ver wondered what it’s like to be unconscious and in as much pain as Charlie was currently? Well…you don’t want to know. I would advise you, and I’m sure Charlie would too…to avoid, at all costs, breaking your ribs, especially when you are involved in something like the police academy. Of course, the fact that the alcohol still hadn’t worn off just yet was helping him immensely, you know, deadening the senses, reducing the pain, that whole thing. Now, that meant that when he woke up in the morning, he’d get the pain full force, not to mention a worse headache than before from the hangover, and I can almost guarantee that he would be doing as little talking as possible do to his jaw having almost been dislocated.
Even in an unconscious sleep, people still dream…or at least Charlie did. It wasn’t quite a dream though, more like an extended flashback. Amanda Grace Leopold…one of Sebastian’s “love interests”…which for Charlie and Sebastian usually meant the girl they thought was the best looking and were luring into their beds. Anyway, Charlie had his eye on her for a long time, but back then, Charlie was kind of almost shy when it came to approaching girls. He could take on any guy without thinking twice, but unless he was totally buzzed, he had an incredibly hard time talking to any girl. He didn’t dare tell anyone about his attraction to her though, because then they would push him to go talk to her or something and he would make a fool of himself.
Well, as it were, evidently Sebastian agreed with Charlie on the attraction, and unfortunately for Charlie, Sebastian had absolutely no problem with approaching girls. So Seb and Amanda hooked up, much to Charlie’s dismay, and when Sebastian “hooks up” there’s a 90% chance that they’d be doing only one thing every night. Still, Charlie couldn’t let on to Sebastian that he had an interest in Amanda…mostly because he knew Sebastian would probably laugh and tell him it was too late and he should have made a move on her a long time ago, so Charlie just let it be and tried to pretend it wasn’t happening. So much for that.
One night, Amanda stopped by looking for Sebastian, and he wasn’t home yet. Charlie explained that to her, and said she was more than welcome to come in and wait. Of course, that was what Charlie told everyone who came by looking for Seb when he wasn’t home. It was really hard for him to have here there in the house, knowing that she was waiting for Sebastian and probably hadn’t even noticed him, but he was doing a pretty good job of pretending he was studying for his exam…at least until she apparently couldn’t wait for Sebastian anymore and “made a move” on Charlie. Charlie was rather surprised, but I’ll tell you now, he certainly didn’t protest.
Needless to say, when Sebastian came home half an hour later and found the two of them in Charlie’s room making out and about two minutes away from taking it a huge step further than that, he wasn’t too pleased at all. That was the last night either of them ever saw Amanda aside from the hall ways in school. She sort of freaked out when Charlie ended up out cold on the bedroom floor and Sebastian with bloody knuckles from putting him there. You would think that would be the sort of thing to end a friendship, but it didn’t. Sure they were mad at each other for about a week…but leave it to good ol’ Anthony to force them to get over themselves.
What seemed like only moment later, Charlie’s eyes cracked open slowly, and he glanced over at the clock. He’d been out for an hour…and felt slightly better…at least until he sat up. No, the moment he did that, he felt a million times worse than before. Sickening pain shot through him like a bullet, and he was barely able to keep it all down. Just as suspected, those ribs hurt like none other, he had a terrible hangover that was mixed with the pain of getting his head smashed against the wall, and his jaw was certainly aching like none other. If looked as bad as he felt right now…he would probably be a mutilated corpse.
He needed a drink…desperately. He slowly got to his feet, catching hold of the edge of a dresser to support himself before he attempted to walk out. He gained what little composure he had left, and slowly walked out of his room to go to the kitchen. “Hair of the Dog” was the typical routine for Charlie when he had a hangover. It was basically the only way he could get rid of the headache. He walked into the kitchen; trying to ignore Sebastian, pulled open the fridge, and grabbed a light beer…you know the kind that you would have to drink 20 of to get drunk. That was always the way he went when he was getting rid of the hangover.
Of course, he was still in an incredibly bad mood, and not in the mood to mess around at all. He walked over to the table and took a seat in one of the chairs, glancing down at the monstrous sized book of laws that he had been memorizing for the past two years. All the words on the pages in front of him made his eyes hurt, but he had a test tomorrow…and if he didn’t get the 15 new ones down perfectly, his commanding officer would probably fail him. He took a swig of the beer and set it down on the table, bringing his hand up to his head. He was quite mad at himself at the moment, which was usually worse than when he was mad at someone else. If he was mad at you, he usually didn’t take it out on you…but if he was mad at himself, there was no telling what he might do.
