Charlie could hardly breathe. The prospect of being a dad terrified him. Sure Chuck called him daddy, but this was different...really different. Hayley was having his baby...his baby. His own flesh and blood. His own DNA. Was he ready for this? Was he ready to be a dad? Could he do this? He was physically strong, mentally strong, and fairly emotionally strong, but was he strong enough for this? His head was pounding with a million thought all at once, so much so that he forgot what he was doing. He didn't realize Sebastian had driven them to the hospital, he didn't realize that they had gone through the emergency room doors. He didn't realize that he was holding Hayley's hand as they brought her into the room and started preparing everything. He was almost in complete shock.
So much had been happening lately, he had almost forgotten that the baby was due in a week. Hayley had dumped him twice and come back to him twice in the past two days, they'd been arguing about everything, Charlie told her he was going to rejoin the police force and she freaked out and said she couldn't love a police man, Hayley was getting all up in Sebastian and Vivian's face...just as a way to smite Tyler with whom he had recently learned she had had Chuck. It was all raining down on his head all at once, and now this...now she was having their baby.
He snapped out of the "trance" he was in and was jerked back into reality quite rudely. He looked over at Hayley, who was now in a bed, and who's hand he had grasped tightly in his. The moment he got out of the trance, his senses came rushing back to him, and he regained control of himself. He calmed down considerably...on the outside. Inwardly he was still a wreck of nerves and was dying from nervous panic. The doctors, thankfully, hadn't noticed how shocked he had been earlier, otherwise they might have kicked him out. He took a deep breath to improve his outward calm, and squeezed Hayley's hand with a weak smile.

Charlie didn't sound like he was all there when Anthony got the call. He was in the middle of working on scheduling for King and Doubt, but as soon as Charlie told him what was going on, he up and left. It would all be on the desk right where he left it when he got home. He wrote Alex a quick note so when she got home she would know where he was, then headed out to the hospital. He didn't speed...exactly. Five over is legal...sort of. Anyway, he got there in one piece and without getting pulled over.
Charlie and Hayley had already gone into the emergency room by then, and Sebastian and Chuck were in the waiting room. Anthony had a feeling that Charlie was a mess. From the way he'd sounded on the phone...and because Anthony just knew Charlie well enough to know that he was probably in complete shock. He sighed and headed over to Chuck and Sebastian, smiling brightly as usual. It was hard to catch Anthony without a smile...especially since the other day...when he proposed to Alex. How they doin'? He asked Sebastian, in that distinct Spanish accent that you would never expect to come out of him if you didn't know him.
He and Charlie and Sebastian had been the three stooges of pinewood for a good many years now, and where one was, there the other two were also almost always. There were as good of friends as was possible. They'd stuck together through drunk fights...which Anthony only watched...dozens of other fights...good times and bad. They'd stuck together through it all, and they weren't going anywhere any time soon, so they'd probably be best friends until the day they all died.
