,,sweet {{HOME}} alabama,, where the skies are so blue -----SWEET HOME ALABAMA-----Lord, I'm coming home to you The morning ray hit the desk with little effort as they poured through the open window, the smell of winter hung in the air... She loved winter, of course, she did not know why, maybe it was because she was born in the season, maybe it was because she HATED the summer time more then anything, she did not like working in the heat, but she survived and she would have to survive it. She turned in her seat, grabbing a letter from her mother, reading over it again before she put the last thing in what she was writing and then folded the letter, putting it in a envelope and signing everything on the envelope. She was whispering to herself to make sure she sent the letter off or at least put it in the mail box later in the evening.
She got up, smoothing her hands over her blue jeans, grabbed her boots and pulled them on. She was wearing a small white shirt, which was tucked in nicely and then she grabbed a blue flannel shirt, pulling the sleeves to her elbows and grabbing her jacket to put over it. She set on the bed and pulled on her boots before she grabbed her black hat and put it on sliding her finger over the brim and smiling at the mirror. She enjoyed wearing her hat here, because not many people, well, at least while she was here, wore a hat like her's, but she had only just arrived and had not done much the day before since it had been late getting here from Alabama.
She grabbed her phone, tucking it in her pocket and then walking out the door, shutting it and heading out. She did not talk to anyone, did not know anyone, so she headed straight out. She was going to the barn to grab Curse and take him for a ride through the barrels since she knew he would want to stretch his legs. She pulled on the jacket, the cold air touching her skin made her hair stand on end and she smiled once her coat was on. She loved winter, but even she knew that she did not like the cold. She started humming a Hymnal from her old church as she walked, moving towards the barn and soon stepping in the warm barn.
As she entered, she could hear Curse pawing at the door of the stall, her crazy, hyper, calmless horse wanting nothing more then to release his energy. She shook her head, walking into the tack room quickly and coming out with the saddle, saddle pad, and bridle, the groom it already on the bench where she had left it the night before. "Calm down boy, no need for that." She said as she stuck her hand in the stall, rubbing his fore head before she brought him out, hooking him to a rope and began brushing over his smooth both with her hand. "I know, this is a new place, but there is no need for being so hyper about it." He snorted, as if he understood her.

Morning... it was of no concern to Austin Gaines. Half the time he didn't even know if it was day or night. I suppose that was because of his status as a "Workaholic." But to Austin, his work wasn't really work... it was like a great big game to him... a game that could make just about anyone panic at the touch of a button. Of course, most of the time there was no panic, considering most of the time what he did was scheduled...but on occasion he would just throw something out there just to freak people out a little bit and remind them of how volatile they were and let them practice stopping people from getting in.
Wondering what it is that he does? Simple. A professional hacker was the title he had been given, and he most certainly was a professional. Austin could do anything with a computer, from hacking the FBI undetected to turning a simple laptop into an extremely high powered control panel, he could do it all. Cell phones, Ipods, Mp3 players, radios, TV's, navigation systems... Austin was no stranger to any of it. He'd been there and done that as far as any technology was concerned. He could be a great help to people if they knew him, but at the same time, somehow managing to get on his bad side was not a good idea... well, unless you were an Amish person and had no technology for him to screw up for you.
On this particular day, he'd been up all night working on a project for such and such a government agency... the name of which they hadn't actually disclosed to him... which was pointless since he figured it out by hacking them anyway... but even so... it was a high level project, and not even Austin's girlfriend could know any details on it. Top Secret... the sort of projects that he had to sign a form declaring that he wouldn't even so much as hint to the nature of the work. He personally didn't get the whole "top secret" deal... if he wanted to tell some enemy of the country, he'd just have them pay him millions and had it over to them, then use those millions to disappear of the face of the earth... of course he would never do that, but even so.
After several cups of coffee with extra caffeine, he headed out to the stable to go take care of his trio of non-human companions. Vodka on the Rocks, Absinthe, and Rolling Stone II... more fondly known as Vodka, Abbi, and Ross by those who knew the three horses. Vodka was essentially perfection in the form of a horse... almost. His conformation was practically perfect, his strides were even and smooth, he could jump the moon if he wanted to, and he would never hesitate at a jump... his problem? Shows. He absolutely hated shows. There was no telling why, no one had ever figured it out, but the horse had never cleanly cleared a jump in the show ring in his life. In practice he was perfect... at a show, he was hell.
Abbi was an angel of a horse. She wasn't much of a jumper, but she'd go over cross-rails without a problem if you asked her to. She was perfect at dressage though, transitioning smoothly and willingly, doing everything asked of her... and she'd only had a year of training after her rehabilitation had been completed from being shot by her former owners. Austin was convinced that she would be the perfect kid's horse. Yeah, she still needed some training, considering she was young and hadn't had much experience, but that was why Austin had her... to get her leveled out. It wouldn't take long, and someday soon she would be the best lesson horse around.
Ross... well... he was a different story from the other two entirely. The nearly 17 hand horse was possibly the brattiest animal around. He would fight his rider and his handler for everything, getting away with whatever he possibly could whenever he could. He was young, yes, but he was also extremely intelligent, which was the problem. He didn't want to just do whatever he was told, he wanted a reason to do what he was told, and that normally meant the reason would have to be "do or die." He was a wonderful horse when he would behave, but other than that it was just plain old awful. He could jump anything... he had proven that by his numerous escapes from whatever enclosure he was put in, no matter what the height of the fences keeping him there or how complicated the latch on the stall door was. How he did it, no one really knew... but no one really wanted to find out either.
Abbi and Ross had both been worked pretty good yesterday, so Austin figured he would let the mare and gelding have the day off and just work with Vodka. Austin wasn't really the horse training sort... not with ornery horses like Ross... but he was determined that the big horse would be converted into a good eventer someday. After all, with training, he could sell the horse for a lot more than he'd gotten him for if things didn't work out between the two of them. Upon arrival at the stable, he wasn't surprised in the least to find Ross standing outside the pasture fence, watching him with an almost smug appearance about him. The gelding's escape was a rather regular thing, and most people had gotten so used to seeing him outside the fence that they weren't bothered by it anymore.
Austin just sighed, grabbed the lead rope from the barn, and went to go catch the big black animal. It took a little while, but the horse seemed a little more willing to obey today than most days. When he had captured the escapee, he headed back up to the barn to get him actually put away securely. Of course, Austin never followed the barn rules... he rode English, but you'd NEVER catch him in those English breeches... and he didn't care if they said you HAD to wear a helmet while jumping... the way he saw it, he had more than enough brain cells, what was wrong with losing a few? Yes, he was crazy... but no one bothered him about it... it wasn't worth it, he'd never listen anyway.
When he arrived at the barn, someone else had their horse out... someone who Austin hadn't seen around the stable before now. Despite the fact that most people said you should always walk on your horse's left side, he quickly maneuvered Ross over to the opposite side, so that he was between him and the other horse. As soon as Ross spotted the other horse, his ears pinned back and he started getting all tense... just as Austin had suspected. Ross didn't really like other horses. He wouldn't bother them if there was a fence between him and the other horse, but if he had access to the other horse, then he'd be more than happy to take a chunk out of them.
As they approached the other horse, Austin gave a sharp jerk on the lead rope, just in time to keep Ross from stretching out his neck and biting the other horse. Of course, the gelding was displeased with this and gave Austin one of his signature "I'm angry at you" expressions, irritated squeal included, before dancing to the side with a little bit of a rear and buck. He wasn't aiming at anything, just being a brat, as usual. Sorry. Austin said apologetically to the girl with an easy going and completely unperturbed smile once they were past her and her horse, and Ross was no longer within striking range of them. Before the horse could do something stupid, Austin hastily got him in his stall and latched all three of the latches they had put on there to prevent the horse's escape.
Once Ross was put away securely, he lead the much more sedate Vodka out of his stall, and put him in the cross ties, not at all worried about him misbehaving. When he was clipped in, Austin headed back over to where he'd passed the other rider and her horse, completely unable to resist the habit of meeting every stranger he passed. Sorry about Ross, he said, apologizing once again just for the sake of making conversation, He's a pain most days. Understatement of the year... but if he had said it more like it was, odds were none of what he said would be all that appropriate... and he was more considerate than that.

,,sweet {{HOME}} alabama,, where the skies are so blue -----SWEET HOME ALABAMA-----Lord, I'm coming home to you The morning was just going on and one, like it never stopped, of course, Autumn did not really mind, she was not a BIG fan of the morning, but she still liked the calm and silence that it brought, along with the gold rays when the sun was shining. She took her time brushing over the coat, one place at a time, focusing and using this time to bond with Curse more and more. Each stroke made her relax more, turning into a pile of mush and honestly, she was scared he might fall from being turned into that. She light slapped his shoulder, working the muscle with her hand, feeling the tenseness from. "No sleeping on me." Her voice was as pleasant as everything and his body just turned to look at her.
She had yet to really, meet anyone, but she figured it would come with passing. She could listen to the radio, stay in touch with people back in the boondocks of Shelby and learn about everything going on. She had stayed up a while last night talking to some friend on a conference call, listening as they talked about how the school was going and how they missed her. She missed them too, so very much, honestly, she figured she needed this time with Curse to calm her own nerves. She had watched her mother drive off yesterday, waving her hand out the window with ease, spotting before she turned out of sight. She was gone and the only thing Autumn could do was stay here. She had a car, but she was alone and with no way to get Curse home until her mom came and got her for holidays. She would have to make sure that Curse stayed on his work outs, she did not want someone else handling him, it took away the bond they had developed over the years.
She rubbed her eyes with her hand, stopped brush in order to think. Her body swayed slightly and she felt something hit her arm, making her look to see that Curse was using every bit of the rope slack and she patted his nose. "I am fine, just a little tired boy." She stroked his cheek, before she put the brush down and worked her fingers into his pelt. She had watched her mother do it to a old mare they had had, saw how she worked her hands into the muscle, allowing the horse to relax and gain relieve from the pain. Her mother had waited till the last moment to put her own, watched how she struggled each day to fight, she would not put it down, not until the fight left her eyes. It left her eyes finally and only sadness was there. Autumn had to hold back tears at the memories. She hated remembering those days, how she would cry after something like that and then get beaten at him. Her hand rubbed her shoulder, which was still as dark as ever from the last beating, but it was hidden... Unless she took of the flannel, which might happen since she was already getting hot without the jacket.
She knew she needed to grab a bottle of water, it would give Curse something to relieve his thirst when they were working. She knew not to give him a whole lot, but just enough to get him some relieve. The cold air would kill his throat and lung, but the water would help it out. She stopped, looking around at the other horse, which by now had poked their head out in order to see her. She smiled, thinking about the other horses she had at home that might come up here when she was ready for them, if she ever got ready for them. She was not sure if she wanted them here, but it was a thought and at least Curse would have other he knew. She smiled at the thought before he went back to working her fingers, changing to the right side to work his right side of the neck. He snorted, the sound of comfort that came from him. "Feel good?" She smiled and worked the wither area and shoulder, being careful with the area, going around each muscle with tough hands and then going back to the other side.
Curse would do a good days work with this muscle work, she knew a nice barrel practice was needed, to help loosen him up and then she would take him through the pleasure steps before taking him for a long, calming trail right... Calming? She laughed, could not help but smile as she continued to work. The last thing she did was have a calm trail ride, there was always something BOUND to happen to her, weather it be come across a snake, or the Florida Panther that she and Curse had run into. Calming was not the word for this kind of trip, only adventuresome and crazy. She could not wait to get out there, back in the saddle which she had spent a WHOLE day away from. Curse needed the work...
Someone came in and out, quickly, she saw his figure and turned and watched, waiting to see who came in. They did not come back, whoever it was, but she did not like being surprised. She watched for a second longer and then went back to working the muscle before she heard Curse snort and his head turn. She saw a young man come in and she gave a nod of her head, going back to working the muscle, while Curse watched the horse. She felt him tensing and she slapped his rump. "Settle!" Her voice was stern, very stern and he obeyed. She glanced to see the pinned ears on the other horse and then looked at Curse. "Don't you do it." Her mumbling did nothing, as the horse tried to reach other, Curse, pushed his rump to his left, pushing her towards the stall and making him Parallel with the wall.
"Sorry." She glanced up and nodded her head before she pushed him back out and slapped his shoulder with the brush. He looked back at her, his dark eyes looking at her. She hated that look, it was like puppy eyes, saying, I only wanted to protect you. How could see stay mad at the horse, he had been trained by her mother and had been taught more then anything most horses learned. Protection of their rider and trainer, which was beyond wonderful. The boy brought out another horse and then came towards her. She stopped, going under the neck to the right of the horse. "Sorry about Ross... He's a pain most days." She smiled at the young man and nodded.
"No problem, Curse can be the same if he wants to be," She said, her thick southern accent coming through as she patted the horse on the shoulder. It did not even quiver and she smiled. He was ready to go to work, his muscles were relaxed and they were perfect for a nice work out.

There was no one way to describe Austin Gaines. He was a million contradictions within himself, and it was literally impossible to find a single adjective to describe him. People had tried, but always failed to find one that was actually a word in the English dictionary. There were probably whole research teams trying to figure Austin out, but none of them would ever even come close. He was one of a kind, and as such, no one could ever really understand him. It was entirely possible that the pot back in freshman year had taken a little more of a toll on him than he thought... but chances were that was just the way he was born.
He was without a doubt the single most nerdy guy on the face of the earth. If it was technology, he probably knew more about it than the person who created it. Computers, phones, ipods, TV's, video games, videos, graphics, software, hardware, internet, hell even lighting and the electrical/computer part of cars. He was your go to man on anything involving any sort of modern technology. Odds were if he couldn't fix it, it was far beyond repair. He could do math in his head like nobody's business, whether it was simple addition multiplication division subtraction or some complicated quantum physics problem he could solve it in an extremely short time.
He also happened to be extremely athletic... at least in body type. He was well muscled, despite the fact that he didn't really work out much at all, and he was tall. Of course, he was quite uncoordinated, and sports were a major no go with him, but that didn't matter. Back when he lived in California he had been a surfing instructor, and the beach he worked at soon became called "Austin's beach" by all the locals because every single girl in the area knew that he would be found there and often took advantage of that... or at least tried to. In that sense he was quite the "jock" appearance wise.
Wondering how he got to be like that? Well, I'll tell you. He was adopted at birth by a family in California who were... lets face it, loaded. Everyone knew he was adopted, and it became pretty evident as they got older. His brothers were sports stars, all reaching maturity and excelling in sports at an early age. But Austin... well he was another case entirely. He was basically a major nerd, a geek. Because of this the number of friends he had was equaled in that to the amount of hand eye coordination he had... yup, you guessed it... zilch. Thanks to that, he had more than enough time to spend on the computer simply figuring stuff out.
By the time he reached middle school, he was practically a professional with all things computer, and started moving on to cell phones and other such technology. When he hit high school, he was still a nerd... but instead of going with the big glasses and all that, he went for the hippie deal. Yes, I mean real true blue hippie. He did the long rather wild hair, the tie-dye shirts, the pot and occasionally other drugs, though none of them ever really became addictions that he would have to fight.
Sophomore year he moved onto the "Science guy" look with the no frame glasses, the tidy hair, constantly in the lab doing something or another. He also started tutoring for math, and damn was he ever good at it. He could teach somebody something in about 10 seconds flat with no problem. That was when people first started liking him more. Once they found out that he was more fluent in technology than... well lets just say if there was going to be a Tony Stark in the school, it would be Austin. All his peers started bringing their virus infected computers to him, their cell phones, their music players, their whatever they were having issues with, to him, and he'd do what he could to fix them or else at least diagnose the problem so they could get it fixed.
Junior year the nerd look went out the window all together and he started teaching surfing lessons. That was when his popularity sky-rocketed...among the women anyway. The other guys didn't like it too much... especially the ones he worked with who started getting less business because of the "new hot instructor" who just happened to be single and very available. Of course, he didn't stay single for long, especially when he met Alex Chasse the summer before his senior year. He was quite in love with her, and she seemed to be in love with him too. Sure, his 6'1" dwarfed her 5'2" but that didn't matter, she was hot, and they were happy together.
Anyway, Alex left at the end of the summer, and Austin went on with life as he had before. After graduation he moved away from California to Pinewood West Virginia. He'd made several good investments that had come back and dumped truck loads of moolah into his lap very quickly, not to mention the government job he had. They had to pay him a lot of money to keep him on their side. Someone like him not being paid by them could be a very dangerous thread to the government. He could hack their systems and sell their information without ever knowing he'd done it. For that reason he had a ridiculously high salary for what he considered very little work.
Once there he happened to run into Alex again, and quickly discovered he still had feelings for her. He didn't say anything though, since she was engaged and all, and the last thing he wanted was to cause problems in her relationship. Besides, she and Anthony were perfect for each other, and he deserved her. So he was going to stay out of it. That was when he ran into Lexi. Sebastian warned him that Lexi was breakable, and Austin being just as overly confident with himself stated that he would be "very delicate with the fragile inner workings of Lexi's heart" and took the plunge. He'd met her and had been hanging out with her quite a bit when the airport systems went down. Of course he was the one they called to fix it.
While in the middle of repairing the damage of a fried server, he noticed Lexi in the line of passengers waiting for the system to be back up so they could get on their planes and leave. He wasn't about to fix the computers and let Lexi fly away though. So he went over and talked her into staying, then finished the job, and took Lexi home with him. He was very much in love with her, and wasn't sure he could handle letting another woman he had feelings for fly away without a word of protest. Of course he then had that sly way of asking her out, she agreed, and eventually the feelings became mutual. Needless to say it was smooth sailing from there. Now they were expecting a baby, and although the thought of being a dad before he reached the age of 21 terrified him, he was currently more happy with his life than he ever had been.
He nodded when she said her horse... Curse... could be the same way. He really doubted any horse could possibly be as much of a pain as Ross could be, but he knew that every horse had their off days... even Abbi. I don't think I've met you yet. he said, knowing he hadn't... he never forgot anyone... photographic memory. He could tell you exactly what the guy three grades above him wore on February 12 when Austin was a freshman. Once he saw something he would never forget... especially people. I'm Austin. he added, offering her his hand, the ever friendly grin still plastered on his face just as it always was. He was possibly the most easy going person on the face of the earth, and it took something really huge to get him down.

,,sweet {{HOME}} alabama,, where the skies are so blue -----SWEET HOME ALABAMA-----Lord, I'm coming home to you She was honestly not sure what you would say about her, Autumn was just a normal southern girl, with a lot of GOOD morals in this world. She liked morals, that was how she was raised and how she lived all her life. It was just something in her life that she loved, when through during her years of growing up and that was learning her morals and being the best girl in the world. Her mother always told her to be herself but never allow yourself to be like that of her father. She had agreed with her mother, started helping her with horses, staying away from the man when he was laid out drunk in the house. She forgot she had a father, it was pretty easy to do in her honest opinion.
She had gone to school the innocent girl that every guy heard about, that every jock wanted to get in bed because they wanted to say that they broke her. She had no true friends in her high school, only the people who went to church with her that was in a different city, so she did not have to see them at school and she could truly be there friends. At school, she was always to herself, the cheerleader talked about her, watched as she came in with dirt on her jeans from a horse or mud on her boots. She had hit a number of them, boys and girls, making them see she was no push over and then going to the office because of it. They called her the freak, even though she was just a normal southern girl. She knew what true parties were, had seen them at her mother's friends house. They were not total beer bombs, they had GOOD music and food with some beer and game animal for food and then sodas for the kids.
That was a true party and when she invited the people to the party they left a early and she would laugh. They did not know what a good party was and she knew that waiting to drink would be the best part of her lift. Yea, she had drank before, she knew what ever drink tasted like, her mother had given her some after long parties and she would enjoy it. If kids would of stayed a bit longer, they would have gone to taste the love of the drink. She would laugh when they asked her how the lame party went and she would tell them that they should of stayed till the end. She would sit back and watch as they tried to figure out what she meant. The people at church knew and they knew it was not a crime to drink, only to get drunk off the rocker and do stupid things, hell, half the people at the party were from the church, even the pastor came to enjoy the social time, but he never drank more then one. It was funny talking to him with a beer in his hand, because you would never see a pastor with a beer in his hand and then Sunday talking about how drinking is not a sin that Jesus did it, only getting drunk was a sin.
Most the boys around the church knew her as being the wild child of the church, but she was so much more. She had gained the nickname Mustang for a reason in the church, called that by every student in the whole place. She had been the one to go crazy at a split second, just like a mustang, would be kind at one point and then boiling mad at the next because of someone stupid. One would call her bipolar, but she did not believe such a thing, that was just her way. She had earned the nickname, as everyone had earned their own name and she liked it. She had helped so many at her church and when people at school looked at her weird when she got picked up by a group of kids in a pick up calling her mustang she would just smile, answering them all back with their own nickname. Like PK for the preacher's kid, who was very kind. She loved her friends, she could barely believe she left them.
She had talked to all of them on the phone and stuff, seeing how everyone was back in Alabama. She missed them so much, just seeing them was what she wanted, but that was the past and she would have to get over it. She would return home, see her mom, step dad, she hoped, friends from church, and the people around her home. She could not wait to get him, could not wait! Most people hated home, but she loved it, wanted it all back, just for herself. This place was way different then her home, everything seemed to be in the perfect kind of place, she liked it, but she did not like perfect, she wanted to see a mess sometimes, she liked it. "I don't think I've met you yet." She had not met him and she nodded. She smiled a little, patting Curse's neck gentle, her hands doing three perfect pats at the same speed and same place. "I'm Austin."
She took his hand, using a firm grip and shaking it. "I'm Autumn, nice to met ya." Her southern voice was easy to see and then she looked at Curse. "And this is Curse." He snorted at his name and turned his head towards her, nudging her hip with his nose. She smiled and patted his neck.

Austin's relationship with Alex was really the only one he cared to remember. He'd had plenty of flings and one night stands... and a few friends with benefits... but before Lexi, Alex was really the only one he actually had feelings for. He really didn't fall into a particular category there either. He wasn't quite like... say Anthony who was only in it for the relationship and actually loved the girl he was with, but he wasn't like Sebastian used to be either in that he wasn't in it only for the sex. He kind of fell on a happy medium there. He wanted to find a girl that would stay with him, but he wasn't expecting to find love through the one night stands. They were just in it for the sex there, and he knew it, so he wouldn't look for anything more. Flings... they were possible... but unlikely, so he wasn't really looking there either. Friends with benefits... well he was fairly sure those relationships weren't going to get anymore than that, so he didn't look there either.
To be perfectly honest, he really wasn't looking at all when he saw Lexi for the first time. She had been bringing her horse up to the barn after working him, and he'd just put Vodka back after a trail ride, and had been talking to Sebastian when she started coming their way. Honestly the first thought that entered his mind when he saw her was "......." yup... you guessed it. Nothing. She was unbelievably hot and there was pretty much no words that could do her justice. He was enamored to say the least... and that was when Sebastian warned him to be careful with her. He knew Austin too well, and the expression that had crossed his face had probably said just exactly what he was thinking. Sure he was only 19 and she was 25, but that wasn't about to throw Austin Gaines off the trail... oh hell no. He was just as c.ocky as Sebastian, and he knew he had a good chance at this.
Of course, Austin had something that most guys didn't have that tended to give him a better chance than most... and that was his incredible ability to be a c.ocky ass yet at the same time, somehow also amazingly sweet. Sure guys like Sebastian could pretend to be all kind and caring to get the girl into bed, but Austin... well he didn't have to pretend. He was just an over all nice guy, and most of the time when he was "bragging" about something he usually wasn't serious. He could make fun of himself... hell he had to, I mean really, if people saw the pictures from his high school years they'd be in hysterics. He found it pretty entertaining himself... it was jut one more way he wasn't like most guys. He'd been there and done that, and "enjoyed every minute of his lack of sanity."
I'm sure you can't imagine how awkward it was for him to tell Alex that he still had feelings for her. Sebastian and Austin had run into one another at the Park and then happened upon Hayley and Alex. The girls got drunk... well Alex did, Hayley just got high... and Sebastian and Austin figured it would be a good idea to get them home before they did something stupid. Sebastian apparently could tell that Austin still had a thing for Alex, because the look he gave him pretty much said "if I have to choose between Anthony and you, I'd go with Anthony, so stay away from his fiance." Austin couldn't say he blamed him... who wouldn't take Anthony over Austin? Hell if Austin was given a choice between himself or Anthony he'd probably take Anthony. He was a hell of a lot better person than Austin and 99.9% of the world's population, and Austin was glad Alex had found him.
Of course, when they got back to the house, Austin told Alex that he would be better off not going in, she of course asked why, and even he with his quick wit couldn't come up with an answer that didn't come across awkwardly. It sort of came out as "I think people are getting the wrong impressions about our relationship." of course meaning that people were starting to notice that he liked her bus since she was engaged and all... yeah it wasn't a good thing. She laughed and said pretty much that that was ridiculous, and he responded with "yeah... if it weren't true." And that's when she found out. He wasn't sure if she even remembered it, since she'd still been rather drunk at the time. If he was lucky she didn't remember any of it, and now that she was married and he had Lexi, it didn't matter quite so much.
Little did Austin know, he had Lexi and then some. He really didn't know where he stood on the whole being a dad deal, he hadn't ever really thought about it. Go figure right? What 20 year old guy thought about being a dad when he was only dating and living with a girl. Marriage too... that thought hadn't ever really crossed his mind with Lexi. He was just so caught up in loving her and going through daily life that it hadn't ever occurred to him. It was only natural though. He'd only known Lexi for a months or two, and committing like that for Austin was going to take longer than 60 days time. Probably more like a year at least at this point. Sure he had the house and the money to afford having a wife and a baby, but still, he hadn't really thought about it.
Likewise. he said with a grin when she took his hand, released it, and introduced her horse. The name curse hardly seemed fitting for the horse. He seemed like more of a gentlemanly horse than would be fitting for the name Curse. Then again, he had two horses named after quite strong alcoholic drinks... and neither of them were really all that fitting for the horses. He seems like a pretty smart horse. He said as the horse reacted to his name being spoken. Smart horses were usually the best horses... though sometimes they could be a pain. Smart horses always wanted a reason to do what they were told instead of just doing it. As soon as you gave them that reason though, they would do it... so even though there was often a fight, once they got going they were flawless. Every horse had their own personality, and you had to work with them on a personal level. No one was like the other, the best trainers and riders knew that much.
