--------------------------------------- there's a fire inside of you THAT CAN'T HELP BUT SHINE THROUGH --------------------------------------- Gabby smiled as she watched Jason ride the chestnut colt, getting him to move gracefully along. She soon asked Duke to walk, cooling him off a little more. She did some bending and softening to the point where even the slightest touch of the rein he would swing his head around or bring it down. He really was a great horse, and Jason's next comment proved it. "Ya, he's pretty much dead broke." [/s] The girl nodded, smiling. "I can tell!" Stopping and patting Duke, she took him to the center of the arena to watch Jason ride the chestnut. Jason took the colt and trotted him around her, Gabby smiling and giggling a little bit. "He's doing good. He is gonna get hunched backed when I move him into a lope though."[/s] Jason said in reply to her question. Gabby put a more serious face on her and replied, "Oh... well, do what you need to do to do it and keep on it." Gabby watched as Jason move the colt into a lope, seeing buck a little bit. Gabby wasn't scared or worried about Jason; she knew that he would stick it. And, in fact, he did and soon got him into a lope. While he was loping, Gabby got the sudden urge to do so. So, with that, she asked Duke to walk on the rail. Thinking this horse would know how to do a walk-lope transition, she asked him to, pressing her outside leg and shifting her weight in the saddle so he would. Soon, Duke was loping along for her, almost as slow as Twilight. If only she could steal this horse. (((joke intended))) Jason soon came to the center where she was, watching her lope. She rode it for another lap then walked him towards Jason, and she heard his comment. "Thanks... it's hard not to look good on this horse!" Gabby laughed, then patted Duke on his neck before giving a sigh of contentment and dismounting, leading him to his halter. After she put it on, she looked at Jason for a second or two then tied him up, taking the saddle and the two pads off of his back. He was pretty sweaty so she led him in the arena again, walking him around for five minutes. After feeling that his chest wasn't boiling like it was before, she led Duke out and put him back. Then she turned to Jason, awaiting what to do next. Jason watched her and Duke. Gabby seemed a little nervous. Not alot though, just a little bit. She was acting like he might be a youngster that might buck her off. But Duke wasn't to young. He was around eleven years old. So he had been ridable for nine years. And when he was three he was roping at every rodeo Jason went to. The horse was broke by the time he was five. "I can tell!" She told him when he told her that Duke was pretty much broke. He smiled watching the buckskin paint gelding work with her bend and flex as asked. The horse was really soft in the mouth and if she were to just let him go, it would come natural to him to keep his head bended. But he would just let her get use to him before he nagged at her.
"Oh... well, do what you need to do to do it and keep on it." Jason was trotting around and he told her that his horse was going to try to buck and he loped off and sure enough it did. Jason of course just stuck to it and the colt quit. He loped a few circles then a few rounds and came back to teh middle to stand. He watched her and Duke. She walked him to teh rail then kicked him into a lope from a walk. Duke moved into a lope, his head immediately bending and lifting his shoulders up as he did so. The horse naturally collected himself at a lope. Duke coudl easily be shown in horse shows, but Jason wasn't into that kind of stuff. Gabby could take him if she really wanted to though.
"Thanks... it's hard not to look good on this horse!" She said and he laughed and shook his head. "Some people don't know enough to look good on him though." He told her and then they had gotten off and went to the barn and untacked their horses and cooled them off. THen put them away. Duke stood in his stall quietly, munching on his left over food he had in his feeder. Jason put his colt away and walked back to her.
"Well, it's lunch time. You want to go with me to the diner?" He asked her. "I will pay." He said grinning and grabbed his keys and looked at her, waiting for a reply. He finally just took her hand and took her with him to his truck. He opened the passenger door for her and helped her in. Then got in the drivers side and started his truck. He drove to the diner rather quietly. He got there and got out and helped her out then locked his truck and put the keys in his pocket. As he walked in with her he looked to her and smiled. "If you really wanted to, you could take Duke to some horse shows. He is kind of a retired rope horse now." He told her and put his arm around her waist to show everyone in there that she was his.
[[you can start a post at the diner if you want. ]]

--------------------------------------- it's the way you do the things you do IT MAKES ME FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU --------------------------------------- As Duke finished loping perfectly for her, she came to the middle and had told Jason that anyone could look good on him. She was, apparently, mistaken. "Some people don't know enough to look good on him though." [/s] Gabby considered that and nodded, taking Duke out of the ring, untacking, grooming, and putting him in his stall. Jason had put his colt away and was now walking towards her, Gabby knowing what was coming next. "Well, it's lunch time. You want to go with me to the diner?"[/s] He asked while Gabby grinned. "I will pay."[/s] But, before she could even say a word, Jason had grabbed her hand and was taking her to the truck, Gabby smiled, laughing a little bit. She couldn't wait. As they got to the truck, Jason opened the passenger door for her and she climbed in, sinking into the seat. It was great to relax for once and just sit. Gabby watched as Jason emerged from walking around the truck, and he opened the door, inserted the key and left the stable. She swiped a few glances at him throughout the ride, but otherwise it was quiet in the truck. She had nothing to say. But, man, she was falling head over heels for this boy. As they neared the diner and merged into town, she watched as people window shopped outside, kids licked their dripping ice cream cones on benches, and lovers sat in coffee shops and in the park discussing life with each other. Gabby smiled. It was a perfect day to do all of the above, and the perfect weather. The sky was a clear blue with white, puffy clouds floating in and out of view. The sun was shining, and the air was a nice temperature with a slight wind to keep things cool. It was the kind of day you would see behind a Barbie doll or in a photo shoot. Just stunning. But, soon, they were parked outside Bluebird Diner and were ready to go eat some lunch. Gabby smiled as they went through the door, Jason's arm secured around Gabby's waist. She looked around, head up a little, looking around for an open booth. But, her search was interrupted when Jason spoke. "If you really wanted to, you could take Duke to some horse shows. He is kind of a retired rope horse now."[/s] Gabby just stared at him, a shocked expression on her face. "Seriously? You'd let me?" Gabby raised her eyebrows for a minute, then laughed. She spotted an open booth, finally. It was pretty crowded in here. She motioned for Jason to follow her, and Gabby slipped into the booth, smiling. The cool cushion felt nice on her warm body, for sure. Putting her hair behind her ears, she rested her head back, her long brown hair falling everywhere. The sun's rays hit her, and she was warmed at just the right temperature as she sunk deeper into the seat. Boy, did she feel like a nap. Yet, she really wanted food more than a nap at this moment. Jason was the kind to stay quiet while driving. For one, he had been in a few car accidents while talking to someone and he learned to just stay tuned to the road and keep his eyes looking at cars around him. He didn't mean to be rude while driving but that was just the way he was. He concentrated just like he did on horses, when riding he hardly talked unless he was on a broke horse or just standing.
They got inside the diner and he looked around and told her that she could show him if she wanted to. "Seriously? You'd let me?" She asked. He laughed and nodded. 'I'm serious." He told her and had his arm around her waist as she led them toward a booth. He sat down across from her and grinned. He looked aroudn then looked at teh menu. He couldn't decide what he wanted. He rubbed his face gently and finally set the menu down figuring a chicken fried steak sounded good.
Soon the waitress was there and he ordered and let her order. After the waitress left he looked to Gabby. "So, I wanted to ask you a question." He said and he looked at her and smiled a little. "Would you go out with me? Like as girlfriend and boyfriend?" He asks and waited for her reply. He hoped she would say yes. He really liked her alot. He knew for some reason that she would be the one for him. They had so many similarities. He knew they would be good together.
