flood playfully lipped at his owners hair yet quickly stopped when she pushed his mouth away from her body. erica gently slipped his baby-blue halter on the stud's head followed by snapping a matching lead to it. once haltered, the young lady swung open the stallion's stall door and walked him out. a stall or two down, they stopped to grab another horse. this one, much younger.
bully stood quiet as his owner slipped a chain over his dark muzzle and wrapped it around, clipping it to the end of the chain. when the shank was slipped through the halters sides, under the horse's chin, and clipped together, erica began walking out of the horse's box, grabbing the older stallion, then walking them both towards the shorter trail. slowly but surely, bully begun following his owner whilst flood happily walked at a good pace beside her. a world showmanship horse, flood knew that he could be beside his favorite person but, was not allowed to crowd her.
as the trio calmly started walking on the trail, the yearling's persona changed almost immediatly. he went from a reluctant to move horse, to one who was extremely nervous. ears pricked forward, eyes wide, and necked arched tightly as he pranced beside his owner, obviously unsettled about the change of scenery. a quick jerk of the lead from erica's hand was enough to stop the young colt from prancing but, wasn't enough to loosen him up. that, he would have to do himself.
half-way down the path, bully had calmed down. happy, erica walked the horses to a small, open field which was perfect for grazing for a few moments. flood patiently waited for his owner to allow him to eat. she looped his lead around his halter then, told him to go ahead. however, bully was not given that freedom right away. he was forced to wait. once he learned that he had to be given the okay to eat, erica loosened the lead, stepped back, then allowed the colt to eat for a few minutes before heading back.
