After a long, long day of wedding related events, Charlie was more than ready to get home and not have to think about that sort of thing anymore. He'd interviewed about 30 wedding planners in the past three days, and he was incredibly ready to be done with it. He was finally starting to understand why planning a wedding was so stressful. Most people had a mom and dad to help with this stuff, but he'd never heard Hayley mention her parents, and he'd lost contact with his family a few years ago, why? Long story, and I don't feel like telling it at the moment.
Charlie walked wearily into the house, and was greeted by an overly excited German Shepherd who looked incredibly happy to see him. Sorry Jig, He said, patting the dog's shoulders, No walk today. He had come home later than usual, about 9:00 and he was just ready to go relax. He trudged up the stairs and went down the hall towards his bedroom. When he walked past Hayley's door, he didn't even look in to see if she was there. He knew she was, probably talking to Chey or someone online. Of course, if he'd bothered to go in there, he would have been quite surprised and most likely embarrassed, to find Hayley talking about some stranger on how she could get Charlie to have sex with her.
He would have liked to just flake out on the bed and go to sleep right then and there, but he decided against it. Instead, he walked into the room, not bothering to shut the door, Hayley'd seen him plenty of times in only his boxers and a t-shirt, considering that was what he slept in; pulled his shoes, socks, jeans, and black dress shirt; and basically got himself completely ready for bed. He'd slept plenty of times in full clothing and he knew how incredibly uncomfortable it was, so it was the boxers and T for him.
He tossed the dirty clothes into the laundry hamper, and headed for the bed. Sure he was a bachelor, but not all bachelors were slobs, he always kept his place tidy, and his bedroom was no exception. This done, he pulled back the sheets, and basically collapsed onto the bed. Charlie rolled over so that he was sort of half on his side and half on his stomach, his back to the door, and lay awake for a few minutes going over everything that had happened today. It was an old habit he'd developed a long time ago that he couldn't get rid of. Unless he went over everything in his head, he'd be up all night. Normally he was a night owl and didn't go to bed until about 3:00 am, so as much as he wanted to, he was finding it difficult to actually close his eyes and go to sleep.
