Dan ignored moss just watching the hooves. He didn’t move just cooed softly again. ”see nothin’. I am not going to run away from or at you, make up you mind sweet’eart. Are you going to let me in or chase me off.” He whispered out soothingly. He could see the confusion blazing in every move she made. He had lived to long to be afraid of this sort of behavior. Every wild horse treated him the same but he didn’t break his pose. It was safer for them both if he moved as little as possible. He watched carefully as she landed and lunged landing just a foot from him then pranced back again.
He winced as sand hit him but held his ground. ”Just breath.” He could see her struggle as if he were a snake and she wasn’t sure if he had venom or not, to stomp it or to ignore it. He just croched still. Finally Rain slowed and just stood perfectly still and for a moment he locked her gaze. He only showed her he care, his want to help. Nothing else mattered right now. He let her see into his soul. Horses could usually tell when someone meant them harm. He watched her and cracked a small smile. ”See your being silly” he whispered out slowly watching her tension. She hadn’t relaxed yet but he wasn’t going to move.
Finally he spoke to Moss keeping his voice in the same smoothed over tone. ”This is normal behavior for a horse reacting to something it fears. I am not a threat to her now so it is confusing her. She doesn’t know how to react to a man who is simply there. Offering her peace. I think he did something horrid to her. Not sure what. Might never know but I wish I knew. Would make it easier to know how to help her.” He was trying to sooth both of them knowing moveing now would probably frighten the mare more as close as she was. "However if you want to end it let go of Pence and go fetch her. She should be fine for you. Its not you that scares her after all."

-- && -- Moss was shocked as he ignored her, but surprised by his dedication. she looked at Rain swiftly to see her getting closer. moss turned around and paid attention to Pence. giving him all of her attention. " No, you do what you think is right. I'm just being a softy. " Moss sighed. she focused on Pence as much as she could. He had gorgeous markings. another whinny from rain made Moss and Pence freeze, but with a quick glance Moss saw that Rain was approaching Dan, nearly a foot away. the mare sniffed the air once more, then deemed him safe. she nudged him with her muzzle and eyed him cautiously.
-- && -- moss smiled then focused on Pence, but spoke softly to Dan. " She gave in. i think she may trust you alittle, cause that was alot quicker than i expected. " Moss was gazing at Rain now, and Dan. Rain had calmed down emensly, but you could tell any that she was slightly unsure of what to do. Moss knew that Rain would like Dan now, because he was the first guy to surrender, and not holler and throw things in Rain's face. Rain nudged him again begging for his attention. Rain looked at Moss and shot a worried glance at Dan. she wanted to head over to Moss. a step towards mia and she froze, waiting for his reaction. when he did nothing, she trotted over at an angle, not closer to the stallion but close enough that with an extended muzzle she could let Moss pat her. " Now go back and be friendly. Please?" Moss watched as the mare began blinking alot. meaning she was thinking. the mare turned again and looked at Dan. She made her way slowly to him, unsure again but not scared. the mare had a huge vocabulary and knew what you meant when you spoke to her. she was very bright. the main reason Moss kept her.
[ooc-- so sorry! sucky sucky post! i just didnt know what to have her do. except befriend him. ugh. >_< not impressed by this post, sorry for its lack of quality. ]

(Reb! The post is fine! You are fine! *slaps hand* stop berating yourself. Dan would be a rather calming presence when he focuses. It is how he has been trained. Think horse whisperer but with more actual work and less ‘I read your thoughts.’ XD) Daniel took a slow breath as she approached and was still a moment. He knew better then to move and panic her. When she nudged him he rose a hand to just below her muzzle, letting her take a good wiff, before he softly touched her forehead, not her nose that was too sensitive and would probably spook her. He nodded slowly. ”See I am not so bad am I Rain?” he breathed out in relief. It could have been left if moss had come and taken her, easily. He knew that while the mare was curious it was better he had stayed down. No need to panic the poor mare. She obviously had some trama in her past. When Rain turned and headed off towards moss He stood and brushed off his knees with a grin.
“She is a beau’iful, and very trustin’ mare. It took me days to get Pence anywhere near me. Mind you she has training around people and I am betting at one point she trusted men so it’s not the same.” He shook his body out as if the crouch had been a strain on him. Looking over he grinned at pence. As soon as the mare was near him he puffed up his chest and arched his neck high. Nostrils were wide and he seemed to quiver in curiosity but he held his ‘macho pose’ firm not willing to let it fall. Dan laughed. “And people say humans are bad.” He chuckled out and shook his head. He knew Rain would not be sound with him yet, like if he approached her she would probably panic, utterly, but for now the shaky hold he had was good. One foot at a time was the best way. ”Thank you moss. For trustin’t me. Its ‘ard when its your ‘orse out there.” he knew the pain of watching someone else working on your horse and having no control. His father had shown him that early on and the ache was substantial. When rain approached he lifted his hand and let her sniff it but kept to touching only her forehead, not her neck or nose for now. Anything out of her sight range was entirely off limits for now and he would keep himself from touching the mare until she was ready. ”I promise I will never bring you ‘arm.” He turned and walked carefully back over to pence, still puffed up like it did any good. Dan pressed his chest and made him back up forcing him to drop his head a bit and puff unhappily he snorted and nipped at dan’s shirt. Dan pointedly ignored this as he took the reins up. “Well at least she doesn’t have a problem with male ‘orses right?”

-- && -- " No, thanks for helping her. I trust you...." she hesitated, unsure what he'd take of that meaning then finished. " i couldnt have done it alone. its not the same if i tell her. she has to see it to believe it. moss looked over Dan again. she was starting to grow liking his company. as he gathered up pences reins, moss made her way towards Rain, who had slowly followed Dan. "she already likes you. she trust you because you dont send out a bad vibe of anger or anything that could harm her. im senstive to those emotions too. " she could hear her father now. only true horsepeople could feel what a horse feels and place themselves as a horse in their mind. you m'dear are a horseperson. your instincts make you signifigant and understanding with horses. they are attracted to the vibes you send out. thats why you bond with them so easy. sure you will find a few that arent interested or are a different case, but you will outshine most of the riders around you. the true horsepeople will shine through! . she had always remembered that speech he gave her. she was ten when she heard it, but she held on to it for inspiration. the thought immediatly sent a trouble expression on her face, and her horse even picked up on the immediate sadness the filled Moss. moss and rain had spent so much time together, it was like there was more than what was seen to the eye. their bond was special. they picked up on each others moods swiftly. rain moved to moss and nudged her slightly roughly.
-- && -- moss snapped back to reality from her momentary grieving and put on a false facade til she could mend herself quickly on the inside. she smiled at Dan, then looked to Pence, not actually seeing the horse. she was trying to fix herself inside before her legs gave out on her. her hand was gently shaking, not very noticable, but this was difficult. she wasnt one to blab alot about her past, and she rarely opened up to anyone about her father. she was distraught still. never been the same as before, unless she was drunk and the pain went away. finally on the mend, her face went natural again. she looked real, alive, well, again. instead of the fragile little scared girl that was there under the previous mask. but she wasnt sure how well he could pick up what just happened, and she hoped he didnt notice. but something about this guy made her want to show him. want to let him in, and have him comfort her, and her rest in his arms. with a sigh, she looked at rain and winked. the horse seemed satisfied that she was better for the moment, moss tried to send out good vibes through her emotions.

Daniel stroked pence and whispered softly to him reassuring the stallion the he was still his favorite. He didn’t want pence growing distraught because he was playing with a new horse. Pence was a jealous beast and needed constant reassurance of his place in Dan’s life at this point. Dan knew he would get past that stage but his past neglect had left him anxious of every action Dan took. He stroked the stallions nose and then took to running his hands along his neck and chest letting the stallion feel the contact between them. Any tension melted from his form and he snorted. His head lifted reluctantly from Dan to stare at the girl thinking, quite frankly, she gave good attention too. He liked her, he didn’t just put up with her. Just like she was thinking, she was a horse person, like Dan.
Pence saw the mare creeping closer and straightened up again causing Dan to chuckle out and shake his head, ”easy there Casanova the ladies don’t need you jumping them all the time.” he warned the young colt. He was only three which made him skittish. He was still new to the saddle; the fact Dan was riding him with as much control as he had was amazing. Dan just had a way with horses. He had always had a talent to let them read him and that made horses easy to read themselves. Most humans were too wrapped up in layers and fear of opening up to anything, much less a horse, to take that risk. It was a venerability issue that Dan had never experienced.
He looked over behind him in time to see the mare walk back to moss and nudge her. He tipped his head and took a moment to see the mask that dropped over her face. He could see the change only because the horse had shown that it was worried. He waited until she seemed to compose herself and spoke calmly, his brow furrowed. ”You alrigh’ there moss?” He wasn’t going to pry, it wasn’t in his nature. He simply reached out and if someone took his hand he would accept it. He didn’t pry because that meant he would have to open up himself and that was a past he wanted to remain buried. The memories alone were hard to cope with he didn’t need pity to add to that.

-- && -- as dan spoke, moss flinched. not at the tone of his voice, or his question, only out the sound of a male voice. his voice wasnt near oli's deep rumble of a soundbox, but it was close enough. she hadnt talked to a guy since her ex. which he was just there to be her comfort, and it turned into him loving her, and her feeling bad but accepting his love. he was a young new officer that they had sent to watch her, before she moved. when she left, he was highly upset, but she knew he'd move on quickly. he had actually texted her a few days ago to let her know he had already found a new girlfriend, and that made Moss happy for him. she wasnt the type to get jealous over ex's. just dont touch her love. cause she would have a quiet fit, or worse, explode on the female violater. she was possessive. not widly, but she didnt like to be left alone anymore, and she figured that if another girl was distracting her lover, that that girl was a threat towards her relationship. she just couldnt get over that fear. she looked at Dan. oh how badly it burned her to tell him everything. confide in him, and just let go of her guard. but she couldnt. she was too vunerable.
-- && -- moss made an unconsious step towards Dan while she was thinking. arm muscles flexed, she was nearly moving her arms forward to reach out to him when she snapped back to reality. she took a nearly silent gasp as she stepped back. her guard was very weak. her legs tembled as the thoughts couldnt be controlled anymore by her barrier of happy thoughts. instead they played in her head. she had to get away from everyone and everything right now. she felt so bad about leaving Dan, but she hoped her plan would work. " Dan, ...i uh...thank..you for your help with r-rain. but..ive..g-got. ... to go. im...going to take rain..and ..get her placed in her pasture for the night.....may-maybe. ..uh...you could meet me at 7pm at the Bluebirds Diner? i really hope so. " the words she spoke were very shaky, not matching the false smile placed on her face. to an average person her smile would be convincing. but thoughts of her dad were killing her, and she couldnt wait for his answer. even rain balked at this sudden weakness. moss couldnt wait not a second longer. her eyes were already going red, and she couldnt believe how one second ago she was fine and the other minute she was nearly dead inside. she gave him a swift apologetic look as she removed the western tack and threw it over the fence near the barn. she grab it later, hopefully if no one stole it. if they did, it wouldnt be hard to find. it had her name engraved and embrodiered in everything. she easily launched herself on the now skiddish mare. tears went down her face as she kicked the mare towards the fence.
-- && -- she knew the gate would enclose her, and she would fumble til she fell to her knees, so she took to the fence where it would take less than a second. sure the fences were high, but jumping was the mares speciality. the mare twisted her head to avoid going forward, inside she tried to back up to Dan. the mare couldnt stand moss this way. it had only happened once before in this new place, but the mare was frightened. she was scared for mia being harmed, moreso than mia harming her. moss whispered something unheard to surrounders in rain's ears. all she said was please. the mare sprang forward, and in a short moment she was at the fence. the mare gathered herself, even with a slight misstep.mia just held on, instincts overwhelming her. her head went numb as she lost control of her emotions. all instinct now baby. and that was some instincts she did have. her father was all she could see, and she motioned rain faster. and the mare went faster. straight into the large expanse of fields further on.
-- && -- moss would show up at the diner tonight. and she hoped dan would to, so she could explain herself. this action was extremely rude, but she was suffering and just like a horse, she chose flight than fight. and that was one thing that kept her together. not fight the pain. but leave it. though she didnt know what damage it was actually doing to her. this was her mustang run.
