Shane Hollman Word Count:499 Character status:Single Post Status:Open to anyone that would like to join! ____________________________________ So this was how he was going to learn. Ok, so he did not know much about riding horses, or just horses in general, but at least he was giving and effort right? He did know how to put a saddle on luckily, and deal with the bit. He had practiced that before with his aunt before he left. Riding on the other hand, well that was a different story.
Today he had on his regular blue jeans, along with a black tank top. Sports where his thing so he was defiantly in shape, which you could see through the tank top. It was about mid afternoon, so it was kinda hot out. Shane liked the hot weather, though it was defiantly not the same as Miami.
Twister followed Shane obediently to the practice arena. Shane had ridden him only once or twice, but did a lot of ground work with him. The people Shane bought him from said he was a bomb proof horse, with on the ground he was. Shane had not ridden him enough to see if he was as good as they said he was, but he was about to get his chance. Shane led the horse into the arena, shutting the gate behind him. He had to go through the check list in his head. Check the girth, gather the reins...
He finished his check list and then mounted up on the gelding. He was defiantly not use to riding, but he was going to need to get use to it. Twister luckily stood still as he struggled to get on, but once on he made himself comfortable. He called this exercise self teaching, and it was defiantly the right name for it.
Shane took a deep breath and took his reins in his hands. "ok boy, lets do this." Shane lightly tapped his leg into the horses side and off they where, walking around the arena. After a couple laps Shane settled into the saddle, which made him think he was ready for the higher speed. Big mistake. As Shane tapped his legs, Twister did as he was told and started trotting. The problem...Shane could not stay on. Twister did not have the smoothest gait in the world, and Shane had no balance on a horse yet. The mixture of all this put together? Shane slid off the side of the saddle, landing on his back in the dirt. Air escaped his chest as she landed, looking up at the sunny sky.
Shane laid there for a min, laughing to himself. He then looked around for his horse. Twister stood a few feet from him, ears perked looking at Shane with the famous 'What are you doing down there' look. Shane laughed and stood up, ready to try it all over again. He paid no attention to the thought of people watching. He figured if they where watching, they where probably laughing.

TOP DOWN IN THE SUMMER SUN the day we met was like a hit and run
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --Sometimes it took forever to realize if you loved someone. Sometimes, it only took a few minutes. But, today, she was very skeptical about loving anyone at all. I mean, her family was great, but sometimes they just really got on her nerve. Call after call after call, "just checking in", all of that stuff. It was so annoying and made her feel like she was a child. She was nineteen, for crying out loud. She was very much mature enough to handle her budget and problems. And her mother knew that. Yet, she still had to call even if nothing in the world was wrong. Don't you just love them?
--Groaning at the sight of the missed call button on her phone, the curly-haired girl continued to groom her horse rather calmly, despite the fact of the angriness inside. She had been at Pinewood for a good three months now, and had pretty much figured out everything there is to know. Current relationships, mean and nice people, and her favorite, most of the horses and their riders. She felt her grulla mare shift weight beneath her hand and patted her, letting her know she was doing good. Moon wasn't the best kids horse, but she could be the most down to earth and calm horse you would ever see. That's what Taylor liked about her; she was willing to learn and very forgiving. You would probably never meet another Quarter horse like her. As she finished up the soft brush, she sprayed the horse with some coat conditioner and then some fly spray, ready for a sweltering ride out in the sun. Leading the horse out after she had saddled her, Moon's ears pricked as Taylor's gaze led to a man and his horse, riding around outside. He seemed to be having a hesitant time, but she saw that a lot, for she had given lessons to a lot of people when she worked at her old barn. She opened the gate, led her horse in, then shut it and locked. When she glanced over again, something had definitely changed.
--It happened very quickly. The horse trotted, the man fell of with a thud. He didn't seem to be bothered or anything, which was good. It was embarrassing though, falling off a horse at only a trot, but she had had her share of embarrassing moments with horses. Trust me. So, with that instinct to see what happened, The girl tied Moon's black lead rope to a fence post, walking toward him, calmly. She decided to grab his horse for him, which she did, so that the horse didn't go over to Moon and start a riot. Then, she came over to the man, soft teal colored eyes looking at him with concern. "You didn't seem to be too bothered about that.."
A perfect, small laugh escaped her lips; not about what had happened, but by this man's non-caring attitude about it. She kind of admired it, actually. If only being bothered didn't exist. [/blockquote][/blockquote] -------------------------------------------------------------------- WORD COUNT 539 TAGGED shane LYRICS BY boys like girls NOTES i'll try to reply as much as i can, but just warning you there might be a few breaks sometimes! sorry! Shane Hollman Word Count:314 Character status:Single Post Status:Shane and Taylor ____________________________________ Shane laid on the ground, looking up at the sky. He figured with trying to learn to ride meant falling off a lot, especially without an instructor. That was all the fun part though, trying to teach yourself. He sat up and put his elbow on his knee. Sighing, he looked over at his horse, who was just standing there staring at him. He looked up again at the sky, the sun making it hot. He then stood seeing how much dirt was on him. A Black shirt and brown dirt don't mix well. He took his hands and started to brush himself off.
He had yet to notice a girl had come into the arena. He figured he would meet someone out here on one of his adventures someday, but today was unexpected. He turned to go back to his horse when he saw a blonde girl holding his reins. It startled him a first, then he just laughed a little. Just his luck to have a pretty girl watch him fall off.
He brushed himself off once more then walked over to the horse, hearing the girls voice. He laughed slightly and smiled. "I've played football. You get use to hitting the ground." He patted Twister's neck, the horse letting out a big sigh. "Plus its all part of the learning experience right? Everyones got to learn to hit the ground while running, or in this case trotting."
He knew it must have been a sad sight to see someone fall off at that slow of gait. He just laughed it off. He then gently took the reins from the girl, keeping a smile on his face. "I'm Shane by the way." He smiled and was about to hold out his hand to shake, but soon decided against it when he realized how dirty they where from the dirt.

TOP DOWN IN THE SUMMER SUN the day we met was like a hit and run
-------------------------------------------------------------------- --Taylor smiled sweetly as this boy stood up, grabbing his horse as she handed him over. Giving the horse a pat, she listened intently at his explanation. [color=ff1144"I've played football. You get use to hitting the ground."
[/s] The girl laughed, turquoise eyes glinting in the summer sun. "Plus its all part of the learning experience right? Everyones got to learn to hit the ground while running, or in this case trotting."[/s] Her mouth closed in a smile, Taylor spoke up again. "Yeah, you're right. You should've seen me when I first started riding. Not so pretty!" She replied, laughing a little more. There was something about this boy that made her want to know everything about him. It was weird, but so strangely true. Putting up her side bags with a sweep of her hand and the release of a bobby pin, Taylor quickly looked up as the boy said more. --"I'm Shane, by the way."[/s] Taylor nodded, watching as he hesitated to shake her hand. It was pretty gritty, but Taylor caught it anyway, shaking it. She wasn't afraid of dirt; not at all. So, with that, Taylor smiled, replying with not a crack in her smooth voice. "I'm Taylor. Taylor Grenfeld." After a moment of pause, Taylor motioned toward her horse, and ran off to get her. She came back with the grulla mare's lead in her hand, making sure Moon wasn't too close to his horse. With a quick smile, she quickly put the bit in the horses mouth, latching the chin strap under the horse's jaw. She was using an O-ring today; she would save the curb for a week before she showed. --With With a quick swing of her leg, she was in the western saddle, getting her reins set. She sat there a bit, Moon chewing the bit a little in her mouth before knowing that Taylor meant business. And with a nudge of her heel, she asked the mare to go, and she did so. walking in circles around Shane, she asked the horse to bring in her head a few times to make it supple. Then she stopped, hoping Shane would mount and ride a little bit with her. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ------------------------------------------------------------ WORD COUNT 390 TAGGED shane LYRICS BY boys like girls NOTES i'll try to reply as much as i can, but just warning you there might be a few breaks sometimes! sorry! Shane Hollman Word Count:344 Character status:single Post Status:Taylor and Shane ____________________________________ Shane smiled as the girl laughed about his football explanation. He was never good at football, so usually he was the one on his back. Basketball was his thing, never challenge him to one on one. He smiled as he heard her talk. "Yea, well im sure what you just saw wasn't pretty." He just had to laugh at himself. He would get there eventually.
Shane was surprised she caught his hand, shaking it gently. He smiled as she said her name. "Nice to meet you Taylor." He watched as she went and got her horse. He couldn't put his finger on it, but this girl was interesting to him. He has met many girls, but something about her made him feel different. He had his reins in his hand, watching as the girl bridled her horse up. The horse was very good looking, though he could not tell you what color it was.
He saw she was getting on her horse, and thought he should to that. He put the reins back over the horses neck and walked to the side of the horse. Twister stood, not in any hurry to go anywhere. Shane put his foot in the stirrup and swung up into the saddle. This he had practice at. He watched as Taylor moved around his horse. He kinda felt stupid for just sitting there, but it was interesting what she was doing with her horse. Must he a more experience thing. "Whats that for?" he was referring to the head thing he saw. he then started to walk along the rail once she stopped, wondering if she was going to follow.
Twister just walked along the rain, hanging his head like he was so abused. He wasn't though, Shane took good care of him. He was happy he had such a patient horse, falling off all the time. He loved his back legs, they looked like twisters running up his leg. His chestnut coat was nice a clean, though Shane had not given him a bath yet.
