Abbie turned the key in her ignition off as she looked through the windshield at the barn she was now parked in front of. Pinewood Stables. This place was pretty much her home away from home, and if she had the choice, it would be her only home. But, she couldnt live at the barn. Life was not that easy to escape from, so, when she left, reality would catch up with her and start laughing at her again.
Running her hand through her hair as she stepped into the sun, her eyes wandered around the outside of the barn. It was all the same, so unchanging. So peaceful. Nothing ever went wrong when she was here, so it was her escape. And, today was the day her new horse arrived. She had recently purchased a dapple grey warmblood, and he was being delivered to Pinewood later this afternoon. She was here this early to get his stall ready, and to clean her tack before riding. Today would be a good day. This is what she told herself every morning, for she was determined to only have happy memories. For the last few years.
Now, she took out her sunglasses and slid them onto her face. Then, taking a hair tie she pulled her deep brown hair into a messy bun at the top of her head, and she pulled her bangs down, so that they didnt poof up. Glancing into the window of her truck, she checked her appearance one more time before heading into the barn.
Coming to what would now be her horses stall she opened the door. Then, going into the tackroom she grabbed the bags of shavings she had bought, brought them back to the stall, and spread them evenly over the stall mat. But, about half way through the process her stomach began to churn. Abbie dropped her pitchfork, and slid down to sit in the corner of the stall, resting her head on her knees. She waited for the sick feeling to pass, but even when it did, she could not make herself stand.
The therapy she had been going through to treat her cancer had made her weak and sick. It wasnt chemo, since that was expensive, and the doctors had given up on curing her. It was just something to slow the progression of the cancer, and to give her a few more months of life. If only they had caught the cancer sooner....
Now, willing herself into a standing position she moved out into the aisle way of the barn, but after a couple of steps she felt her legs give way, and she collapsed against the stall door, grabbing at anything to keep her upright. She found the pars on the stall, and pulled herself up again, and tried walking. She almost had made it back to her truck when she couldnt go any farther, and fell. She scooted herself to be leaned against the side of the barn, for she had made it outside, and felt a tear roll down her cheek, and land softly on her hand. Life would neve be the same, and soon, it would be gone all together.

C.orey }} && 'days swiftly come and go;
Corey drummed his fingers on the steering wheel as he cruised down the county road towards the stable. Great, another day in hell. Could life be anymore boring? He figured he might as well play along with it though. Once he got a job he was out of here. Maybe he'd move back to Houston, find an apartment. Ah yes, the good life. But for now he was stuck here in this tiny little town where there seemed to be nothing to do. Well, someone had mentioned something about a night club or a concert hall? That sounded a little more like it, but still... in a small town like this there probably wasn't much to expect.
He turned the radio up as a song came on, letting it blast from his truck's stereo system. He looked around as he drove, a little over the speed limit. Huh, guess there were no cops in a hick town like this. He smirked to himself and pressed down on the gas, feeling the truck accelerate under him. He let out a woop, letting the speedometer hit 75, 80. He laughed as it hit 85, then he slowly let off the gas as he grew nearer to his destination. He wouldn't want a speeding ticket after all... ha.
He ran his hand through his hair as he whipped into the stable, the gravel crunching under his tires as if to announce his arrival. He really didn't have anything to do today, other than maybe hang out in the loft and listen to his ipod. At least his mom could be with her beloved husband and not have to be burdened with worrying about her rebellious son.
Corey yanked the door open, maybe with a little more force than what was needed, and stepped out into the parking lot. He slammed the door much in the same fashion, locked it, and stuffed his hands in his pockets as he started off towards the large building. His chocolate hues scanned the seemingly lifeless stable yard. This place was probably just as dead as the rest of the town. He spotted only a few other vehicles in the parking lot. He started forward again, but suddenly he saw someone, stopping him right in his tracks.
A girl was crumpled up on the ground next to the barn. Was she... crying? He gritted his teeth. Great. But then he sighed, starting towards her slowly. Might as well ask if she was okay. It was only right. "Hey, are you... okay?" He asked a little awkwardly. but then recognized her. Abbie? "Oh, it's you" He said without thinking, instantly regretting the way he said it. He sighed, stuffing his hand halfway into his pocket again. Ah well, it was too late to take it back now...

Abbie
The pain now had started to rush through her stomach, makingher moan a bit. With her teeth clenched she waited. For what? I guess sometimes she almost expected the worse, or to put it simply, the end. The end of her life, the end of her legacy, and the end of her family. After her, there was no one else. She had no siblings, and both her parents were dead, and both of them were only children. So, she was it. This was where the road officially ended.
The sound of another vehicle pulling into the parking lot made her raise her head slowly. It came into the parking lot just a little too fast, and the music was a little too loud. As the door opened it was a bit too hard, and the door was slammed just a little too fast. Everything about this person seemed to be just a little too confident for this town, so Abbie could only think of one person who would be like that, and it was Corey Black.
As she watched the man step from the car, she recognised him from his avatar on the Pinewood Chat room. Never in a million years did she think she would be staring at his looks, but here she caught herself. He was, to simply put it, gorgeous. His body was in good... no great shape, his muscles visable through his shirt. But, as quickly as she had seemed to catch herself, she looked away.
Now, as she heard his footsteps coming closer, she focoused all of her energy to getting into an upright position. All to soon, though, he was next to her, and he was speaking."Hey, are you... okay?" This was the typical thing to say to her, and she wished someone would come up with something more creative. Then he added something else. "Oh, it's you" Those words sent a pang of hurt through her heart. It was just like always. Just her. Just Abbie. Never had she been welcomed nicely, lovingly....
Then, she looked up at him, a scowl firmly in place. "Im fine." But in all reality she needed someone. Someone to love, and be loved by. But, at the moment she thought differently. Gathering up all strength she pulled her feet beneath her body and heaved herself up, making it to a verticle pose. But after a few seconds, she wavered, and had to steady herself on the side of the barn. "Remember how I said you had no idea of what my life was like..." she trailed off as she doubled over from the pain in her side. "Shit..." was all she could manage to say before leaning back and breathing deeply, just waiting to be pain free. Even if only for a moment.

C.orey }} && 'everything's so blurry and everyone's so fake;
Corey was usually pretty good with dealing with things. Not to mentioned getting out of trouble. So this didn't scare him; no not one bit. But this seemed to be one of those things that he couldn't quite get out of without a hitch. He would enjoy trying though... Corey took everything as a challenge. That's just the way he was. And this was going to be somewhat of a challenge, not that he hasn't dealt with worse... but yeah. He definitely wasn't going to loose his cool.
Corey raised his brows slightly as Abbie scowled at him. Yeah, so maybe he deserved it, but still... she could have been more subtle about it. He winced slightly as she pulled herself upright, obviously with some difficulty. She obviously wasn't 'fine', but hey if she wanted to lie to herself, that was her problem right? "Remember how I said you had no idea of what my life was like..." She started before clutching her side in pain and bracing herself against the side of the stable. "Shit..." Corey was feeling just a little bad now, but was he going to admit it? Heck no.
"Yeah, you're not looking so good..." Okay, so that probably wasn't the best way to start, but that was just Corey. "Maybe you should sit down again or something" he suggested. The last thing he wanted was for her to pass out or something... Corey could be pretty arrogant. If you caught him on a good day he would admit that. But today wasn't one of those days. And he wasn't going to take back what he had said earlier online either. He never really was good at apologies, and those sorts of habits didn't just magically appear.
But he would make sure she was okay. That's what any normal human being would do right? She could tell him to buzz off for all he cared, he was just being civil. If she had a problem with that, then she had to be as crazy as he had first though. She couldn't deny that she was in pain right now, he could see it clearly on her face... huh. Even distorted a little in pain, that picture he had seen of her hadn't given her justice... whoa. Where the heck had that thought come from?
He quickly shook it and stuffed his hands halfway in his pockets as he waited for her to respond in some way. She would have to be pretty ignorant to not accept help... unless she was one of those girls who thought they had to play it tough. Ha. Probably was. He could almost tell that already... great. He had had one too many dealings with those kinds of girls... it was annoying by now.
((OOC: Okay sorry it took so long to reply! And this is sorrta a crap post, sorry xD))
