The only sound that could be heard in the early morning fog, was the sound of Mandy’s spurs clicking as she walked to the pasture to get her horse, Playboy so that they could train for a bit. Mandy scanned the pasture to see where he would be, sure enough she could see that he was at the far side of the pasture. So before calling for him she looked around to make sure no one was there. Mandy yelled out “Playboy, come on boy!” The head of a Palomino Quarter Horse shot up and looked in the direction of Mandy.
Mandy called out again “Come on boy” and like a bullet, the gelding took off towards Mandy and as he reached the gate. he come to a sliding stop, he stood still as Mandy opened the gate and clipped the lead rope to his halter. When they where out of the pasture Mandy grabbed a handful of Playboy’s mane and swung herself on to his back. Mandy adjusted herself on him before nudging him gently with her spurs. She turned him onto the path that led to the barn. on the way to the barn, Mandy looked at her watch it was only 6:30.
She would maybe have time to herself in the Barrel arena. Barrel Racing was Mandy’s favourite event. So she wanted to practice more on it today. When she reached the barn, Mandy asked Playboy to stop. Mandy swung her leg over Playboy’s head and dismounted. She took him to his stall so she could feed him his grain. Mandy started mixing his grain
After Mandy fed Playboy she went to the take room grab his barrel bridle and not the saddle. She wanted to practice without the saddle today. She opened his stall door and walked in with the grooming kit. Mandy just quickly run a brush over him and picked his hooves out and checked his shoes before grabbing his bridle. She slid his halter off his head held his bridle out so he could put it on himself.
Playboy dropped his head into the bridle and Mandy slipped it on over his ears and adjusted it so it would be comfortable. She opened the stall door and led playboy towards the Arenas. All that could be heard in the barn was the sound of metal shoes hitting the floor in a rhythm of clip-clop, clip-clop. As they went by the rows of stall some horses would stick their heads out and watch them go by. Mandy stopped Playboy outside the barn, and swung onto his back.
She then nudged him into a walk towards the arenas. When Mandy got there, she opened the gate and asked Playboy to walk though. She closed it after Playboy was though. Mandy looked around the arena to see that the barrels where still setup. She smiled as she could feel Playboy shifting under her; she knew he had spotted the barrels.
