Anthony knew how excited she was. He couldn't say he'd ever been that excited, but from her reaction to the phone call, he could tell pretty easily. Some people would have been freaked out by the sudden complete turn around of character, but not Anthony. Oh no, there wasn't anything she could do that could possibly freak him out, make him mad, turn him off, or anything negative really. Everything about her did something good for him, he couldn't think of a single negative thing about her. Maybe others could, but he knew he'd find a way to turn that into something positive. Just one more thing love did to him.
Glad to hear that. He said with a smile, I thought for a second there that the world was coming to an end by your reaction. Of course he was kidding. Her reaction had obviously been excitement, not fear or some sort of anger. No, he knew her too well...funny saying that after only knowing her for three weeks. Who would imagine that two people would know each other as well as these two did in such a short time. Time didn't matter though. Two weeks, two years, two life times...it all becomes one and the same when you love somebody.
He wasn't going to lie, her sudden kiss caught him slightly off guard, and she pulled away before he really had time to even react. Still, that half innocent and boyish grin made itself known...again. He knew quite well that she loved him, but he would never get tired of hearing those words come out of her mouth. Of course, he wouldn't get tired of them as long as they were directed at him, anyone else she said those words to...well, lets just say he'd finally get to exercise the ability to beat the crap out of someone taller than him. There was nothing that he could think of that would be worse than her leaving him for someone else. If she died, then she was stolen from him, but if she fell in love with someone else, and left him...that was a whole different story. He probably wouldn't be able to handle it either way, but the second would be worse.
Hardly a moment after she said those three simple words, he put his arms around her middle and pulled her back to him and returned the passionate kiss with one of his own, though he let it linger for a moment longer than she had let hers. He locked his hands together against her back, still holding her close even as he pulled away from the kiss. For a brief time he just looked at her gorgeous blue eyes, completely distracted from the world around him. He was lost almost instantly in the icy blue depths that stared back at him, like a life raft in the middle of a still ocean with no land or rescue withing sight, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
His gaze broke away from hers at the sound of someone scampering away. Go figure, some student would just happen to walk past the stall of the thoroughbred racehorse right when he and Alex were in the middle of letting each other know how much they loved each other. Well, it would be all over Pinewood by the next morning, but he didn't really mind at all. Yeah, he'd been kissing his girlfriend, what of it? He didn't really know anyone around here anyway, so he wasn't concerned. Nevertheless, his innocent smile turned into one of "caught in the act and loving every moment of it."

She hoped he understood what was going on with her. Keke and her were like sisters they had grown up together and her family was family to Alex they were practically living with each other 24/7. Kind of how Anthony and she were now. Course that was a whole different thing. Anthony and Alex were in a total different love then Alex and Keke. Anthony... he was undescribable to her she couldn't find the words to tell you what he meant to her. He was her whole world. But Keke and her relationship as previously stated. They were like sisters. She couldn't wait to see her. She wondered how her career was going. She knew she had been successful at modeling because she was apart of the Victoria Secret girls. But she also wondered if she still raced but to her that was a silly question if she was still anything like how she used to be there was no way she wasn't in racing. But unlike Alex Keke was tall. Obviously, she was a model, she had to be tall. So she never became a jockey. But she still exercised and trained and possibley owned but Alex wasn't sure.
She just giggled at his comment. He was always making her laugh. She was a naturally fun person and he made her even looser. After work he was the onl one she wanted to hang out with or talk to."Oh no if my world was ending you would know trust me it would be obvious." She giggled again. She couldn't help it but thats what happened to her when she was in love... Though she had never had any previous experience in actual what she thought was love. It was usually just attraction heat of the moment and then smothered fire that goes out. no one seemed to fit... But Anthony he fit so perfectly it was almost unbelievable how perfectly he fit together with her. She thought she fit together with him. Well duh!
After she kissed him he gave her that boyish grin of his, that she was pretty sure what first drug her into his little trap. He lurred her in like a fly then set his trap off and she was trapped like a rat never to escape. But she didn't want to escape ever. She wanted to be in trap forever. It was funny she started to think of the poor guy that would hit on her when he looked away and that got the crap beat out of him when he looked back. Anthony may be small but she had a feeling he was the jealous type. She didn't mind though, she liked that he was protective. She had grown up with protective brothers and it made her feel safe. Sure it could get annoying but she felt comfortable with Anthony's jealousy. It was cute. She wasn't easily caught being jealous sure if some slut was grinding on him she wouldn't hesitate to woop their butts into pudding. She as capable of giving some pretty icey glares but it was the stage after that that they should worry about. She didn't fight like a girl lets just put it that way.
Shortly after she finished telling him she loved him, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her further in. He returned her kiss with his own. In her opinion far more passionate then hers had been. But heck he could have slung her down like in one of the movies all romantic like and she wouldn't have cared. A kiss from him was like a thunder and lighning storm for her. It was electric and made her get goose bumps. She obviously kissed him back holding him as close as he could get without her squeezing his guts out. He pulled his head back but still held her close. And they just looked into each others eyes. She smiled. But it wasn't a giddy little girl smile it was a sweet peaceful smile. One that a girl would have after just being kissed by the man she was with. She loved being lost with him. They were so lost in one another it was a miracle they got anything done. She loved him he loved her and nothing in the world could tear her down now. She was in love. Even if work called and told her they completely lost all of her highest grade customers paper work she still couldn't blow a fuse. Not around him.
Suddenly both their attention was stolen by some scamoering no doubt to tell all their friends about how the crazy thoroughbred owners were "making out" in one of the horses stalls. She personally hated gossip. But she had nothing to worry about. Anthony was her boyfriend and she could kiss him in the middle of the english arena infront of the whole class if she wanted to. She had nothing to hide. Plus like she had said she didn't know anyone anyway so who cared. She didn't want it to get over board who knew by next after noon it could be way worse. But even the worst they could say wouldn't effect her. She let her hands place themselves on his shoulders and burried her face in his chest as she giggled, But not before catching his. Me? no i wasn't doing anything innocent look. The one that a little kid got when he was sneaking a cookie out of the cookie jar before dinner. Her face pressed up against his chest she giggled a little more. "Oops, hehe, Wanna bet that by tomorrow when we walk down the aisle people will be whispering and staring?" Girls would be girls though and gossip was going to happen. Luckily for them she was to laid back to care.
Take her back to her sophmore year and it would be a different story but they were adults and in love and if they felt like saying i love you and kissing each other in their own stalls then no one could stop them. Well except maybe King or Loco. But they were different they didn't know that what Alex and Anthony was romantic and such for all they knew they were just talking without saying anything. But for now she had no worries no rush just taking things as they came. She took in a good wiff of him. Though he was sweaty and gross he still managed to smell good it was a guy smell. She wasn't sure if he used any body spray or whatever but he smelt good. A lot of guys smelt good. She sighed peacefully. She didn't want him to stop holding her... as usual. But the best part was. She didn't have to go home alone and work. She got to spend the rest of the evening with him, over dinner. If she had it her way the night would never end. But tomorrow held just as many exciting thing. Moreso even.

Anthony just laughed at her comment. It would be everywhere by morning, and there probably wouldn't be a single soul out there who didn't know. Somehow though, he was okay with that. He loved Alex more than life itself, and if the whole world knew about it, so what? The truth is what it is, and you can't change it. He knew that all too well. After Tristanne had died, he had tried so hard to make it not hurt, to not miss her, to not wish she was still there. But try as he might, he couldn't change it. Every memory of her brought him pain, every moment he missed her, with every breath he took and with every heartbeat, he wished she hadn't died. The truth was what it was, there was no changing it, ever.
They're just jealous, He said the guilty innocence still freshly pained across his face, they want what we've got and know they probably won't ever have it...at least not for a long time. Most kids who had relationships in their younger years never got anywhere with those relationships. Why? Well, first of all...thirteen year olds are not mentally ready or mature enough to actually know what love is all about. Second of all, thirteen year olds can't drive anywhere so dates always have to be chaperoned. And Third of all, they're just kids, and not many kids ever really truly fall in love with each other.
After a few moments he let his arms fall back to his sides, releasing Alex from his embrace. It was about 4:30 now, and he still had to get home and get cleaned up before the two of them went out to dinner. There was no way he was going out there looking like this. First of all...he would never in ten million years go out in public wearing his riding clothes, they were meant for the track and the stable, nowhere else. Second of all, he was filthy, dirt and sweat both. If he went out without a shower, society would shun him for the rest of his life...he'd had enough of that already. And third of all...yeah, he would just never go out in public looking like this.
You taking Loco out tonight? He asked. If she was taking Loco out, he'd change out of his riding clothes and into his jeans and what not and accompany her out there. Then when she was done, he'd head home and get himself cleaned up and then head out. As much as he would have liked to just stand there holding Alex in his arms for the rest of his life, he knew that they had to get going if they were going to accomplish anything. Plus, if Alex was taking Loco out, it was that time. Consistent schedules were important for racehorses considering how delicate they were. It could be dangerous to run them even so much as a half hour off schedule when exercising them.
King had gotten bored with his food, and now turned back to the two humans. He still appeared to be holding a grudge towards Anthony for cutting him out of the "conversation," and sidled around so he was standing sort of behind Alex, and put his head over her shoulder, sighing contentedly. It was an incredible transformation, before, Anthony hardly would have dared to go into his stall, and always refused to let anyone go near him, but now...now Alex was like the second Anthony. He didn't trust strangers just yet, old habits die hard, but Alex...it was like she was a part of Anthony now. Those vibes the horse picked up from Anthony, well, he was picking up the one of love too and he knew that Anthony trusted her with his life, so King would trust her too.

His laugh made her smile he was just too cute. His smile his personality. His boyish glee. His way of talking. His eyes. He was just cute and attractive and she couldn't resist him. Most guys were wrapped around the girls finger but she was pretty sure she was completely wrapped around his. Which was odd for her. But in this rare case she didn't care if the whole world knew or if people gossiped about them. She didn't even care if some other girl liked him. She would take her down if it was nessicary. Alex grew up with a marine as a father that was just how it was. If someone was trying to take what you wanted or already had. You wouldn't give up with out a fight. And being in that sort of family especially with all boys you never lost a fight. Alex may have been the petite little girl but she could take down her bigger brother's friends and wouldn'y hesitate to either of they hit on her or made fun of her.
She put her arms back around his neck and giggled. He seemed like he had a secret and was holding it in and made him seem even more cuter... if that was possible. "Of course their Jealous especially all you the little girls who had a crush on you" She winked at him still giggling. All those little middle school and high school girls just were going to have to wait till maturity before a guy like Anthony. It took her several trys to get it right. But she finally caught him. Or rather he caught her. It was an interesting topic "Love"When your young you always think you want it or have it. But really what you have or want is emotions inspired by peir pressure and whats one tv. Or from the girl point of view drama. And from the guy. Well guys only want one thing. Most anyways. When your young you need to be young sure you heard it a alot but it was true and Alex learned that the hard way. She wished she could go back and have a little more fun. But Luckily for her she got to have that with Anthony. She got to have that innocent summer love.. so to speak.
After a moment or so he released her. It was time for her to get changed and work loco. She knew it too. She let her arms fall from around his neck. She knew Loco would be getting on edge any moment. Sure being exercised every day twice a day had helped but now he just looked forward to getting out and running. He tended to get very impatient. He was smart and knew when it was time to run. So she actually was surprised she hadn't heard him making a rucass down the hall. "Yeah i should go get him ready." She thought about it for a second. She just got so frustrated with that horse. She wanted him to throw away this beast of his and become the amazing horse he knew he could be. But for some stupid reason she couldn't break his bad habits or way of thinking. he was just to smart for his own good.
She got lost in serious thought and had it writen all over her face. But then King came up behind her, she felt him breathing. but then he hung his head over her shoulder and a huge smile spread over her face. She loved that he did that. It made her feel trusted. She knew what he was like before and having him trust her this much really just made her so happy. Nothing could erase this moment. It was going into one of the best moments of her life list. She giggled and looked over at Anthony. "Uhoh! Anthony i think you might have some competition." She reached her hand up and placed it on Kings cheek. She loved the big horse. He may have towered over her but she felt confident he wouldn't even think of hurting her. She loved teasing Anthony and King was the perfect one to help with that. She kissed his nose and looked at anthony from the corner of her eye to see his reaction.

All those little girls who had a crush on him seemed to be imaginary. Or else he hadn't noticed them. Up until he'd met Alex the only thing he thought about and did was ride King out on that track. His focus never wavered from that horse, never faltered. But when Alex came along, he found himself tripping head over heels and falling in love with her. For the first time he'd been completely taken off guard, hit in the back of the head with a 2 x 4 if you will. For the first time in his life, he was completely disoriented and lost. For the first time in his life, something had become more important than racing. For the first time in his life, something else occupied his thoughts at all times. For the first time in his life, he had found someone who he never wanted to be apart from, who he could spend the rest of his life with. For the first time in his life, he had found true meaning.
He hadn't realized it before, but racing had been his escape. He hadn't noticed that really in racing, he'd been looking for an out, a way to leave everything behind him. Subconsciously he had hoped that on the back of that horse he cold out run life and all the pain that came along with it. He was trying to run away from his past, he was trying to run away from his memory. No horse he had ever met was fast enough. King and Doubt had come pretty close, but try as he may, there was always that endurance horse right on his heels, breathing down his neck and reminding him that it was there. Deep down he had known that at the end of the ultimate race, life, that stalker would catch up with him and blow by, beating him to the finish line by a nose.
With Alex though, everything had happened so fast, that he found himself finally out distancing everything that had haunted him for so long. He had a horse with speed, but she gave that horse wings...wings to fly to new heights where nothing, not even memory, could touch him. Where his life was exactly how he wanted it to be, where perfection was a thing that was within his reach, that he could grasp in his hand and hold close to him. Where he didn't have to worry about anything. Where everything was playing out before him and falling into place seemingly be divine intervention.
He broke free of his thoughts and looked up at the white faced chestnut horse who was looking at him smugly as if to say "yeah, what now big shot?" Oh how he loved that horse. Even though he could be a huge pain in the neck, he couldn't help but love him. Of course, not as much as the girl he was standing next to, but still...King had done more for him than any other animal had ever done. He'd re-discovered his will to achieve greatness. As Alex kissed King, he just laughed. At least he's got good taste. He said with a smile, Guess I've taught him well. He walked over so he stood beside King and ran his hand down his neck beneath his mane. Hate to break it to you bud, he said to the horse, but this one's taken, you'll have to go find your own.
He reached over and took Alex's hand which had been placed on King's powerful jaw line, wrapping his fingers around her hand so that they were "connected" under King's head. Funny thing was, the animal that stood between them was what brought them together. His blind panic had sent them through the rail and into the hospital where Anthony had realized that she was the one, now his sight was returning. Coincidence? I think not. Anthony was quite convinced that it wasn't fair for such a great animal to lose his sight...well, all things happen for a reason. It was being blind that he brought Alex and Anthony to each other, and now he was perhaps being rewarded for his temporary sacrifice. He deserved the best there was, and Anthony intended to give it to him.

It was funny life before Anthony had been in her mind all work and no play. It was still very much like that. She loved Anthony and was with him as much as she could. But in the back of her mind she was always calculating numbers and what was going on at the office. She hated it. But it was her. That was just how she was. When she was younger she always said she wanted to be successful before she met "The Guy" And thats exactly what she did. She went to school Got a job and now pretty much owned her own company. All of this Anthony didn't even know. He knew almost nothing about her infact. She knew i a little about him but wanted to know so much more. She didn't care if it took all night she would find out more about him. She wasn't sure if he wanted to know about her phsyco business woman side but she would keep it from him just to protect him.
It was pathetic she actually got a tinge bit jealous just hinking of all the girls who liked him. She was sad that she couldn't have met him sooner. But now was way better then later. She loved him. More then family, more then friends, more then racing and surprisingly more then work. She was a determined to be on her own 2 feet when the right guy came around and boy she was more then on her own feet when she met Anthony. And she was more then happy to let him into her life. Given it was 2 years earlier and she might have had a harder time. But he could just flash her a smile and she would give in to what ever he wanted. She wasn't a weak minded person but whenever she was around him she felt like she could no longer control what she did.
Before Anthony her life had one focus well two. Work and Racing. And if yu thought about it they were one thing. Racing was work. Sure they were two different works but they had similar points. But she loved them both. Racing more then her job but it was still work no matter how you looked at it. And it was her passion. Racing was her passion. Anthony was her Love. And work was her obssession. Yes thats right obssession. She always worked it was her mistress haha. But Anthony well he held her heart. It was completely at his will. And if he had been any other guy she wouldn't have aloud herself to be vunerable like that but she trusted him more then anyone in the world. Next she trusted her friend Keke then next loco then way down at the bottom family. Yes she trusted Loco more then her family. Maybe not her brothers but more then her parents yes. This was all just apart of her past that no one new about.
He finally came out of his tranz and she casually flirted with King. It was true though. If King were human he would be Anthony's biggest competitor. But at the moment his biggest competitor was down the hall. She loved that monster. She bobbed her head and looked up as if thinking. She looked full of herself. He was right he did have good taste. She laughed as he said he taught him well. Yeah maybe a little to well. He walked over to the two of them. Then broke the news to King. She smiled and looked at the huge head over her shoulder. She stroked down his big face. But then it hit her. She jerked her head to Anthony. "Is that so? Someone sure is confident." Sher stayed dead serious for a moment and let it all soak in. Then a smile slowly spread over her face. She knew she was his and always his no doubt about it. That was just how it was.
He intertwinned his fingers in his and she grinned sheepishly. He always knew how to get to her. She looked into Kings eyes and smiled. He was what brought Anthony and Her together. If he hadn't gone through the rail then she never would have told him she loved him. And now that he was gaining that little sparkle in his eyes she felt happy like he was getting his reward. She couldn't be happier for him. And thankful too. She only wished she could turn Loco around like Anthony had turned King around. She was slightly envious of them. But hard work and consistancy were what she needed. On cue as always Loco stamped his foot against the door. She kissed King again. "Sorry darlin my boyfriend is demanding my pressence." She giggled as she teased them both.
She walked around Kings head and stepped up to Anthony. She placed her hands on his chest and leaned into him and closed her eyes as if she was going to kiss him. But no she just pulled away toward the door dragging in hand across his chest flirtaciously. Then she slipped out and grabbed her keys from her purse. She jogged down to her car and slipped into it. Changing quickly into her pants and switched into a black tank top. Jean breaches black tank top and knee high riding boots. She stepped out of the car and walked back into the barn and down the aisle to Loco's stall. She slipped unlocked the tack box bringing out his light saddle and a curry comb. She slipped into the stall placing the saddle on the door behind her and wisked over his coat with the comb. She tacked him up, she got faster everytime in order to keep him from squirming. She slide the bridle over his head and unlatched the door. She amazed herself how fast she was getting.
Loco stood dumbfounded the whole time. But as soon as the door unlatched he was back to himself. She danced and waited for her to lead him out but it was obvious that he was ready to go to say the least. She lead him out brisquely and looked around for Anthony. She would wait for him but chances were Loco would be half way there wether he got there or not. Alex held him with a calm and firm but gentle hand. He danced and she just stayed relaxed. You had to be or he would feed on her energy. And inexperienced rider definatly couldn't handle him. He would murderize them before they even knew what hapened. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail but her bangs still swept across her face. She held him with one hand and her helmet under the other. She was ready to roll. And he was more then ready to run.

Anthony shook his head as Alex walked out of the stall after making it seem as if she was going to kiss him. He just stood there for a moment as she walked away, his shoulder up against King's. He and that horse were quite a pair. Being only 5'4" and King being 17 hands, Anthony's head didn't even come up to King's shoulder, but he could control the massive animal with just a thin leather strip. Anthony had always been impressed with the fact that horses were about ten times his weight, ten times faster, and ten times stronger, but they were willing to let him call the shots from their back when they could easily take control themselves. Just one more aspect of racing that he loved.
Don't even think about it. He said to King as he headed to the stall door, It would never work out between you two anyway. King followed him to the stall door and stretched his head out over it to watch as Anthony walked away. Even though his back was to the horse, feeling his eyes on him was a wonderful thing. King was one of the best horses in the world, and he deserved his sight. Plus, the more he could see, the more likely he was going to be allowed back into the real racing world. The more likely he was to get into the real racing world, the more likely Anthony was going to be accepted as a jockey again. No more of this shunning stuff. Once they saw that he still had the ability to take a horse that the rest had given up on and bring him in for a win, there would be no doubt that he would get more rides.
Like all guys, Anthony didn't take more than five minutes to get changed out of his riding clothes and into regular clothes. As he headed back towards the barn where both King and Loco were kept, a trailer pulled into the drive and stopped right outside the barn he was heading to. Several men got out of the truck and opened the tailgate. One walked in, and returned moment's later with a small gray horse in tow. He was quite small actually, just barely 15 hands. He followed along behind the man leading him lazily, barely lifting his feet off the ground as he walked. His head hung low, almost so that his muzzle was down to his knees. Honestly, he looked like an old horse, probably at least 15 years old.
Nevertheless, a smile found its way to Anthony's face at the sight of the horse. He knew that animal, and knew him well. Of course, the last time he'd seen him, the horse had been lying in the grass struggling to get up with the infield crowd pressing around them, and Anthony had been about dying from pain, also lying in the grass, with medics all around him only making the situation worse for him. The trainer had managed to get rid of them for him though, and he was ever grateful to him for that. Ever since he'd come up to the states, that trainer had done a million things for him, and Anthony considered him nothing short of family.
Anthony stood at the entrance of the barn, watching the horse come forwards. It took a minute or two for the horse to notice him, but when he did, his head shot up and his ears pricked forwards. He stopped in his tracks and stood erect watching the man before him. The stillness only lasted a moment, and before the handler could react, the gray leapt forwards, jerking the lead from the man's hand and trotted quickly up to the jockey, a low rumbling nicker rolling from his throat as he came up to him. The little horse shoved his head into Anthony's chest happily as the handlers came running up apologizing a million times, and not realizing that the horse wasn't bothering Anthony in the least.
Don't worry about it, he said, stopping the constant flow of apologies that was coming from them. This guy and I go back a few years. When he said that a look of recognition crossed the face of the handler. You're the jockey. He said to which Anthony just nodded as he stroked the horse's face. Anthony was the only person who had been able to ride this animal on the track without him going ballistic and attacking someone, usually another horse, and getting disqualified. I'll put him up. He said, and the handlers all went to get the tack and whatnot that had come with the small horse.
Arrangements had been made to put the gray in the empty stall next to King for the convenience of the rider, and that was where Anthony put him. He closed the door behind the horse and stood there for a moment. Good to have you back Doubt. He said, then turned to go find Alex and Loco. As he walked away, Doubt's head swiveled out over the door and towards his neighbor. King didn't seem to mind the low key horse next to him and did the same. There wasn't a horse in the world that Doubt didn't get along with in the stable. On the track though, unless Anthony was astride him, he'd attempt to kill the other animals.
It didn't take Anthony long to find Loco and Alex, and as always, he couldn't help but smile. Loco was a beast of a horse, and Alex was so...well...tiny really. It was even more amazing that she could control him. Sure they had their little fights every now and then, but nothing she couldn't handle, he knew. Even if her horse had a death wish for him, he still loved her, and wouldn't miss any of this for the world. I didn't keep you waiting long did I? He asked, as he intentionally positioned himself on the opposite side of her as Loco. He'd seen the way Loco was with her and knew that he wouldn't ever try to hurt her, so he felt safe with her between himself and the horse. Anywhere else, and he might end up dead, so this side of Alex was his side.

She spotted Anthony coming out of the stall next to King's. She saw the grey head and thingyed her head to the side a little confused. She wasn't sure what was going on but decided not to ask. Not yet anyway. She needed to focus on the horse beside her. If she didn't he would walk all over her. That was just how it rolled with her and him. She payed attention to him when she was with him. And in return he didn't take advantage of her. Odd relationship yes but that was just the one they had. She loved him and believed her loved her... or at least tolerated her. She reached over and stroked his nose but in retun her bobbed it up and down obviously anxious just to get going. He wasn't exactly the most patient horse as previously stated. He wouldn't wait for you to lead him there, he would take himself. He was impatient, demanding, smart, and big. Not a good combination. It made it very difficult to control but somehow she was blessed with that special touch. He seemed to be more obedient with her. Sure he had it in for Anthony but he let her handle him easily usually without much hastle.
He came and stood on the opposite side of her from Loco. She sighed. She wished it didn't have to be that way. But it was true if he stepped near Loco he would most likely attack him. She quickly shoved her disapointment away and smiled. "Naw we just got out here your just in time." She paused as Loco danced around. "Though i think on his watch you kept us waiting far too long." She laughed and pushed the reigns back making him back up. She looked over at him slightly frusterated but still keeping her calm demeanor. She turned back to Anthony and rolled her eyes and laughed. He was like a kid with a bad temper. But she was good at being the mom and didn't take any crap from him. He was the animal she was the human. Sure he towered over her but she was tough and wasn't going to have any of it.
She snapped the lead and got his attention then started walking. She wasn't going to push her luck. Now that he was focused on her she wanted to heed that. Make him see that by paying attention to her got him rewards, such as moving on. She was ready to get out there and run. Yeah she loved it so much and she looked forward to it as much as Loco. As they past King and the greys stalls she looked over.... yeah she was as curious as george. But she stilled didn't say anything. She would keep her focus on the run then ask over dinner or on their way back from the track. But right now she just wanted to get there alive. Loco walked pasted all the stalls with his head held high. Yes he knew exactly where they were going and he knew he was fast and he like most guys was proud and slightly thingyy. She shook her head and laughed. "You big lug stop showing off." She pushed him but it didn't alter his steps any. He was far to big for her push to effect him. She could when she wanted to but she was just playing with him.
They headed back up that trail for the second time and her plan was to walk back down it. She was confident that evening ride was going to be great. There was nothing that could ruin her night with Anthony. She and Loco would have a clean run and they would have dinner and everthing would be fine and dandy. She reached over with her other hand and slipped it into Anthonys threading her fingers in his. She couldn;t wait to get out there on Loco. Her big black monster that everyone was terrified of.... Everyone except a tiny blonde girl... go figure how that worked. His black coat rippled with muscles he was such an impressive animal. Just looking at him put anyone in awe. They all stopped and stared... then ran away when he attacked. It was sad but oh so funny to see all the big men think they could handle him better then her... But no it just wasn't happening.
She maybe that size double zero but her arms had plenty of muscle from dealing with monsters such as him. She loved how she could show up all the guys at work on their lunch breaks when they arm wrestled. It was funny to see their faces when she won. Yes you boss is smaller then you smarter then you is a girl and can woop your butt. She liked that power. Course she hid it from everyone for as long as possible. But when you worked with horses. Muscle didn;t do much sure it helped with being a jockey but no matter how strong you were the horse was bigger and could easily disobey you. You just needed to brains to make sure the horse stayed in his place at all times. And she constantly made sure she put Loco in his. And with that their relationship was successful.

Anthony could see Alex's curiosity about the gray horse he'd just been with, but he also knew that she had to keep her focus on Loco. Last time he'd sort of accidentally taken her focus off Loco, the horse had gone ballistic and attacked him then took off. Last thing he wanted was to cause that happen again. Of course, last time it had actually been King who stole her attention but he and King were pretty much one and the same considering that King did everything Anthony did and Anthony was basically King's eyes for so long. If Anthony was nervous or tense, King was nervous and tense. King was like an enlarged version of Anthony in horse form.
As the three of them walked by King and Doubt, the gray's head popped out of the stall again, and he nickered to the trio. He seemed like such a sweet horse when he was in the stable or anywhere but the track. He'd been given the nickname "The wolf in Lamb's Clothing" because of his violence on the track. He may have been smaller than all those other horses out there, but he was just as tough, and probably tougher than them. He was well known for "Savaging" other horses during races which always got him disqualified. Always, that is, unless Anthony was the one who was riding him.
King also looked out at the three of them, but his interest was more on the humans than the horse. Other horses were competitors, and until they were on the track, he had no interest in them. As Anthony walked by, King stretched out his neck and lipped at Anthony's shirt as if begging to come along. To a passerby it would appear that King was trying to bite him, but Anthony knew better and just continued on, ignoring the horse. He'd already been out today, and he wasn't going to risk bringing him within Loco's reach right before they might have their big break. Who knew what Loco would do to another horse out there, and considering King still didn't have full sight, there wouldn't be much he could do about it.
As always, it took no more than five minutes to walk out to the track. It was a short walk and Anthony was quite glad of it. The pain the doctor had warned him of and tried to use as an excise to get him to keep the cast one was really starting to hit him now, but he wasn't going to let it stop him. He'd gone through this before, and he knew that it was possible that he would always feel pain when he rode. Heck, his broken arm from a year ago still hurt like hell when he tried to hold King back, and that was with the brace. He was no stranger to pain, and it had never stopped him before, so it wouldn't stop him now.
Every time he came within view of the track it just took his breath away. Here, looking at it, it was so still and quiet, almost forgotten in a sense. But when he was out there, it came alive with the sound of hooves, with the furious motion of a galloping horse, with the sweat and strain. When he was out there, it was real, and it was his life. He loved Alex more than anything in the world, but when he got out there and put his focus on the horse, she never once entered his mind. Any good jockey would agree. When you're out there, the only things that exist are you, your horse, and the competition. No one on the rail intrudes on your thoughts.
He stopped at the gate and pulled it open for her, but before she could enter the track, he took her hand in his, the smile still adorning his features. I love you Alex. He said, really meaning it. He knew that being as close to Loco as he was right now was dangerous, but he didn't care. He loved Alex, and he wasn't going to let the fear of her horse killing him come between them. She meant more to him than anything else, even his own life. He didn't think he could handle a single day without her at his side. That was just how "obsessed" he was with her.

She smiled at him and they stared walking. The whole walk was silent which was odd but peaceful. She liked the quiet... sometimes. Other times she couldn't stand it. But this quiet was a scary one. She let her mind wander to thoughts it shouldn't have and it scared her. What if something happened to her and Loco during this ride. It was a big one. And She had high hopes for that ride and suddenly was seeing them come crashing down along with her. She tried not to think that way but the thoughts kept entering her mind. But she made sure she didn't lead on and stayed collected. The thoughts of failing yet again hung over her head like a huge cumulos cloud. The fall at the track in New York replayed in her mind and then her Phsyco horse rearing and going nutts followed soon after. She clenched her eyes shut for a split second and the images went away.
Her mind trailed off to the grey next to King and she kept trying to place him but he didn't fit anywhere... That she could remember. it just wasn't there. He was small in size but he was definatly thoroughbred she saw it in his eyes. She couldn't remember him though and she was getting frustrated.. He looked familiar and she knew she should remember but she didn't. He must be a horse Anthony knew.. or bought.. Why didn't she know? did he tell her and she just forgot? Crap what if she had and she was a total ditz. Oh God that would be horrible. She would feel terrible if she had forgotten. She thought on it a little longer but decided to focus on Loco before he took advantage of her.
She looked up at the big black beast. His eyes fixed on the trail ahead of him waiting for the track to appear. His muscles rippled but he moved easily. You could tell he was anxious to get out there though. What thoroughbred wasn't. Finally the track loomed infront of them taking her breath away as usuall. She and Loco paused simultainiously. He snorted and looked at the place where he belonged. She smiled and patted his neck. The nerves and worries were gone. It was gunna be just her and Loco. When they were out there it was just the two of them. No one else matter not even Anthony. Yes she loved him but on the track it was just you and your horse. The track spread out before you and you took it by force. Thundering across its turf. Silence took over ther serene place. Then in a flash thunder comes and a horses dash across leaving their imprint on it.
She lead Loco ove to the gate and Anthony opened it for her. She smiled but before she could thank him he grabbed her hands telling her he loved her. It was dangerous for him because Loco was standing right there. The horse was already ready to go and having the person he hated most in the world slow him down wasn't going to make him very happy. He snorted and stamped his hoof but thats all he did....for the time being. Alex kind of liked the rush of know her horse could attack at anymoment. It was hot. She Smiled and slowly slid her handsfrom his chest to around his neck. She ket eye contact and when she was almost kissing him she stopped. "I love you too." She kissed him good and long and when she finally pulled away. "Just incase something happens i want you to remember that."She never wanted to leave him but she had to face facts that everytime she road Loco that was a risk. All part of racing thoroughbreds. She slipped her helmet on and buckled it.
She lead Loco into the the center and jumped on him. He danced but stayed in the same spot. She patted his neack and tightened her grip making sure she was in control. She moved him at a trot for a few paces then turned him around to the inside rail and started to canter. Byt the time they were back to Anthony she pulled him to a halt. She turned and winked at Anthony, but quickly turned her attention back to Loco. He snorted and you could see i tin his eyes he knew what was coming. She prepared her body and braced herself. She yelled out and withing a milli second He shot off. She wanted to practice starting at a stand still versus cantering then just letting him out. She needed to get him ready for running in actual races and she didn't have a gate that she knew of. So this was the best way. She leaned over him and he opened up a little more. She came around and opened him up one more notch. They came back around toward Anthony. A huge smile spread over her face and she let him out a little more. He dashed across what would have been the finish line. right past Anthony.
What a ride! She leaned back slowing Loco down. He as usual put up a fight. He wanted to go longer. She would have let him but his legs just weren't ready for that kind of pressure. She slowed him to a canter then once they had eaten up almost half the track she turned him around and slowed to a trot. But with his long strides it didn't take long to get back to the gate. But as if a bee stunk him he jumped away toward the inside rail and reared. Alex fell off and landed to the side of him. Loco landed on his hooves and looked down at Alex laying on the ground. He lowered his nose and sniffed her stomach. He didn't understand what was going on. Why was his rider suddely taking a nap on the track?
ooc; Complete! Better have a post back when i get home!

Anthony pretty much completely forgot all about Loco and how much the horse hated him and would have liked to kill him as Alex's hands moved across his chest and up around his neck. Good lord, he was so helpless around her. Even just a caress like that made him completely incapable of anything and everything. For Heaven's sake he couldn't even think straight. It was like everything vanished and the only thing that existed was the gorgeous, incredibly hot, sexy girl named Alex. He was going to have to stay away from her before races, otherwise he'd probably end up coming in dead last because he couldn't seem to get his focus off her and onto the horse.
His arms involuntarily wrapped around her waist as her lips touched his in a kiss. As always, he found himself kissing her in return. Even though it had been a rather long kiss, he hardly even noticed when she pulled away. She left him standing there almost in a bit of a trance as she leapt up onto Loco's back. His focus was completely lost. He was like a lab when someone pulls out a tennis ball, couldn't get his mind off that one thing. Normally he was an expert at multi tasking, but Alex...she just changed everything for him, and when she was around him...she was the one and only thing he could think about.
The sound of Loco's hooves galloping away snapped him out of his trance, and he watched as that insane horse carried the love of his life away on its back. He was beginning to wonder what had stopped Alex from racing. She obviously was as in love with it as he was, and even getting crushed under two horses hadn't stopped him from getting back out there. He was guessing it had to be something huge. From the way she was so dedicated to Loco and getting him into racing form and teaching him track manners, he knew that racing was highly important to her, so why she would ever stop was a mystery to him.
His gaze followed the black horse and his rider around the far side of the track. It was hard to believe that Loco was the same horse out there on the track as he was when Anthony was around him. It was sort of a depressing thought when he considered that unless Loco got over his extreme hate for him, he would never be able to ride out there with Alex. Plus, he wasn't sure how Loco and King would react to each other, which could also be a problem. There weren't many horses that King actually got along well with unless they were calm and gentle horses like Doubt was.
King hadn't run with another horse on the track in a long time, and Anthony hoped that he would do alright with it in the future when they got back into competition. How was that for optimism? Anthony was quite confident that he could get King into racing again. And why not? He was improving more and more every day. He'd been in shape the entire time since Anthony had almost never let up on his training schedule except when he got in the accident and was hospitalized, so that wasn't an issue. It was just his sight. He had to be able to see very well in at least one eye or he wouldn't be allowed out there for his own safety, which Anthony understood completely.
He snapped out of his thoughts to see Alex and Loco coming to a stop not far from him. That was strange, a ride with no issues? What was the world coming to? Just as he thought that maybe today they wouldn't have anything go wrong, Loco lurched to the side like some sort of super hero avoiding a bullet, and Alex went down to the ground. Anthony, being as over protective of her as he was, ducked under the rail and almost ran across the track to her, but stopped himself before getting even so much as two strides from the rail. Loco was standing there next to her, and he wasn't too keen on getting killed today. Sure, people say you're supposed to be confident so that the horse won't sense your fear, you have to establish your dominance...but I can promise you that none of them were ever attacked by a very angry 17 hand horse that wanted nothing less than to kill you. Nevertheless, if Alex stayed on the ground much longer, he was going to take that risk and go to her. If she was hurt, getting her help was more important than his own safety. He'd jump in front of a train if it meant saving her...Loco was almost a train, so that shouldn't hinder him too much...

God she was so in love. Anthony was like her perfect match.. No he wasn't like her perfect match. He is her perfect match. The only one for her. There relationship reminded her ddly of titanic. Passionate romanitc and full of thrills. Sure they were all for different reasons but they were all still there. She loved Anthony's passion for horse racing and felt that out of everyone he would understand her drive her reason for doing this. Mainly just for the love of it. But there was that little bit inside her that needed to prove to herself that she could do it again. She could get on that huge horse load into a gate and ride in a big purse race again. She could and would take that chance that risk and she would succeed. She had to. She would drive herself on to all extremes. And there was nothing that could stop her. Not even Anthony. She would push herself to the point of no return if she had to.
After the moment of emotional expression she got onto Loco. The ride was great he moved like a great horse should and opened up just like she wanted to. She felt she was really hitting a break through. Yes they still had a long way to go but getting him to go smoothly around the track was the first big step. The next step was adding a competitor. Which was way harder then it sounded. But it would happen. Today showed her that he could do it. He could set his mind on the track and not murdering something. When she turned him to walk back to Anthony she had the biggest proudest smile on her face. Yes, she got him to that point on her own. She could handle the most phsycotic horse she ever met and could turn him into a speed machine. That was extremely cometitive. Even with Alex's heart. He wanted to be number one. And the fact that Anthony got that position set him off more often then not. Yeah he may just be a dumb animal to some people but he understood somethings better then people did.
But as usual he made things bad. He screwed up. And since he had caught Alex off her guard she went flying. When he looked over at her on the ground it was like. Well huh why is she sleeping i just ran great and this is what i get. He was utterly confused and you could see it in his face. But he caught the sound of Anthony's feet running towards them. He didn't lift his head but just looked at him with curiousity. But he soon sensed Anthony's panic and worry and soon realised that something had gone wrong. His head shot up and he looked around in panic. He protectively stepped over her careful not to step on her or kick her. And then the turned to face Anthony with his ears pinned. He wasn't budging he loved Alex and felt compelled to protect her. Even from Anthony.
Alex's body remained limp as Loco stepped protectively over her. He didn't know what else to do. Alex was his lead mare and without her he was helpless to express himself. He didn't know how to comunicate with Anthony and as far as he was concerned it was Anthony's fault she was on the ground unconscious. But with an abrupt gasp of breath Alex shot up. Of course scaring the crap out of the above Loco. He leapt over her trampling her in the proccess. She was kicked in the side and on the head as Loco moved further down the track away from the random scary events that were taking place. Alex laid on her back motion less beside the rising and falling of her chest as she attempted to catch her breath.
It was like when you have been holding your breath under water for a long time and you finally are able to come up. You try and tack in as much air as possible to make up for the lack of doing so. She was totally lost and she felt like she had been out forever. She didn't know what had just happened beside the fact that her huge black monster had just trampled her. Not the first time but definatly the most servere. She felt numb like she couldn't move and it made her incredibly mad she just wanted to get up and get her horse what was wrong with her. So unable to get up and get her horse she just laid there helpless. She started weeping. Thoughts of the accident that ended it all. She hated thinking of it but it washed over her and she couldn't stop crying tears flooded down her cheeks and images flashed in front of her. They had haunted her for so long and the move here and working with loco had helped erase them but now here they were all over again. Taunting her telling her she could never do it again. She was a lost cause she would never be able to let go and move on.
She didn't know she was but her had put her hands into fist and she was slamming them on the ground. She was Sad, Upset, Angry, furious with herself for letting this happen. Frustrated that she couldn't feel her body. Her nerves had been shocked by the abrupt hit to the head even though she had a helmet on it was still a great impact that she wasn't braced for. And now she could only feel pins and needles. She screamed in anger what the crap was going on. Then she passed out. Several pictures popped into her head. The farm back home, That stall fourth on the right, Lectric gazers precious face, then Loco, and pinewood, and The last picture Anthony. She came to only being out for a few minutes. She could feel again. She smiled thankful as she took another breath. She was gunna be sore tomorrow!

Anthony stood motionless watching Loco, keeping eye contact with him, but noticing every movement his body made. He knew how to avoid getting attacked by a horse, especially one that hates you and wants you dead because it blames you for its rider getting hurt. Finally, after a few moments, he gave up, if Loco attacked him then so be it, Alex wasn't moving yet, and she was more important than himself so he was going to have to risk it. Just as he did so though, Loco spooked and took off down the track, leaving Anthony free to go to Alex, even though the risk of Loco coming back was still there, he didn't care.
It took him hardly a few moments to get across the track to where Alex lay, but by the time he got there, she was moving, angrily pounding her fists into the ground. He hadn't ever seen her react like that to anything, and he was quite concerned. Usually she was calm and took everything as it came, but now, she seemed like she wanted to kill something because of her fall. He knelt down beside her, and put his hand on her arm just as she passed out. As much as that was a concern, he knew that when people passed out like that their body was basically resetting itself, and that when she came out of it, she would probably feel better.
Still, that didn't stop him from worrying. He slipped one arm under her neck and shoulders and gently lifted her into a sitting position. She was hardly out for a minute before she came back. Her smile was reassuring, but he didn't doubt that she had a slight concussion and some major bruising to add to the one she already had on her shoulder. You alright? He asked her gently, holding her close to him. It was probably a funny sight. A huge black horse running loose on the track, and two jockeys sitting on the ground in the middle of the track the guy holding the girl.
He glanced up towards Loco to see if the horse was coming back. He had a feeling that Loco wouldn't like it too much, how close Anthony was to Alex, and would probably come back and try to attack him, but that didn't matter right now, what mattered was Alex, and helping her. Getting back to the stable wasn't exactly going to be easy, with Alex more than likely out of sorts, and him trying to help her while at the same time trying to stay out of Loco's reach. But who knew? Maybe Loco would get the idea that Anthony wasn't a bad guy and would stop hating him for no apparent reason.
He was wondering if maybe Doubt would make for good competition for Loco. Anthony knew how to keep the little gray's attention on the track and his rider and off the other horses, so he wouldn't have to worry about him attacking Loco. He was such a down to earth and entirely non-dominant horse, that Anthony didn't know any other horses that disliked him. He even got along with King, and King didn't like other horses at all. Maybe he would suggest that to Alex later...much later. According to Doubt's trainer, he'd started falling back into the habit of Savaging other horses on the track, and Anthony was the only one who could put a stop to that. So once he broke that habit, they would be good to go.

When she came to she looked up to see Anthony looking down at her. She smiled nice and big. He was the only one she wanted to see right then and there. His hand supporting her made her feel protected and safe. She took a few deep breaths trying to peace together what had just happened. All she remembered was the spook the rest was a blurr. She knew she obviously fell off but her rib cage hurt. She furrowed her brow line at the pain that she was in. Her head was pounding and breathing was becoming a struggle and she was guessing by the soreness in her shoulder her previous would had been hit again. A staggered sigh came out of her. Just when things seemed to be heading in the right direction she was once again proven wrong.Crazy horse.
Crazy Horse! Her mind switched and she realised she was still on the track and Loco wasn't standing near her. She shot up into a more direct sitting position and glanced around. Her eyes settled on the monter standing a ways off staring at the two obviously confused. Her eyes softened and a smirk rested on her lips. He may be a monster on the outside but insed he is just lost and confused. She understood him she knew what that pain felt like. He was her baby. She would bring him out of that state of mind and turn him into a speed machine. She saw him in the future she was the only one who saw his potential. He had all that a bag of chips. She fell in love with him even before she met him. His story caught her intrest and now here the were or the rocky road to success. It would take all she had but she would get him there.
He reminded her so much of Lectric. There was a deep long story behind that horses name. But she like to think or talk about it. Though she knew sooner or later Anthony would wonder what the reason was behind her dropping racin completely. It was a traumatic experience for her and she jut recently got to the point where she didn't get depressed whenever she thought about it. She shook the images away. And brought herself out of her daze. Loco stood looking at them. His eyes held such a meaning behind them so much expression you could almost hear what he was saying with them. She relaxed a bit and finally the words anthony had spoke several minutes ago registered to her brain. She looked to him putting up a false smile. "Yeah i'm ok" She wasn't sure if he would believe her. She really was ok physical wise mentally she was a bit worried and stressed but she had been able to burry that feeling before.
She smiled what would she do with out Anthony. She didn't want to think of that though. She took a deep breath and leaned back into his arms. Was this another set back? or just a small incedent to pass by as if it wasn't there? Either way she knew she wouldn't let it bug her. She had delt with Loco before and this situation was no different. She wouldn't treat him any different. She was the human he was the animal. Shen loved him but thats just the way the cookie crumbles. To her surprise Loco stayed put not moving and inch toward or away from them. That scared her. Was he ok? She still wasn't even sure why he lurched to the side to begin with was there something physically wrong with him? How would she know he wouldn't let a vet near him... ever.
Well this isn't exactly what she wanted but the day was still perfect in her mind. King was doing good. Anthony was happy. Loco had a clean run.. he spooked in the end but still was doing good. And Best of all as far as she was concerned they were still going to dinner. Sure she was in pain but she would pop a few asprin and that would go away. She had the perfect outfit laid out in her head the night would have a happy ending. She looked up at Anthony and smiled. She may have been considered as moving to fast but she didn't care she was in Love. She wanted to be with him every moment. She had to watch herself though she didn't want to be distracted to much for what should always come first. He came first of course but When she rode loco the horse came first all thoughts of boys were pushed away and with Anthony that was difficult to do. Very difficult.

Anthony had seen her smile enough times to know that the one she just gave him wasn't a real smile. He also wasn't convinced when she said she was fine. He was fairly sure she was alright physically aside from perhaps a slight concussion and a bruise to her side. But he could tell that she was shaken, even more so than she had been the time she almost fell off Loco, his first time out on the track. He was rather surprised that Loco hadn't come charging back here to kill him yet. He was hoping that it wouldn't happen, but he was pretty sure it would at some point. There was no way Loco would lose his hate for him so suddenly. After all, the horse had just been staring him down when Alex fell off.
He leaned back against the post that supported the rail, and put both arms around her body to hold her closer to him. He gently kissed her forehead as if to let her know that she was going to be alright. She'd already cried on him once, and he didn't mind if she did again. They were in love, and he would be there for her if she was laughing, or crying. That was what love was, it was unconditional. He knew he'd only known her for three weeks, but that didn't matter. Every time they kissed it was like electricity flowed through them, and he knew that she was the girl for him, he just knew it. Don't ask why, he just did.
Sitting down felt glorious at the moment, his leg was killing him. The doctor had told him that it would be painful, but he already knew that. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. He may never have gone through high school or college, heck, he never even finished third grade, and he knew it was going to be painful. The doctor didn't need to tell him that. But getting his weight off that leg was like going to sleep after 62 hours awake, getting on steady ground after being on the ocean for weeks. Basically, it was a huge relief, just sitting down made the pain about 10 times less intense.
It's okay Alex. He said somewhat softly, brushing his hand through her hair. He glanced up towards Loco again, to see if he had decided to come kill him yet. Even if the horse came charging at him though, he was staying with Alex. He wasn't going to let a crazy horse chase him away from the love of his life. Besides, he was going to have to make Loco know that he couldn't get away with attacking him forever. Sooner was better than later. If he was ever going to ride out on the track with Alex, he was going to have to make Loco respect him so that the horse wouldn't attack him while they were running. That would be most unfortunate and dangerous.
After a minute or two, he pushed himself back up onto his feet, pulling Alex up with him. He kept his arm firmly around her waist, being sure not to put pressure on her bruised shoulder or the spot Loco had kicked her. He didn't want to cause her anymore pain. He was probably in enough pain for the both of them, then add in the pain she was in....they were set for life, and he didn't need to make it worse than it already was.
