listening too. Her last coach and trainer had been third times the charm, this time she was hoping that it wouldn’t take quite that long. Madison was past the point of needing lessons more than once or twice a week and she only really needed someone to watch her warm up over fences and then her class nothing too complicated but yeah it really mattered who you got to do that. Amateur status always made Madison’s head spin. She had shown a variety of breeds among hunters and things always seemed to be changing just a little bit, thus far she was keen on the idea as long as there was no cash being exchanged things were okay. Her southern tone spoke out with a smile on her face.
Tell me about it, I had a hell of a time finding my last trainer, that’s why it took me so long to leave and get out on my own. I knew it would take a while to find someone perfect for both my horses. As for amateur status don’t even get me started, I have had my fair share of problems within the different equine industries.
She chuckled to herself and threw her leg over sailors back, landing with a soft thud she moved around him and ran up the stirrups then loosened his girth. She stood at his head and watched Bri and her mare work once more. Even when they had a minor error she seemed to recover and ride twice as hard, that was the way Madison had always been taught. If you eff up you have to ride twice as hard to make up for it, that’s the only way you stood a chance of being pinned with a ribbon. Bri spoke again as they approached, Madison stood again listening and thinking back to her eq days, it really had been a fine line and a lot of work on her coach’s part. Petting sailor on the neck she took a step in front of him her body angled to the exit, listening she let her own voice speak out before heading out of the arena.
Yah its gunna take some work but I might just be up for it, having only two horses is weird but leaves me with lotsa time I never had before. Might leave me more time to find myself a good coach or two, if you find anyone worthwhile let me know!
