Ryan positioned himself in the saddle, putting all his weight on the balls on his feet in the sturrups. He took the reins, tightening them in his large hands. It made his arm muscles ripple up his arm, and he flexed them. Rocket pranced a little. This was what he loved the most, feeling the wind whip past him, plowing through the air and leaving everything behind him, kicking up a huge cloud of dust. This was it, now he wanted to soar. He wanted to race.
Ryan barely nudged Rocket with the heel of his foot, and Rocket surged forward. He was like a bullet, strait and not stopping. Ryan kept his balance easily, flowing with his horse, flying throught the wind. It whiped in his face, made tears fall, but he didn't care. The feeling of flying was so amazing it didn't matter. The bad things went behind him; His parents' deaths His adoptive parents' deaths The stress of caring for his sister No girlfriends
It all didn't matter. He was flying past them, leaving them all behind and never looking back. This was why he loved it so much. The thrill, the freedom. It was like nothing else.

Sitting bareback on the bay mare she felt herself tense up. Not Juniper but Shawna, she hadn't even risked riding the mare bareback and now being on a racetrack. It was just a gallop once around to get Juniper settled a little bit before being put in for the day. On the track was a man and his horse, watching him she wished she could be like that. Light and moving with the horse, however she did do that but in an English saddle and over jumps.
Not on a saddle that was the mass of air and a horse that wold destroy you if you fell off. Then again without a saddle and a mare that would easily kill her just standing around there was more risk. Holding the reins carefully she was trying this without a galloping martingale as well. Juniper had a nice back and they were already prancing at a trot against the outside track rail. Her leg almost about to run into it and Juniper bending herself to the outside which made her look awkward.
Tossing her head a little, nervous Shawna held the reins firmly. Wearing a tank top and shorts with a pair of paddock boots she moved the mare to the inside rail. Sitting into a two point she didn't touch her sides and already Juniper was cantering. It felt like a gallop but closing her eyes for a blinking second the mare was bolting off with her. Giving a strong half halt she had no control until she saw that she wasn't bolting. Letting her reins slip a little she realized that Juniper was listening, a little.
Her pony stride had moved into a full thoroughbred, ground eating gallop. That half thoroughbred inside her was from her sire and he was a champion in small allowance and stakes races. Blazing past the one lap marker she sat deep into the mare's back and gave a good pull on her mouth and then began to turn her into a circle, the only one that the track's width allowed her. Settling into a rocking horse and pony stride canter they continued, Juniper still wanting to continue.

Ryan didn't notice the other group until he overlapped them. Rocket shot out even faster, excited for the company. He obviously thought it was a race. Ryan laughed a bit, but when the little group stopped and did their circle, Rocket and Ryan were rounding the corner, and Rocket had to swerve out of the way to avoid a collision. "ARG!" Ryan said, desperately falling into the saddle. Rocket slidded to the side, barely escaping a fall.
When Rocket regained his balance, Ryan leaped off and checked his legs. The horse was panting hard, but he seemed OK. Ryan sighed in releif. Thank the lord. Then he turned to the person behind him, anger in his blue eyes. He didn't even see them at first, and then he snapped, "What the hell? Are you trying to kill my horse?!" It was only fear of his horse, that made him mad. What the hell was the person thinking? His horse was amazing, he loved riding and just having Rocket around. What did this person think they were doing? He really wasn't this mean, it was just worry of his horse. He was usually open and nice, but when it came to hurting his horse he got pissed. This was serious. What if his horse had been hurt? Though he would never admit it to anyone, he loved Rocket, and he wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him.

Sitting atop the mare as they began to drift down the long side she turned to hear something yelling at her. Looking at them with disbelief her ears hurt from the loud noises. Juniper also obviously didn't like this person and pinned her ears back. Nostrils flarring she stomped out her front leg and then squealed, basically prepared to charge. Tossing her head her rider turned the mare around and looked at disbelief at him. Dismounting she held the reins and stomped towards him. "Well! If you don't like it then piss off! Other than that I circled unknowing, you had your sweet time to go inwards. So don't yell at me!"
Her small petite frame began to shake in anger, her face was red. Throat ached from how loud she had yelled, it could have been heard in California. Poor Juniper was prancing at the other end of Shawna's grip. Knuckles turned white as she held the reins, turning to the mare she made a shusshing sound which settled the mare a little. But, ears remained planted against her head and her owner followed with a furiated face. Her fist just wanted to rise and smash this guy in the face.
He didn't know the first thing about talking to someone. Shouldn't dare to talk to her like that, after all she was getting on there with knowledge there was another person but the wind whipped her face. Her ears heard wind and no voice, he could have warned her like your suppose to. Looking at him still her spare hand grew into a fist and Juniper was growing nervous by the minute.

Ryan settled a little, but when the girl started to scream at him he was taken aback a tad. He as supposed to be the only one pissed! She was taking his lines! He bit his lip, and when her face got beet red and she was shaking with fury, he started laughing. He couldn't help it. It was funny!
When he composed himself, he sighed, "Sorry. I just freaked out that I could have killed either your horse or mine, it sort of scared the shit out of me. Sorry about that." It was sincere, and was surprised how much he calmed down. "I am happy no one was hurt. Rocket seems fine, and your horse seems fine enough to be mad..." As he looked more closely at the horse, she looked more than mad. She looked furious, pissed.
He turned to the horse without asking the girl, making a soothing sound. "Shh...I'm sorry, sweetheart. Settle, settle. Sorry I was a jerk." He held out his had, not making eye contact to show he wasn't a threat. He knew from experiance that horses didn't like to be stared at in the eyes. So he looked at her shoulder, holding his head out and waiting patiently. He wasn't being mean, he was completely past his anger and being pissed. He just hoped the horse saw that and also that he wasn't as mean as he was two minutes ago. Rockey wasn't tied up, and he walked over calmly. His eyes were bright, happy from the ride. He set his snout on Ryans' shoulder, wanting attention. Ryan leaned his head on the dark bay nose, and lifted the hand that wasn't streched out to the angry horse to pet his own. Rocket nickered at the attention, loving the soothing stroking.

Watching him move towards Juniper she knew he had trouble coming for him. She wanted to scream to him not to touch her horse. Jump on the mare's back and canter back to the barn. Walk her out and settle her in for the day. Yet her best judgement couldn't allow her, it was almost to late when she backed the mare up. Juniper's teeth were bare and her eyes looked at this stranger reaching for her. "I wouldn't touch her if I were you. Truth is I'd just back off." Shawna looked up from the ground at this guy.
Her face was still a bit red but it was fading, he had laughed at her and she still wanting to punch him in the face. Juniper's dapple bay coat shimmered in the sunlight and she nudged Shawna in the back. Turning to see the mare she showed that she was a bit calmer and immediately Juniper followed. Less tension was coming between the two and they were a bit more mellow. Yet the mare was still furious at the stranger who wanted to pet her. Ears flat against her skull and her hooves about ready to strike his skull.
"Well then. If you care I'm Shawna." Holding her hand out to the boy whom she now considered the most unlikely of friends. Juniper's muscles were tense which meant that Shawna couldn't put her away until they were like jello and the mare was tired again. One of them being wound up was enough to handle but the both of them made it harder to rest.

Ryan bit his lip, and nodded. "Hm. If you don't mind me asking, is she a stubborn horse, or am I just now an asshole?" he was actually serious, amazingly. It was hard to beleive, honestly, but it was true. She angled his head slightly to the right, took one last look at the horse, and then backed off, shrugging. Rocket followed him, and then sat his large head on Ryan's shoulder again. Ryan turned and laughed a bit, "Ok, Ok!" He have up. Then he stroked Rockets' neck, and the horse nickered. He loved attention far too much.
Ryan smiled a crooked smile at the girl. "Sure I care." he extended a large hand, turning the reins to the other. "I'm Ryan Micheals. You might have met my sister, she is obsessed with the stables. Keeli." he smiled, and rolled his eyes a bit at his sister. He didn't really get why she loved it so much. But he had to admit, riding the horse of his dreams made him pretty happy, too. Rocket pranced a bit, and Ryan shushed him a bit. "Calm down, Rocky. One minute, please!" he rolled his eyes again, but if you knew him well you would know he was only teasing. He loved Rocky a lot, honestly. He still had his hand out extended, waiting for the strange girl to reply. He smiled a bit in encouragement.

Taking a moment to assess the boy she whipped off everything she thought of him and hsi horse. She had her own future show horses and her own things to worry about. When he mentioned a girl who was obsessed with the stables and that she might had met her she thought. "This is Juniper. She's not stubborn she's being re-trained after abuse. And nice to meet you Ryan." Looking at his horse she noted the muscular strength he had in his hind quarters, his legs, his front muscles. Everything was amazingly well sculpted.
Scratching Juniper's nose she heard the mare groan a moment before pawing the ground a few times and Shawna stopped. "No praise if you don't behave." Whispering to the mare she looked at the mare who nudged her softly and stood perfectly still. Her morgan breeding was sticking out easily as was her thoroughbred. Her father had been a seventeen and two hand chestnut stakes winner. Juniper's dam had been a western pleasure and side saddle, dapple gray mare who stood a measily fourteen and two hands. A tall horse about the size of a draft and a short pony sized mare, teh two created a perfect and high strung filly.
Thinking of it she had been looking forward to receieving a possible dapple gray mare her parents had. Racing in Grade II stakes she had run in a filly race a fwe before the Kentucky Derby and won second. With a female jockey, the two were incredible and unstoppable. Shawna had ridden the mare several times in a gallop and loved her striding. Juniper had once gone against the mare and had beaten her. All the spitfire inside the mare had left her for a week after that small race and she was like an old horse who had a nice steady pace. Yet after a week the mare was back and high wire.
