The land had never been touched, nor seen, by humans. It was a beautiful place, fresh grass, beautiful trees and flowers, it was paradise for the wild equine. They ran in peace with one another over the many hills of the world they knew. They always stuck together, in one big herd. Everything was perfect, till the frighting storms came. Lighting struck down, starting fires, killing innocent creatures. The storms lasted for hours, finally calming down to a slow, steady rain. The horses quickly reunited, shook up from everything.
The cool breeze past, blowing a new scent in their face. They all studied each other, confused about this new smell. Then, from the forest emerged beasts they've never seen before. They looked very much like equine, but had a single horn on the middle of their forehead, and had a lion tail. Three, out of the twenty or so, stepped out from the crowed. The large piebald brute looked at the horses, his golden eyes cold. The other, a beautiful rosy mare with violet eyes, gazed around with a warm and welcoming smile. And the last, a sapphire colt, he gazed at the two on either side of him, then looked around unsure of what to do.
The rose mare called out to them, "We are unicorns from Paisible. We have been brought here by our gods for reasons unknown to us. Please, welcome us with open arms, we are kind," she glared at the piebald brute, he scowled. She continued, announcing their names, then broke up into three sections. The leader of the wild herd was too afraid to step forward and greet himself. The horses just stayed back, except for a few who went out and greeted some.
They learned over the years that the unicorns had a purpose, to ruin their world. The rosey mare was kind hearted and sweet, she welcomed all and looked down on the rude ones. The piebald was cruel and cold, he treated his followers like dirt. And, the sapphire colt, he was in between, not sure which side to follow so he had his own herd. The brute and mare's herd fought regularly, usually arguments, but there was worse. After the tree leaders died, the herds still went on, even more spilt than before.
