I was down to Rocks whiter when Mell was done on the phone. Hearing her words I grew excited too. Great!, I said. Cant wait to see your horse, I said finishing and beginning on detangling Rocks tail. I smiled to Mel as she happily helpped me with The Rock. She seemed like a reallly good person. Maybe we can set up a day to go camping on a trail, I said. I knew that would make Mel go through the roof with excitment. She seemed so happy to get her horse here finally. I knew how she felt when I was waiting for The Rock to be delivered.
Soon coming up the gravel road was another trailer. I think hes here, I said. I finished with Rocks tail and went to his other side where Mel was. Go ahead I'll finish Rock, I said and took the brush from her. I smiled as she ran off to her horse. rock watched as Mel went but then turned his head and looked at me. I went to the giants head and gently stroked it. I kissed him on the cheek. Rock lowered his head to my level and nudged my arm gently. He liked his new owner. He couldnt wait to get to know her better.

Mel jumped at the sound of the gravel crunching hauling herself out of the barn. When she got out, her friend was already unloading her love. He whinnied at the sight of her, happy to see his own love. She threw herself at him, pulling him in a big hug. He nickered, sounding like a laugh. He put his head over her shoulder, and pushed her closer to him with his neck. Yes, he knew how to hug. She took the lead, smiling at her friend. "Thanks a bunch, Chuck!" she said as she ran to the barn, Ty trotting at her side. She laughed as he whinnied in excitement. She smiled, and came to a stop at The Rocks' stall, where Charlie was still in brushing down the huge Shire. She smiled, a little breathless in her happiness. "What'cha think?" she asked, her own eyes sweeping over the strong dappy grey. His pelt was already brushed, thanks to Chuck.
She smiled, and kissed his large cheeck. He nickered back, almost as happy as she was. She smiled bigger and stroked his think neck, and leaned her head on his shoulder. "He is a huge whirlwind right now. If you want, we could run off some energy on the trail?" she was so excited. She kissed him really big on the cheek again, and looked at Charlie for her opinion. Of course it didn't really matter to her, Ty was her pride and joy. She loved him to bits.

I finished brushing Rock and looked down for a minute to put the brush away. When I looked up Mel and Ty were running towards me. I chuckled at the eager girl. When she asked my opinion I didnt know what to say. Tys beautiful, I said. He was. His coat was really shiney and clean. Im sure he does have alot of energy from wanting to see you, I smiled at Mel. I watched as she interated with him. They were true friends. Much like me and Trigger. well since I took Trigger out early this morning I'll give Rock a test ride, I said heading to the tack room to grab his bridle.
When I came back Rock tossed his head at the sit of the bridle. He was eager. He loved to go riding and show off to his owner how much of a hard worker he could be. I took off the blue halter Rock was in and placed the bridle on his head. He took the bit easily and I clipped the chin strap. Taking hold of the reins I turned big boy around and stroked his neck. Well ready when you are Mel, I said. Rock snorted and chomped on his bit ready to go.

Mel smiled when she said Ty was beautiful. When Charlie went off to get something, Mel let Ty go up to Rock. She didn't think they knew what to think of eachother. She smiled, and as Charlie put on the huge Shires' reins, Mels' happiness exploded. "Thanks, Charlie!" she said happily, the she ran to the stack where Chuck put all of Tys' stuff. She grabbed the reins, and slipped off the halter, right there in the hall. She trusted him not to run off, and he knew that. She was right, his eyes were excited, but Ty stayed right there, accepting the bit without a problem. When it was around his head, he tossed it and whinnied, excited.
She got the reins on with no problem, and she didn't worry about a saddle. He was fine without one, and she didn't want to worry about putting it on. It took too long. She mounted him there, and then went out of the stable. "No, when you are." she laughed happily, and Ty snorted. Then she waited impatiently for Charlie to come out with Rock. She couldn't wait to ride. She hadn't rode him in about two days, she hadn't had time. But now she could, and her joy was exploding all around her.

Rock didnt mind other horses. His attention would always remain on his owner. I walked Rock out of the stable hall and up to a nearby fence. He was much to big to jump up. I climbed on the fence and jumped up onto Rocks back. He hardly felt me as I settled myself upon his large back. I gathered the reins and tapped his sides gently. Rock moved forward following Ty. Well hes good so far, I said to Mel.
Rock could hardly feel his small owner on his back but he knew she was there and he did his best not to drop her. I leaned forward and stroked the horses neck then sat back up right. Rock moved over the trail easily. He went at the pace I told him and he never argued for the lead. He was a good horse I thought. Very gentle and slow unless told otherwise. What do you think of the trail? I asked Mel who was infront of us. If we would campout it would be on the other trail its longer, I said and stroked Rocks neck again.

Mel smiled at the huge Shire. He practically towarded over Tyler, but to him it didn't matter. He just wanted to ride. She nodded at the information, and said, "Ya, we're gonna have to do that soon. Maybe we could do that early next week, or this weekend?" she asked. She loved to camp, and the horses' being there just made it a whole lot better. The huge Shire didn't seem to him Tyler, he was content in his little ride. Mel couldn't help but the difference between the rider and horse comical. One was just so fragile and small next to the other, it was funny. She knew she would look the same, and of course she would still laugh.
She laughed then, and asked Charlie, "Isn't it funny how the larger horses always seemed to be almost the most gentle?" She smiled at the horse and rider, and got herself more comfortable on the bare back. "So what trail are we going on?" She wasn't sure how far Charlie would want to go, so she would just enjoy whichever one she chose. Ty was pawing at the ground, being impatient. "Settle, Ty, settle." Mel soothed, rubbing his neck. He calmed down a bit, but his excitement to ride couldn't be let down. She shook her head, and waited for Charlie to anwser.

I chuckled at Mels comment about big horses being gentle. Ya its true, I replied. I pulled Rock up to Mels side. Lets take the pinewood trail, I said and tapped Rocks side heading for the trail. Rock walked on. As he walked he arched his neck. I had a feeling he use to be a show horse. As we walked on we began to enter a forest. I let go of the reins and just opened out my arms as if I was flying. I laughed at myself and grabbed the reins again. I looked back to Mel to see if she noticed my playfullness.
Hey I know a place where we could take the horses swimming, I said to Mels. I went off the trail through the trees. Follow me, I said. We soon came to a clearing with a small lake and lush grass for the horses to eat. I walked Rock up to the water but he would go in. I wasnt going to push the horse so I dismounted and tied the reins short so when he grazed he wouldnt step on them. I began to splash Rock with water though to cool him off alittle. The horse just stood there quietly as I did so. When he was good and wet I turned him around and pushed him slightly. Go graze, I told the giant. Rock knew what I meant and began to graze. The grass was so lush and sweet. He loved being with his new owner

When Charlie agreed, Mel smiled, happy they had so much in common. It was nice to already have a friend. She nodded, unable to hide her excitement when Charlie started to lead Rock on the trail. Ty hopped forward, and it made Mel laugh. What kind of a horse hopped? It was Ty. When Charlie spread out her ‘wings’, Mel did too, and laughed. When Charlie mentioned swimming, Mel’s eyes brightened. The heat was hot, but swimming just sounded fun.
When Charlie got off and splashed Rock, Mel got off and went into the cool water. It felt fantastic, and before she could do anything, Tyler was plowing through the water after them. Mel laughed as he splashed her, and she splashed back. Then, Mel laughed even harder when he turned to Charlie and did the same to her. He splattered her with water, drenched her. Then, he turned to her and jumped at her playfully. Mel dodged quickly, and jumped on his back. He could touch still, she knew. And he leaped up playfully, throwing her off his back easily. When she flew up about two feet, and landed with a huge splash about two feet away from him, he hurried to make sure she was OK. She was, and said, “Let’s do that again!” He nickered, like he was laughing with her, and they repeated it again. Finally, Mel looked at Charlie, and asked, “You wanna try?” She wondered what she would say. She looked at Ty, and he was still happy, “He won’t mind. He is just happy to be playing.” she encouraged, happy.

I laughed at Mel. She had a great bond with her horse. It was like me and Trigger. The Rock realized how much we were having and turned going back to the waters edge. I looked to the great horse and smiled. Come on Rock, I said splashing around. Rock slowly walked into the water up to his knees. I laughed at the giant and began to slpash him. Rock tossed his head and began to paw at the water splashing me back.
I sheilded myself laughing. I walked up to the horse and placed my forehead on his. Rock stood there gently his ears perked forward. I kissed him on the nose. He whicked softly and gently nudged me. I chuckled and stroked his large face. I was beginning to love this horse. He was a gentle giant who spoke softly. I smiled and looked back to Mel and playful Ty. He was a great horse for Mel. Having fun? I asked smiling to both of them.
