Kassie had already had her last ciggarette today. She was only allowed two a day. She coughed deeply before flicking the butt onto the ground, smushing it beneith her rubber riding boot. she walked to the paddocks and squinted her eyes against the sun to find her horse, Envy. The stallion was with all the other studs, and he looked up, to lock eyes with Kassie. Envy was still young, but Kassie had began teaching him tricks, aswell as riding him bareback. The tobiano trotted over, and Kassie clipped the lead line to his headstall. She led him out, and quickly threw herself onto the stallion's back. She didnt really care if people saw her riding without a helmet, or a saddle, or, most importantly, a bridle. Kassie landed her eyes on the round pen, and clucked Envy forwards. He walked over, yet he wasnt calm, but a bit antsy. He had a bounce in his walk, and bobbed his head excitedly. They got to the round pen, and Kassie hopped down off his spotted back. She kissed his nose before opening the pen door and walking inside. She unclipped his halter and let him go. She clapped her hands, and the stallion began to trot. His tail plumbed like an Arab, his neck arched.
So far, Kassie had only taught him to shake hands, which was simple. She just tapped him twice on the back of the leg, and he lifted his hoof up, right into Kassie's hand. She had also began teaching the simple steps are haute ecole, which only the horses of Vienna got taught. But, in her own way, she had started working on the piaffe.
Envy kept trotting around and around, and Kassie never let the horse stop. She had brought two lunge whips with her, and she picked them off the sandy ground. Kassie held one of them behind the stallions rump, and the other in front of his chest. She bobbed them up and down, telling him to go, but aswell to stop because of the one in front of him. He seemed confused, trying to canter away, and then to back up. Come on buddy, you can do it. Kassie said. Envy hadnt gotten the piaffe yet, but she didnt give up. Suddenly, the stallion began to trot on the spot, a nice, rythemic beat on the sandy floor. Kassie's face was broken with a huge smile. She watched the horse hop on the spot. He snorted and shook his great head before stopping and coming to Kassie.
Kassie enveloped him in a huge bear hug, and kissed his big cheeks. Good boy! she praised, handing him a sugar cube from her pocket. Envy snuffed it up and crunched twice before rubbing his head against her shirt. Silly man. She said. She looked at his slightly dirty coat, and frowned. The caramel spots were a bit darker than usual, and the white splashes seemed a bit green from rolling in the grass. A good brush would do him good. [glow=red,2,300] Word Count; five oh seven. Ryan got to the barn and he got out and grabbed his halter from his tool box in the bed of his truck. He walked out to the small pasture he was renting for his two mares and his gelding. The two stud horses were in the barn locked up. He walked out and of course his mares came up to him. One being a palomino paint filly named Lady. She was something else. She was going to be a great horse for roping or just goofing off. And the second mare being a bay paint mare named Nikkie. This mare was nice, but sometimes unpredictable. She definately wasn't a rope horse. But he had her to just go on pleasure rides around the barn. But the horse he wanted didn't come up to him. Wasn't that the way it goes? Dude, his buckskin quarter horse gelding was just watching them as he ate.
Ryan gave a chuckle and walked out to him, the girls staying where they were and started to eat. "Dude, come here." he said and walked up to the horse and put the halter on his face. "Godo boy." He told the gelding. The gelding was his oldest horse. The horse and put him through high school rodeo and through some other circuits. Now he was kind of just retired and was to only do a few jackpots here and there. He walked the horse from the paddock and started toward the barn. But caught glimpse of a woman in a round pen.
She was blonde and had a beautiful body. Ryan looked to Dude and grinned. 'Hmm, I think I have another girl on my hands." he said and chuckled a little. The horse was a palomino horse and he saw him trot in place or something like that. He smiled, she must have taught him some tricks. And just when he was going to sneak up, Dude blew his cover. Dude whinnied loudly toward the horse in the round pen. Ryan rolled his eyes, "Thanks." He whispered and walked to the round pen. "Nice looking horse you got there." He told the girl when he got there. He just smiled and waited for a reply.

Kassie was so proud when the stallion had done the piaffe. She patted him softly and kissed his nose with love. Envy just pricked his ears and snuffed at her blonde hair, causing it to part a funny way. Suddenly, from beside them, she heard a loud whinny. She looked up to see a guy standing with his horse, who was very good looking. Kinda like this guy... She smiled when he said, "Nice looking horse you have there." Kassie walked over to the fence and rested her head on her hands and smiled. Envy trotted over and pushed his nose through the gate to sniff at the gelding on the other side. "Thanks." she replied, tucking her hair back to normal. She patted Envy then gestured to his horse. "He's not too shabby either." Kassie looked at her stallion. "This is Envy. And I'm Kassandra. You can call me Kassie." She took hold of Envy's halter and clipped a lead line to the clip and opened the pen door. She stepped out of the round pen and stood in front of the guy and his horse. "And you are?" She just smiled back at him. She looked at him and took in his short brown hair and nice eyes. He was so hot. She couldnt belive her luck. She wasnt usually the kind to attract cute guys. She had been called ugly many times. She didn’t think she was that pretty. But some people might have different opinions. Kassie thought. She twined her fingers in Envy's white mane and waited for him to reply.

"Thanks. He's not too shabby either." She told Ryan and pointed toward Dude. Dude was a social creature and he had leaned over a bit to sniff the horse through the fence. Dude nickered and then Ryan pulled Dude back away from the horse so they wouldn't squeal and strike. He didn't think Dude would but he didn't want anyone hurt. Especially not the pretty girl infront of him. She introduced herself and her horse. This is Envy. And I'm Kassandra. You can call me Kassie." She told him and he smiled. "Nice to meet you."
About the time he was going to say who he was, she asked. "And you are?" He chuckled a little bit and looked at her while she brought her horse out. Dude bobbed his head up and down and Ryan backed him up so he wasn't being a pain. "I'm Ryan. I don't have a nickname.. uhh this is Dude." He told her and patted Dude's neck. Dude nickered and bobbed his head up and down as in saying nice to meet you. Ryan laughed, the horse had personality. You would never know the horse was like twelve and a retired rope horse would you? Ryan couldn't.
Ok, well Kassie was a trick riding type girl, he could tell. That was alot different from his rodeo career. I mean could you see a bull rider and roper dating a trick riding girl? Well, maybe but it would be hard. But Ryan was all for taking chances. Personality was what you looked for right? Oh and looks. Well, so far she had both. And he was liking her already. But he decided to take his time this time and not rush into anything unless she asked for it verbally or physically if you know what I mean.

Kassie giggled when Ryan’s horse, Dude bobbed his head and nickered in a hello. She stepped forward, keeping Envy’s lead line slack to stroke his pretty black face. Envy stood rooted to the spot, knowing it was rude to walk before being told. She was surprised that Envy didn’t squeal or nip at the other horse, seeing as Envy was a stallion. And a young one too. She just smiled and put her hand back on his black and white mane. The tobiano really needed a brush now. Kassie pulled her long blonde hair out of its ponytail and shook it lightly, letting it settle over her shoulders. Better. She turned back to Ryan. “Well, um, I have to go brush this beast,” she said, smiling at her horse. Envy bobbed his head. “Maybe we could hang out, or something? Go get a drink after?”She hoped she didn’t sound stupid. She kicked a stone with her boot and smiled up at Ryan. The last thing she wanted was to be turned down. No one liked being rejected. Kassie stroked the caramel splash on Envy’s shoulder. He turned his head and snuffed her hair again. She kissed his nose and then started fidgeting with her hair. “But you know, if you’re busy or something, we could always go some other time...” she trailed off. She defiantly felt stupid. She never really asked guys out. She hung out with guys more than girls, she usually felt fine around them. But asking someone out was always a little challenging. Especially when you didn’t know them. Or if you were just passing by at a horse barn. She looked back up at him, into his eyes and hoped that his reply would be in her favour.

“Well, um, I have to go brush this beast,” she said after she let her hair down. Ok, Ryan was a sucker for girls with long hair. This was going to be fun to keep himself under control. But he knew he could do it, and he would. He looked at her beautiful black and white stud hosre. "Ok..." He said and she began to speak again. “Maybe we could hang out, or something? Go get a drink after?” She asked him and he smiled brightly. No way in hell was he going to turn her down.
“But you know, if you’re busy or something, we could always go some other time...” She quickly added after a pause of silence inbetween. "Sounds like a plan. Whenever is good with me." he said letting his australian accent slip a little bit toward the end. He smiled, not caring about his accent. He was pretty darn excited at the moment. He was going to ask her to go do something but she had beat him to it. It was alright though. But he was not liking that he was a bit shy. He usually wasn't like this but it seemed like after the last few girls he had liked had kind of ditched him and destroyed his confidence alot.
Ryan looked at her horse then to Dude. He started to walk toward the barn to get Dude brushed so he could ride him a little bit. He looked back to see if she was following. "You know, I have two paint horses of my own." He told her. "I have a bay and a palomino." He said and smiled. The bay was a knuckle head and was only really used for pleasure riding and trail riding. But he woudl take her to the occasional rodeo and rope on her. The palomino was the foal out of the bay and was in training to rope.

Kassandra was happy when he had said that he would go for a drink with her. She smiled at Ryan and nodded. “Okay. Well, Im not doing anything today, or like, really any other day for that matter.” She said. And it was true. All she usually did was ride or stay at her house. She smiled more when what sounded like an Australian accent came into his words. She loved Australian accents. Ryan started walking away, and she took a step or two forward before he turned and looked at her again. He stated“You know, I have two paint horses of my own.”. “I have a bay and a palomino.”Kassie giggled. “That’s awesome.” She said, her grin was even bigger. “I was thinking of buying another horse. But I’m not so sure yet. I haven’t found the perfect one, you know?” she said, following him. She came up beside him, so that she wasn’t walking behind Dude. Envy pranced along happily, seeming to feel the good mood of his handler. Kassie was pleasantly happy with her horse at the moment. He wasn’t acting like a total idiot by showing off his stallion-self. She patted him and Envy bobbed his head. “I was thinking maybe a Quarter Horse mare, or something?” she continued, glad she was able to walk beside him and Envy was behaving himself. “Probably just for western pleasure.” She looked at him to see what he would say. She pushed some of her blonde hair out of her face and breathed in the smell of hay and horse as they neared the barn. She pulled back a little, to let Ryan and Dude enter first, they would be inside the barn in a few more minutes.

“Okay. Well, Im not doing anything today, or like, really any other day for that matter.” She told him and he smiled to her. He really didnt have much to do either. He was just going to ride Dude and then be done for the day because he was taking Nickie, Lady, and Blue to the rodeo tomorrow. And all his stuff was packed because he kept all his tack and stuff in his trailer, which was in the parking lot. Except for a small tack box by his stud horses stall where there was an old saddle, saddle blanket, brushes and some splint boots. "Same here. Just gonna give Dude some exercise."
She said that it was awesome that he had a couple paint horses. “I was thinking of buying another horse. But I’m not so sure yet. I haven’t found the perfect one, you know?” She started to tel him. He smiled and nodded. He knew how much time that took to find that perfect horse. Sometimes you just had to get a cheap horse and deal with it. That's what Ryan did. All the horses he had now were cheap and either abused or abandoned...or not wanted. He never got the expensive horses. "I know what you mean."
She caught up to him and walked beside him and Dude. Dude just kind of ignored the other horse beside him as they walked into teh barn. “I was thinking maybe a Quarter Horse mare, or something?” She said. He nodded and smiled. "Ya? Quarter horses are good. I have Dude, Doc which is my black stud horse right there in that stall, and I have Blue my blue roan two year old. " He told her and smiled. He really needed to get rid of one, but they were like family to him. “Probably just for western pleasure.” She added. He smiled to her and tied Dude up by Doc's stall and got into his tack box. "Dude could be your horse." He told her and smiled a little. He wouldn't sell him though, but she could use him all she wanted to.
He took a brush and started to brush Dude off then he untied the horse and walked him into the arena inside. He tied the end of the lead rope to his halter and slipped the loop over his head. He swung on the horse bareback and patted the horses neck. "Good boy." He told him and moved the horse into a trot. The horse was twelve but you couldn't tell. Ryan collected the horse, and for some horses that was hard with a halter, but Dude was good at it. Ryan sat deep on the horses back and let the horse trot along. Then he pulled back a bit and tapped his sides to keep him collected. The horse moved into a western pleasure jog and kept collected when Ryan let the reins loose.

"Ya? Quarter horses are good. I have Dude, Doc which is my black stud horse right there in that stall, and I have Blue my blue roan two year old."Ryan said. Kassie nodded. “That’s awesome.” She smiled. Awesome? Oh yeah, Kassie, real cool. She shrugged to herself as Ryan added, "Dude could be your horse." Kassie smiled. “Yeah that would be cool. I’d love to try him out.” She said, looking at Dude. The black horse looked like a real sweetheart with Ryan.
Kassie tied Envy in the cross ties when they went into the barn and got his brushes from the tack room. As she brushed his dirty multicoloured coat, she spoke up. “So, um, do you wanna like go to the Diner or something?” she asked. She didn’t really care where they went. “Or, we could go to the Club?” She could defiantly go for some alcohol at the moment. She smiled. “We could be bad and drink something alcoholic?" she teased. Envy sighed and closed his eyes as Kassie rubbed his neck with the curry comb. He always loved it when she did his neck. It was like his soft spot. She smiled and rubbed some more. As she brushed Envy, Ryan got Dude ready to ride, before going to the arena. “Might as well give you special treatment while Ryan rides, eh buddy?” she said to him. Envy just snorted. She laughed and kept rubbing him down.
She worked slowly as Ryan rode. She curried, body brushed before picking his hooves well. Then she coated them with a protective coat of hoof paint. Envy had once been in the field and had cracked his hoof really bad, so now Kassie made sure he had a coat of paint on every day. She smiled at he stood still as she painted. She finished by combing his long mane, before looking at it critically. “I think we should cut this.” She said. The mane was unbelievably long at the moment, from not cutting it for a really long time. She grabbed the scissors out of her tack box and set to work. She finished with using the thinning scissors and thinning his mane. Then she worked on his tail, which was close to trailing on the ground. Kassie finished and clipped his lead rope and put him in the stall for the night. She tossed him two flakes of hay and put in a new salt lick, with new water. She kissed his nose and closed the stall. Ryan wouldn’t take to much longer, so she went into the tack room and pulled out her bag, where there was a ham sandwich. She pulled it out and sat in her tack trunk, eating as she waited for Ryan.

“Yeah that would be cool. I’d love to try him out.” She tolt him. He smiled a little. Dude would be a perfect show horse. Ryan just wasn't into showing or anything so he never really tried. But the buckskin was talented there was no doubt about it. "You should." Was he said.“So, um, do you wanna like go to the Diner or something?” she asked him and he smiled to her. As he brushed Dude he replied. "Sure. Diner sounds good."
Ryan had worked Dude lightly. Just mostly trotting and some loping. Just to get his muscles loose so he wouldn't get bunched up over the weekend while he was gone. Ryan looked at the gate and didn't see Kassie. He figured he would, but I guess she was still busy with her horse. Dude was a very talented horse and he would do good if she wanted to show him, but she couldn't have him. Dude was one of the best horses Ryan had ever had. And because Ryan loved him, he was retiring him from roping professionaly to just every now and then. Roping was hard on a horse, and Ryan didn't want that for the horse.
He finished and slip off the horses back and untied his lead and draped it over his own shoulder. "Good boy." He told him and rubbed the geldings neck. He walked out of the arena and back to where Doc, his black stud horse was. He dropped the lead rope, and Dude stood ground tied. Ryan took out a brush from his tack box and brushed Dude off and smiled. He took him to his stall next to Doc and let him go. Dude was only let out when Ryan was around, so while he was going to be gone he kept him indoors. He put his brush back and locked it then he saw Kassie. He smiled. "You ready?" He asked and brushed off his pants.

When Ryan came in from riding Dude, Kassie smiled at him.
“You ready?” he asked, dusting off his pants. “Yup,” she said, hopping off her tack trunk. She pulled her hair back up into a ponytail. “So, Diner it is?” she asked, looking up at him. She could defiantly go for a chocolate milk right now. Kassie felt like a pale white kid as she walked beside him. His tan arms made her feel more like an albino. She giggled to herself. They left the barn, coming back out into the warm sunshine. She sighed and smiled, catching a glimpse of two mares chasing each other around the paddock like a pair of fillies. “Hmm, maybe a foal would be a good idea to buy. You know, like being able to train the horse myself?” she said, prying her eyes off the horses to look back at Ryan. “That would be pretty cool.” She would like to be able to train her own horse. It would be an experience. She had trained Envy, and she thought he was pretty damn good. She smiled to herself. When they reached the cars, she looked at him. “So, um, I guess Ill just meet you at the diner?” she asked. She walked over to her car, opened the door and looked at him, waiting for his reply.
[[ooc: we can just continue this at the diner, after your post.]]

“Hmm, maybe a foal would be a good idea to buy. You know, like being able to train the horse myself?” He nodded. That was always a good idea. He had started weanlings a couple times. They usually ended up teh best horses. Bu it all depended. “So, um, I guess Ill just meet you at the diner?” He smiled and nodded to her. Sounds good to me. He said feeling kinda untalkative for a moment. But that would change. He smiled to her.
He got into his somewhat jacked up red dodge cummins. He got in and drove to teh diner. He parked where most people didnt so it wasn't a pain to get out or a pain for others to get around him in teh truck. He got out and locked it and stuck his keys in his pocket and made sure he had his wallet. He looked around and waited for her. He had the urge to smoke, but he decided against it for now. ... well.. ok he would. He took out a cigarette from his truck after walking back and lit it and locked his truck back up.
He leaned against his truck adn smoked it rather quickly. Then he stomped the butt out seeing her car pull in. He didnt' care if he smelt liek smoke. If she didnt' like it then so be it. See if he cared. He walked toward her car to walk her inside. He watched her. She was a beautiful thing that was for sure. But he highly doubted this relationship would last.. just like all the others. HE was starting to think negative lately.. maybe she would be differnet though.
