Liam looked down the long aisle of horse stalls. He yawned and looked at his watch. Was it 9 PM already? He tapped the top of the watch, which began to tick again. He sighed. He didn't even know what time it was. He wandered down the row of horse stalls with a confident swagger to his step. He read some of the name plates as he went. He ducked into the tack room. His dull, unpolished saddle looked like junk compared to the mostly new, shiny saddles. He picked up his saddle and bridle, carrying it out. Liam opened the door to Serendipity's stall. The mare whickered softly when she saw Liam. "Hey, Dippy. Would ya like to go for a little run?" Liam quickly saddled and bridled the mare. "We're going to have to be quiet going out." Liam whispered, "I'm not sure if we're supposed to use the trails after dark." Liam could hear the sharp sound of footsteps in the barn aisle. "Oh shit." Liam muttered. He immediately took off Dippy's saddle and bridle, hiding them in the corner of the stall. He stood behind Dippy, hoping that whoever it was, they wouldn't see him.

It was Keeli, of course. Her mischeivious side had taken over, and she wanted to go out for a fun ride in the dark. Who knew, there could be something out there to find. She was trying to be a little quiet, but she had stepped on something, and it snapped beneath her. She sighed, and she heard a faint muffled sound coming a stall down. She walked down, pearing into it. She could see the moonlight in the stall, and she was sure she would have looked weird, only been a shadow. She wanted to laugh to think what the shadow looked like. Big and fluffy on top, and then sudden skinniness. But she was much too nervous for that.
She looked harder. The horse in there was pretty, but as she looked closer she could see a faint outline of not a horse, but a human figure. She snorted, breaking the tention. "Lord, you know how to scare the crap out of someone, don't you?" She laughed a bit, and then added in a cheery voice, "Nice hiding spot, by the way." She smiled a crooked smile, though she was sure that the person couldn't see it. She stepped away from the door to clear the doorway. She could tell the moonlight could hit her more easily, that way they could see her better. She was sure she didn't look that menacing. They she wanted to hide. How she looked! Danget! She was in her pajamas, her tank and short shorts. She bit her lip. It would seriously suck if it was a cute guy in there.
She waited, anxious to see who it was. She loved meeting new people, but she wondered what they were doing here so late. Then again, so was she. She smiled, and fiddled with the string on her shorts. She wasn't really self-conscious of her looks. She knew she wasn't fat, and she thought her outfit was cute. Oh, well. A lime green tank and monkey shorts that said 'GO BANANAS! on it wasn't that stupid. They were comfortable though, and that was what mattered. So she stood there, in her pajamas, waiting for the mysterious person to come into the moonlight.

Lord, you know how to scare the crap out of someone, don't you? Nice hiding spot, by the way. Liam almost jumped when he heard the girl's voice. He stepped out from behind Serendipity, into the light of the barn aisle. Sorry about that, miss. Liam said, a smile forming on the corner of his lips, I thought that it might be someone trying to stop me from going on a little midnight ride. Liam looked at his horse, who's head was now hanging innocently from the stall door. They don't mind here, if you go on moonlight trail rides, do they? He asked, heading back into the stall with a laugh.

Keeli laughed. Well, he seemed nice. She smiled, and when he asked if they were allowed, she shrugged and giggled at the same time. "Honestly, I have no idea. I just so happened to be going on one myself..." She faded off, and then asked, "Would you mind some company at all?"
Of course it was just something to ask. He didn't have to let her, not at all. But he seemed nice, and it made her want to get to know him. Friends were something she could never get enough of, no matter how many she had. So she waited, hoping that he would be kind and say yes. Who knew, maybe he wanted some friends, too.

Liam looked at the girl for a moment, smiling at the 'Go Bananas' pajamas. He looked into her brown eyes for a fraction of a second, before looking down at his feet. I would love the company. I'm deathly afraid of bats, just to warn you. He ran a hand through his thick hair. He wondered for a moment if she thought that his Irish accent was strange. She seemed nice, so he didn't think much of it. I'm Liam O'Conner, by the way. This is my horse, Serendipity.

Keeli saw him smile at her monkey pajamas, but she didn't feel self concious. Instead, she smiled with him, and when he held his gaze to her own, she smiled bigger. He was deathly cute, she noticed. The touseled brown hair, squared jaw...Oh, yes, definetely cute. She felt bad for embarrassing him if that was the case in his gaze going down to his shoes. She didn't like when she made people uncomfortable; it made her feel bad. So to make up for it she giggled a bit when he said being afraid of bats. "Don't worry. I don't think they like to get in your hair..." She smirked a bit, just joking.
As she listened closer to his voice, she noticed that it had an accent. She hadn't noticed just because, well, just because she was too occupied obsessing over his cuteness. Hey, she was a girl, girls liked guys...well, most of them, anyway. But as she paid more attention to his voice, she noticed that it was adorable. Well, to her anyway. It was Irish, by the sound of it. She smiled at his name, very different. But cute, just like the rest of him. "I'm Keeli Micheals, and I ride Avalanche. Ava for short." She then turned to Serendipity, and man, was she beautiful. "Wow. What a beautiful horse!" She commented, holding out her hand to let the horse smell. She hoped that it wasn't like Ava. Ava was much too hyper and she was not as friendly to people as most of the horses here...
She shrugged it off, waiting for Liam to anwser. He seemed really nice, and she was starting to like him. Not in that way, no. But in a friendly way, and she hoped he would want a friend. Then she looked outside; the full moon was shining really bright, not a bit covered by the clouds. She liked the eerie feeling, so calming and quiet. The little scuffles of the horses and the hoot of the owls...She loved to listen to all of it. Words: 361

Liam looked up at the barn ceiling to see a bat hanging from a rafter. He laughed and pointed, "My worst enemy is here already." He shook his head, his hair tossed in front of his eyes. He smiled at Keeli, watching as Serendipity sniffed her hand. "Dippy loves the compliments as much as she loves carrots." He smiled and rubbed his horse's neck. Serendipity turned her head and blew softly through her nose. Liam blew back. The friendship between the boy and the horse was unmistakeable. As Liam went to stroke Serendipity again, he accidently touched Keeli's hand. He felt himself turn red. What is wrong with me? Liam wondered. He had never felt embarassed in front of a girl before, girls were usually the ones blushing for him. He looked at Keeli for a moment. She was pretty, to say it lightly. The bright eyes, the beautiful hair, the perfect teeth. "Let's go on that trail ride then." Liam said quickly, "Before the bat gets me."

Keeli laughed, the sound bubbly and rang like bells. She looked up, and he eyes got big. "Uh oh. Maybe we should send in reinforcements!" She smiled a crooked smile, one that she only usually used with her brother. It wasn't something she did with anyone else, and she was surprised she did. She only did that when she was reallly happy or just having fun. Wow. That was strange.
When he said 'Dippy' loved compliments just as much as carrots, Keeli giggled. "I'm sure she gets plenty of both." She watched as he bonded with his horse, the love and happiness was so...She didn't know how to explain it. It was just so sweet, lord. She needed to focus. He pet his horse, and she felt his hand brush hers, nice, warm...Her eyes widened at the feeling. She could actually see the color change in his face, and she felt her own turn a soft pink. Now they were both embarrassed. She giggled a bit at that.
When he composed himself enough to say they better get moving before the bat got him, Keeli easily went into her sweet smile. "Oh, I think you are right. But the reinforcements should be here soon, but I don't think that would be enough time to save your hair." She smiled teasing, really wanting to muse with the shaggy disarray. Good heavens, he was adorable. It should be illigal. So tempting...in a crushing way. She felt a crush coming on, and she wanted to scold herself. She barely knew him, yet she was already starting to really like him. How annoying. But at least he was cute, and sweet, and adorable. 'Keeli, focus! You just met him. He just started to talk to you... In that really adorable accent!'
Her mind couldn't even help her anymore. How disorienting. Your mind was supposed to be your sanctuary, it wasn't even helping now. She shook her head just a little to clear it, and she said, "I'll be right back." She ran to the stall two door down, and Ava stuck her white face out at her. She rubbed it, kissing her nose. She let herself into the stall, and threw a blanket on her back. She wasn't going to put a saddle on this late and with short shorts on. That would be stupid. So she led Ava out, the Arabian glistning from an earlier brushing. She patted her neck, and walked her down. "You ready?" She asked. She was already dying for the ride.

Liam noticed that Keeli, too, had blushed when their hands had touched. It made him feel better, and more comfortable being around her. Liam sighed dramatically and grinned at Keeli. "I guess we'll just have to risk my hair and ride without those reinforcements." When Keeli walked to Avalanche's stall to get her horse, Liam shook his head. Maybe it's best not to get involved with her at all... Liam thought, After all, I've never been good in the love department, she probably doesn't even like you. The last thought was sobering. Liam let himself into Serendipity's stall and bridled her. He glanced at the worn saddle, still leaning in the corner of the stall. He knew that if he used it, it would be embarassing. Instead, he brought her out of the stall in just a bridle. Bareback would have to do for now. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Keeli standing with the perfectly matched Arabian gelding. Stop it, Lee! You're just going to make a fool of yourself if you start liking her. You just met her, get a hold of yourself. He smiled at her and swung himself onto Serendipity's back. The mare sidestepped, but he squeezed his calves lightly and she squared up. "I'm ready if you are." He said, tossing his hair out of his eyes.

Keeli smiled at him having to risk his hair, she laughed. "I think it is too important to risk. You might look weird with short hair." In truth, she just loved his shaggy hair too much to think of it being cut off. She wanted to beg him to never let it grow any longer and never get any shorter. That it would be a crime.
After she went and got Avi, and met him out, he led Dippy out of her stall. Ava pranced a tad in excitement, she was used to being alone on rides. She was very excited about having company with them. It was enough to make Keeli worry. When Ava got too excited, she usually ended up hurting Keeli. She had plenty of scars to prove it, too. She sighed a tad, and smiled when she noticed Dippy didn't have a saddle on either. She herself prefered bareback, it was much more comfortable. She thought it was easier for the horse, as well.
She watched as Dippy sidestepped, but Liam easily settled her. It meant he was a good rider, she knew. He looked like a good one too, honestly. Lithe...young...well built...cute... Wait. How the heck did cuteness make you a good rider?! Keeli was losing it. It was frustrating her out of her mind. She looked at Ava, and decided that she really didn't want to jump all the way up on her tall back.
She took Ava's head and turned it to look at her, "Ava, down please." She said. It was something she hadn't done in a while, but she really hoped that Ava remembered. But Ava lowered herself to her knees, making it very easy for Keeli to get on her back. It was something they had taught her a long time ago since Keeli was too small to get on her. Keeli smiled and pet her neck, then slipped on. "Thank you." she said, after Ava easily came back up to a stand.
Then she turned to Liam, she hated thinking she was showing off. "My brother and me had taught her that a long time ago, since I was too small to jump all the way up on her. So we taught her to go down. I was just wondering if she still knew it." She shrugged, showing it didn't really mean much to her. She wasn't bragging, not at all, in fact, she was hoping he didn't think she was. "OK, so are you wanting to go on a long ride, or a short one? I think we should to the long, that way the reinforcements can chase out our unwelcome friend." She giggled. She loved making little jokes, and she was sure that he didn't mind. Or at least she really hoped.

Liam's eyes widened when he saw Ava get down on her knees for Keeli to mount. As she swung herself on, couldn't help but admire her grace. He could already feel himself falling for her. How could that be, when they had talked for less than ten minutes? Liam found the feeling unsettling. The rapid heartbeat, being toung tied, saying stupid things. It was a novel thing for him. That's quite the trick. You and your brother must be quite the horse trainers. He smiled. It was the first time in a long time that he felt that his smile was genuine. Suddenly, he was worried. What would they talk about? Would he have to explain that his parents were dead, that he lived in his truck, and that he could hardly afford boarding for his horse? Long ride, of course. The reinforcements should of taken care of our bat problem by then. He nodded wisely, his shaggy hair falling just over his eyes. He nudged Dippy with his heels, and she set off at a regal walk down the barn aisle. A few curious horses poked their heads out of their stalls to see what was going on. Maybe if you're lucky, Liam called back to Keeli, I'll take you to my favorite place! He was, of course, referring to a beautiful pond and stream that he had come across on a trail ride. When the moon reflected on it just right, it looked like a mirror. He hoped that Keeli would enjoy it as much as he did.

Keeli sighed in releif when it looked like he didn't think she was showing off. She laughed at the fact he thought she and Ryan were good horse trainers. "No, not really. We just have plenty of free time." She shook her head at the real truth in that. Ryan was usually the one who did the bills, as strange as that was, and it was easy since they had enough money to help them through their entire life. Both sets of parents had given all they had to them, not that she really cared, but she always had gotten what she wanted. It wasn't selfish, no, but why not use what you had to get what you needed?
Keeli's big brown eyes brightened at his enthusiasm for the long ride. She loved long rides, they were so much more fun than short ones. They were fun and then they were over. There wasn't much time to actually do anything. But the bad thing about long ones were you didn't always have anything to talk about. She went around in her head, searching for something to talk about. She didn't come up with much. She thought first she would talk about family, but then they would come up with her past, and she really didn't want to get into that. It just wouldn't be something fun to talk about.
So she decided that she would just wing it. Talking usually flowed easily for her. What she thought of just came out. So she figured it would be good just this once. Then she nodded very seriously with the reinforcements. "Sounds good." She smiled afterward, and then followed him down the hall. She saw his grace in his movements, and they easily mesmerized him. How graceful! He was definetely a good rider.
When he spoke of his favorite spot, she wondered where it was. Not that it mattered, she would love to see it either way. "Sounds great!" she said, truthfully enthusiastic. She smiled, and they started towards the trail. She looked up at the deep blue/black sky. The stars were easily seen, bright and shining. Boy, did she love it. It was so beautiful... She spoke her thoughts very easily, there wasn't any worry that she would look stupid. It just didn't really matter to her. "Wow. So beautiful..." she trailed off. It was wonderful, she loved the perfect temperature and the small rustle of the wind that blew her hair every once and a while. It was amazing. So magnificent.

Liam closed his eyes, feeling the gentle breeze on his face. The only sound was the plodding of the horses' hooves. He suddenly felt uncomfortable. What should he say? Back in Ireland, we didn't have trails this nice. He said softly. It was the truth, but it was no conversation starter. He stole a glance over at Keeli. She looked perfect on her horse, she was a wonderful rider. A deep sigh escaped from his throat. You know, this feels like home. Being here, with the horses. It's what I've always loved. My parents used to have a really big Irish Sporthorse breeding business. I wish I could've kept one of those horses. I helped raise the foals from the time I was five until... His voice trailed off. He didn't know if he wanted to say any more. He didn't want to bore Keeli, as she was the first person that he had talked to in a while. He looked back up at the sky. The moon was out. That made him smile. Keeli would be able to see the pond in all of its glory. He looked back at her once again. There were so many things that he wanted to say. Suddenly, a rabbit darted out from a nearby bush. Dippy reared up, pawing at the sky. Liam wrapped his arms around her neck. His mind was racing. Please let Keeli be okay. He made the silent wish. Why was it that he was in danger but his mind was focused on a girl he had met less than an hour ago? He couldn't see if her horse was rearing too. Liam held on tight.

Keeli didn't mind the silence at all, but with his voice filling it, it suited her just fine. She smiled as he talked of his hometown, she guessed. Wow, Ireland. She knew exactly what his accent was from. Not that she cared that much, it was too cute not to like. When he said that his parents used to have a big breeding thing, she was automatically interested. But she didn't want to stress it, just the way he said 'until...' made her worry. But she skipped it over, trying ot keep him comfortable. "I am sure anyone would have wanted to keep a horse like that. But Dippy seems to be great for you, I have to admit." she smiled, being honest in her own eyes. The two made a great pair, she had to say it.
She was just about to join in more, but the rabbit flew from one side of the trail to the other, and she watched in horror as Dippy reared, with Liam on top of her. She flipped, but she knew that she needed to keep calm in order to keep her own horse from doing the same. So she made Ava back up, and flung herself off, and tied her to a tree. It all took but thirty seconds. She knew exactly how to handle this situation. Ava had put her through it plenty of times. She grabbed Dippy reins that had flown to her direction as she tried to fast walk over, and said in a soothing voice, "Shhh. It's OK, Dippy. Settle, sweetheart, settle." She took the chance of stepping close to her, her chest hitting Liams' foot. She smoothed the frightened horses' neck, still murmuring, praying to God she had acted in time to not have Liam hurt.
((ooc; hehe. both worrying about each other. awww))
