I am
Sabrina is extremely trusting of people. She firmly believes in giving people a chance. This mainly derives from the fact that as a kid and teenager people have misjudged her due to being deaf. She has a habit of putting her faith and trust in people, which has at times, proven fatal. Each time she has bounced back without it having too much of an effect upon her.
Sabrina can talk about her deafness without too much trouble. She is quite and open person and fairly easy to get along with. She very rarely makes first judgments about some via their appearance; she has learnt that from personal experiences when people have treated her badly when they find out about her disabilities.
She stands up for what she believes. If she doesn't like how she is being treated or is she sees something which she disapproves of, she is not afraid to speak her mind. She feels that she can make a difference and change the worlds opinions towards deaf people and how people treat animals. She is very passionate about animal welfare.

This Is Who I was
Sabrina was brought into this world on July 8th 1990. there was complications at birth and it soon emerged that she was deaf in both ears. Her parents had disagreements about her; her biological father wanted to put her up for adoption but her mother wanted to keep her. In the end they parted ways, when he walked out, unable to find the love for his daughter. Sabrina was only 10 days old.
Her mother decided that, as soon as Sabrina turned 4, she should have the right to live a normal life, despite her being deaf. She was taught to be vocal and learnt both sign language and to read lips. These skilled proved invaluable as they are her main ways of communication with other human beings. It was around this time that her mother married Sabrina's step-father, Christopher who is also partially deaf. This helped to build Sabrina's confidence.
Sabrina was often bullied at school. She did have a few good friends who accepted her for who she was. They believed that, although she could not hear them, she was also a fellow human with a fully functioning mind. They were her rocks throughout school life and they helped Sabrina greatly.
It was around her mid-teens that she discovered horse riding. She started riding at the age of 16. She soon became acquainted with the style of riding and the people. She used this as a way in which she could get away from the stress and burdens that came with normal life. She is still a beginner and is not as confident as she would like to be. Her parents discovered her passion for horse riding and found out about Pinewood Stables. With the help and support of her parents, Sabrina applied to become a student at Pinewood Stables.
This Is Who I am Good, but could be better. In need of an escape from normal life.

I Am Awesome
Sabrina stood at the driveway of the Stables, taking in the over powering scent of horses. She allowed her eyes to roll over the scene infront of her, taking in every last detail: the people chatting amicably to each other; the flickering of horses ears and the swish of tails. Sabrina stood watching them all, her stomach knotting up with a mixture of fear and anxiety: she wanted to get out there and meet new people. But most of all she wanted to ride.
The blonde girl felt a comforting hand upon her shoulder. Her head whipped around, her eyes falling upon her best friend, Jack.
"What are you waiting for?" he asked, gesturing towards the entrance to the riding school. "Get in there." Sabrina's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. She felt like her world was cracking around her. She felt like her heart was being ripped out of her chest and torn into pieces. She wanted to go but she didn't want to leave behind the world she had become accustomed to. She didn't want to leave Jack.
"I don't know Jack..." she said quietly, her eyes never leaving his face. "I'm scared." She tore her gaze away from him, staring out over the grounds. The silence sounded louder than ever. She longed to hear the calls of the horses and the drumming of the hooves. She longed to hear the sound of laughter and excited chatter. Being deaf had it's drawbacks.
She felt a hand upon her cheek. Sabrina's dark eyes traveled back to Jack's face. They concentrated upon his lips.
"Go there and have some fun. You deserve it." Sabrina blinked furiously, determined not to let the tears overspill. She pulled back from his embrace, looking back at the school building. She took a deep steadying breath.
"I guess I'd best go," she said finally, not meeting Jack's gaze. She backed away, waving awkwardly. "Bye Jack,"she signed with shaking fingers. He smiled back at her before replying.
"Good luck" he signed back.
Sabrina walked up the drive, watching the other students milling around in their own little cliques. She looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, jumping slightly at the sight of a horse which towered over her. His ears pricked forwards, alerted to the blonde girl that stood infront of him. Sabrina kept a careful eye contact with him as she backed away from the horse, being careful not to make any sudden movements. Her eyes were drawn to a room which was marked at the office. Well that would make sense she thought to herself, approaching it cautiously. She entered the room, walking up to a desk with a woman standing behind it.
"Hi, my name is Sabrina, I was wondering if you could help me," she said to the woman. "I think I'm supposed to be having a riding lesson, but I don't know where I'm supposed to be."
The woman looked down at her list.
"Sabrina Thomas?" she asked. Sabrina narrowed her eyes.
"I'm sorry, could you repeat that please," she asked. The woman gave her a strange look. "I couldn't see your lips - I'm deaf," she explained, noticing the woman's facial expression. The woman repeated her statement. Sabrina nodded.
"Okay, if you wait outside, we'll go and fetch you your horse and get to sorted out." Sabrina nodded, giving a small smile of thanks.
"Thank you." she said, turning on her heel and striding out of the small room, waiting to be assisted.
Thanks Isa for helping =]
